Role Purpose 

This is a new role. Stand-by-me is seeking an experienced Director to effectively lead and manage the organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the effective continued delivery of the charity’s aims, providing strong, strategic leadership and operational management, focussing on enhancing fundraising capacity and developing a robust organisation strategy. This role will also serve as the public representative of the organisation and will report directly to the Board of Trustees.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership & Development:

· Conduct a rapid assessment of the charity’s current strategic plan and identify key areas for improvement.

· Lead the development of a revised or updated strategic framework, focusing on sustainability, growth, and impact.

· Work collaboratively with the Board of Trustees and Clinical staff to define clear strategic priorities and measurable outcomes.

· Provide clear and concise report to the Board on progress against strategic objectives.

· Manage and coordinate research projects and feasibility studies including budgeting, resourcing, scheduling, tracking and ensuring quality assurance.

2. Income Generation and Financial Management:

· Conduct a rapid, comprehensive review of existing fundraising activities and identify opportunities for growth and diversification.

· Develop and implement a short and long-term fundraising strategy to maximise income generation.

· Monitor and report on grants and funding.

· Lead and motivate our volunteer community fundraising team providing guidance and support to achieve specified targets.

· Cultivate and strengthen relationships with major donors, trusts, foundations, patronage, and corporate partners.

· Explore and develop new fundraising streams, including regular giving, digital fundraising, innovative partnerships and legacies.

· Working with the team, develop compelling funding proposals and grant applications.

· Improve fundraising reporting and analysis to track performance and inform decision-making.

3. Operational Management:

· Provide effective line management to the team and volunteers to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

· Effectively delegate tasks to team members including promoting self organisation.

· Work with the Finance Trustee to oversee financial management, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices for budgeting.

· Manage risk and ensure the charity's compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

· Represent the charity to external stakeholders, building and maintaining positive relationships.

· Ensure effective communication and engagement with staff, volunteers, and beneficiaries.

· Work with Safeguarding Trustee and external Supervisors on any clinical or safeguarding issues as they arise.

· Conduct annual appraisals to monitor and evaluate staff performance.

4. Board Engagement/Governance:

· Act as the primary point of contact between the Board of Trustees.

· Provide regular updates to the Board on organisational performance including operational and strategic matters.

· Ensure the organisation’s compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and internal policies to support the Board in its governance role by providing advice and information as needed.

· Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between the Trustee Board, staff and volunteers.

We’re looking for someone to join Settle in a new and exciting role, working to grow and develop our community of young people and oversee the coordination of our participation work, sometimes referred to as youth involvement or lived-experience involvement.

As Senior Community and Participation Officer you will play a key part in creating strong two-way communication with young people, increasing engagement in our community programme and helping to improve our offer through feedback. You’ll feel comfortable working with people from a range of backgrounds and will enjoy building relationships with colleagues and organisations outside the direct Settle team. You are a great connector, able to draw connections between the stakeholders you are building relationships with to source opportunities for the different ways they could engage with the Settle Community and the wider organisation. You will utilise creative thinking to ensure our community offer is engaging and of value to the Settle Community.

The Volunteer & Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for recruiting and supporting volunteers at Catching Lives. This is a pivotal role in the charity which includes recruitment and induction of volunteers; managing the rota to cover shifts; managing food ordering in response to demand and budget; ensuring that the kitchen runs smoothly and meets high standard of hygiene; and communicating daily with volunteer teams.

With 100+ volunteers across the Centre and Bookshop, being Volunteer & Kitchen Coordinator calls for excellent organisational and communication skills, along with the ability to offer a friendly and non-judgemental service to people experiencing homelessness and other issues.

This is a part-time post at 25 hours per week. The working pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate and is normally between 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend and evening working.

Catching Lives supports people who are homeless or insecurely housed in Canterbury and East Kent. Our vision is of a society where everyone has a safe place to live and the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life. Our day centre is a minute’s walk from Canterbury East station. We open every day of the week to provide basic facilities (food, showers, laundry) alongside one-to-one support to help people improve housing, health and social connection. We also run a programme of arts and activities, and host specialist services from partner agencies.

Summary

This is a unique opportunity to join one of the oldest charities in the UK in a flexible, part time general managerial capacity, supporting the Trustees. The ideal candidate will have a professional qualification in accounting, property or the law and is comfortable working with professional advisers across all these disciplines. The appointment of this senior role arises by the retirement of the current incumbent, and the role offers a competitive rate which will depend on qualifications and experience.

Background

The King Henry VIII Endowed Trust, founded in 1545, holds a portfolio of c. £80m in Equities, Bonds, Land and Commercial Property, part of the Total Return from which (£2.5m in 2025) is distributed in Warwick in accordance with its Charity Commission Scheme, as follows:

· 50% Anglican churches in Warwick and Budbrooke

· 30% Warwick Schools Foundation - means tested bursaries and community activities

· 20% as grants for the “benefit of the inhabitants of Warwick”

The Trust has up to 12 trustees (4 nominated, 8 co-opted), who meet quarterly. At present, there is a Clerk & Receiver (role being renamed to COO), a deputy Clerk (who deals mainly with grants and organising meetings) and an accountant – all part-time and self-employed.

The current Clerk is retiring and is a Chartered Accountant who has held the role for 16 years, during which time the Trust has gone through a period of change. The Trust is now in a stable stage, where the priorities are managing our financial, land and property assets in order to maintain our distribution. The role is being renamed to Chief Operating Officer to better reflect the role, and would ideally remain a self-employed role.

The typical work load is likely to require about 10-15 hours per week, which fluctuates and is focused around the quarterly meeting and annual accounts. There is potential for 2 areas of land to be included in the local plan which will create additional opportunities.

Role specifics

Financial Investments

· Liaise with the investment managers (Currently: CCLA, Navera, Savills, Royal London)

· Manage any short-term deposits with HSBC

Property

· Liaise with property advisers (Margetts and Cushman & Wakefield) to manage the Trust’s property (currently an office block, a pub, a shooting range and 3 blocks of farm land)

· Oversee St Mary’s Rectory. This is owned by the Trust and is provided free of charge to the incumbent at St Mary’s, through an agreement with the Coventry Diocese.

· Ensure any property sales or leases operate within charity law.

· Where land is in the Local Plan, work with advisers and/or promoters to obtain the best commercial deal.

Charity Commission

· Manage any changes required to the Trust’s Charity Commission Schemes and Orders.

· Ensure that the Trust operates within the limitations of these Schemes and Orders.

· Annual Returns

· Manage information on Charity Commission website

Beneficiaries

· Quarterly distributions – calculation and payment

· Liaise with beneficiaries as necessary

· Prepare reports for Trustees as required (e.g. Annual Grants Report, which will include analysis of other Warwick endowed charities and Annual review of Church accounts)

General

· Deal with all correspondence

· Keep Trustees up to date

· Liaise with professional advisers

· Manage the overall office activity

· Organise meetings – including reports for meeting and minutes

· Maintain website

· Maintain records

Skill set & Experience

The role requires someone with experience of dealing with financial, legal and property issues. Coupled with good administration skills, the role requires someone who:

· Is self-reliant and used to working under their own management

· Is competent in Microsoft Office

· Has good written communication skills

· Has good interpersonal skills, to work with Trustees, other staff, advisers and beneficiaries.

Experience in the following would be beneficial, but a candidate who is keen to learn would quickly pick these up:

· Charities, including dealing with the Charity Commission

· Knowledge of Warwick and its historical heritage

The successful candidate is likely to have a professional qualification in accounting, property or the law and is comfortable working with professional advisers across all these disciplines. 

The Trust’s office is currently based on the top floor of Margetts (the Trust’s agricultural advisers), where all its records are kept. Some home working would be practical.

The role has some flexibility in hours, but there will be certain times, such as Trustee meetings that are fixed. A candidate who is able to be available for some time each day would be beneficial, as often matters need to be progressed without too much delay.

The team, consisting of an advanced trauma doctor, paramedic and consultant on most missions, can perform treatments such as open heart surgery, blood transfusions and general anaesthetic by the roadside.

By providing intervention as quickly as possible after injury, they aim to give patients the best chance of survival, and best quality of life, after trauma.

The charity serves the 10 million people that live work and travel within the M25, treating an average of five patients every day

About the role

Reporting into the Head of Financial Accounting, key responsibilities will include:

• Lead reviews of financial processes including documenting new workflows following CRM implementation.
• Perform a comprehensive review of the finance processes and system set up to strengthen organisational flexibility, and quality of reporting.
• Support the adoption of updated FRS102 accounting standards for leases and income.
• Assist with the preparation of year-end statutory accounts in line with the new Charities SORP (2026).

The Avenues Youth Project (AYP) is an exceptional West London youth club that guides disadvantaged children and young people to explore and develop new skills, connect with their peers and our trusted staff, and find their confidence. We offer fun and meaningful after-school and holiday activities led by trained youth workers. Our facilities include training kitchen, music recording studio, podcasting studio, arts and craft room, sports hall and classrooms.  

We currently have an active membership of over 1,100 children and young people, and are open 6 days a week, 48 weeks a year. All activities are free-to-access, and we raise the £1.2m we need each year through donations, grants and fundraising.

We are a team of 30 employees of which 18 are variable‑hours youth workers.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the HR Manager is a standalone role and will lead on the operational delivery of HR initiatives and will manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our youth centre, ensuring the organisation remains an inclusive and supportive employer. 

The HR Manager will also manage HR systems compliance, while supporting strategic projects that embed best practice and innovation across the organisation.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

• Manage all aspects of the employee lifecycle.

• Lead recruitment -including drafting job descriptions, conducting interviews, and managing the selection process- onboarding, and offboarding processes. 

• Provide employee relations and employment law specialist advice, including disciplinary, grievances, sickness management, capability and redundancy.

• Develop all HR policies and processes.

• Develop and co-ordinate supervision and appraisal processes.

• Plan and coordinate training opportunities, including tailored HR Workshops for line managers and personal development plans.

• Collaborate with Operations Manager in the implementation of Wellbeing initiatives.

• Ensure compliance with employment law, HR best practices, safeguarding, and GDPR.

• Provide regular reporting on people metrics to various stakeholders as required.

• Manage the approved HR budget.

• Maintain and develop HR systems and data reporting.

• Support payroll accuracy and liaise with Finance.

ABOUT YOU 

• CIPD Level 5 minimum or equivalent experience.

• Proven HR experience across the full employee lifecycle.

The focus of this role is delivery of support to the fundraising team as well as administrative and financial record keeping tasks. You will be the first point of contact for individual supporters and play a key role in developing and delivering our stewardship and engagement plans. You will be involved in gathering feedback and experiences from our visitors so that we can show our impact. You will have an important role to make sure our database, record keeping and financial systems are accurate and fully up to date. You will assist the Fundraising Manager to generate financial and impact reports for use internally and externally. This is a varied role with plenty of contact with our wider staff team and supporter community and some desk-based work alongside. If you have experience in fundraising roles this would be an advantage.

Key responsibilities:

Supporter care and communication (40%)

· Act as the first point of contact for fundraising enquiries, including in person visits, ensuring a positive, personalised and friendly approach.

· Proactively and reactively thank new and existing supporters, via a variety of channels including phone, email, letter, social media and in person.

· Contribute to the development and delivery of a stewardship plan, with support from the Fundraising Manager.

· In collaboration with the Fundraising Manager and fundraising colleagues, produce materials and resources to support our stewardship of donors and supporters. This will include preparation of newsletters, social media content, marketing/fundraising materials and helping to plan and deliver supporter and participation events.

· Assist with systematic gathering and presentation of visitor feedback from a range of stakeholders including participants, group leaders, parents and teachers. This will be through face-to-face conversations, online events, surveys and through collating evidence gathered routinely by teams at Bendrigg.

Financial and database administration (30%)

· Working with the Finance Manager and Fundraising Manager, accurately process, record and reconcile donations and Gift Aid income across various platforms.

· Log donations using a combination of manual data entry, automated imports, and third-party integrations with our fundraising database.

· Confidently run internal reports to generate statistics and impact measurements for use in our accounting, projections and grant reports.

· Ensure the database is fully up-to-date and complies with data protection regulations including GDPR.

Team support (30%)

· Manage our third-party donation platforms, ensuring accurate record keeping.

· Work with the fundraising team to create and maintain our stock of fundraising materials and resources.

· Maintain Bendrigg’s website pages related to fundraising and supporter care.

· Help the Fundraising Coordinator prepare for and deliver events and other community initiatives.

· Contribute to the planning process for the team’s calendar of fundraising appeals and activities.

· Provide support to the onsite Income & Engagement Team providing a 'reception' service including answering the door, greeting and signposting visitors, accepting deliveries, answering the main office phone and directing calls.

Further responsibilities

· Participate in the day-to-day work of the organisation – such as attending team meetings, producing reports and taking a flexible approach to general administrative duties.

Breck Foundation

Breck Foundation is at the forefront of efforts to safeguard children and young people online. Our organisation was founded in 2014 in response to the tragic loss of Breck Bednar, a 14-year-old boy who was groomed and murdered by someone he met online. Our work aims to prevent this from ever happening again. Our work saves lives.  We reach thousands of children and young people in schools and other community settings with Breck's story every year. Our talks and educational materials fill a gap in the current UK curriculum that otherwise leaves children vulnerable to online grooming and exploitation.

The Role

Children’s online safety is both an important and an urgent issue and the need for our unique work here at Breck Foundation is greater now than ever. The primary purpose of this role is to help children and young people take practical steps to become more digitally resilient and be safer online. Our East of England Education Programme Officer will introduce the highly impactful Breck’s story into schools and other youth and community spaces and deliver inspiring, educational talks to students, parents and guardians, teachers and other groups in a ‘whole community’ approach.

The role is fully remote, but post holder will be willing and able to easily travel to various locations within the East of England as and when necessary to fulfil the requirements of the role as well as to engage with colleagues virtually and in person in London four times a year.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Programme Delivery

• Coordinate all practical arrangements necessary for successful delivery and post-delivery activities in schools, including the timely transmission of digital files; and liaising with relevant colleagues to ensure timely delivery of materials and promotional merchandise to schools.
• Responsibility for delivering sessions tailored to educate/inform children/parents and teachers as well as carrying out all pre- and post-delivery engagements.
• Respond to any questions, disclosures or safeguarding concerns raised during sessions and follow up where necessary with the school safeguarding team or, where consent is secured, make onward referrals for additional support in specific cases.
• Contribute to the continuous development of all aspects of the programme, sharing new ideas and using best practice, including keeping programme presentations up to date or, when applicable, working on this together with relevant colleagues, ensuring that presentations used in schools across the organisation are always uniform and consistent.
• Maintain accurate records of programme activities, including record of input, output, and impact as well as demographics data, and monitor and periodically evaluate and report on impact.

Stakeholder Development/Management

• Seek and maximise opportunities for building relationships with groups of schools (primary and secondary) and relevant education/teaching groups, unions and networks, with a view to raising the profile of the programme and generating interest in it.
• Develop and manage ongoing relationships with individual schools to secure their repeat, annual participation in the programme or repeat bookings for paid presentations.

Publicity/Marketing/Communications

• Promote the offer to all types of schools (state and private), working with relevant colleagues to create impactful publicity/marketing assets and to make contact and register schools’ interests. 
• Maximise opportunities for generating communication assets and publicity during delivery in schools, including through video recordings, photographs, testimonials, Vox Pops, collection of social media handles for mentions etc., ensuring to follow school guidance and secure necessary permissions.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

• Objectively review the successes and achievements against agreed objectives, identifying strengths, weaknesses and risks, as well as suggesting improvement.
• Depending on experience and qualifications of post-holder, to be receptive to any other duties as required, in line with the needs of Breck Foundation.
