The Supporter Care Officer will ensure supporters, donors, volunteers and members of the public have a positive and memorable experience of contacting the Macular Society by coordinating across colleagues and partner organisations to deliver an exceptional level of customer care that deepens relationships with our supporters. 

This role part time 4 day a week (ideally Tuesday to Friday) 9:00am to 5:00pm with one hour break, on a fixed term contract until 1 April 2027.

Do you have 

• Proven experience in a customer care role 

• Experience of handling a large volume of calls and emails, with a good telephone manner

• Excellent team working and collaborative working skills and the ability to develop effective partnerships as well as work independently under own initiative

• Ability to multitask and prioritise multiple projects and work streams with an openness to take on additional tasks, as and when required

• Strong IT skills including Word, Outlook and inhouse databases. 

• A positive can do and hands on approach.

Your Role in Growing Our Forest Story

As Evidence Officer, you’ll support the development and delivery of our research and evidence programme, with a focus on social impact.

Specifically, you’ll support the development of  approaches for tracking long-term outcomes, including social metrics, that demonstrate how we contribute to nature, communities and enterprise.

MAIN DUTIES: 

1. Monitoring and processing bank, petty cash and credit card transactions

onto the accounting software (Quickbooks).

2. Management of bank and petty cash and credit card reconciliations.

3. Responsibility for the purchase ledger function, ensuring all expenditure

is correctly recorded onto the accounting software, supplier queries are

adequately dealt with, purchase orders raised where relevant and

payments processed promptly. 

4. Responsibility for the sales ledger function, ensuring income is correctly

recorded onto the accounting software, sales invoices raised, sent, with

reminders where necessary and donor income records are updated and

maintained.

5. Updating of database OASIS system, reporting and assistance with

controlling of refuge income (rent) and debtors (housing benefit charge).

6. Assist with recording, processing and reporting of client recharges,

including liaising with our partners for timely payments and

reimbursements. 

7. Support coordination of cash banking and petty cash processing for all

sites.

8. Obtain relevant authorisation for financial transactions.

9. Monitor shared and personal finance inboxes daily, responding to queries

in a timely fashion.

10. Assist with the provision of information and preparation of reports for

internal and external clients.

11. Support with implementation of new finance operational and

administrative systems.

12. General filing and administrative tasks.

About the role

The purposes of the Book Services Coordinator role is to assist the Books and Library Manager in facilitating the charity’s crew’ libraries service and specialist maritime book sales and also to administer all processes and systems involved within Books and library services.

a. Administration of the functions and systems involved in providing an effective and efficient exchange hardback library or recyclable paperback library service to ships and maritime installations

Operation Manager opportunity at Alford House

We are recruiting a versatile and commercially- oriented Operations Manager to manage the facilities, develop our rental income and provide timely and accurate financial and administrative management support.

Working model: Reporting to the Senior Youth Worker and working 18 hours, typically over 2.5 days per week (flexible working pattern can be agreed), this is a hands-on role covers (but is not limited to) the following;

• Managing the buildings and their facilities, with external contractors where appropriate
• Sustaining existing and securing new sources of income from space rentals/other commercial opportunities

The Merchant Taylors’ Company dates from 1327, when it was formed as a social and religious organisation for tailors and linen-armourers dedicated to St John the Baptist. Today, it is a flourishing Livery Company whose members are dedicated to education, fraternity, and philanthropy.

Volunteering is important for the health of the Merchant Taylors’ Company, since the hands-on experience of volunteering binds members in an emotional commitment to what the Company stands for. Many of the Great XII Livery Companies prioritise volunteering, offering a wide range of opportunities from due diligence visits with grant applicant charities to longer term mentoring opportunities with our family of schools. 

At the heart of Merchant Taylors’ Company lie the concepts of ‘Fraternity, Philanthropy and Education’.  Volunteering is vital to each pillar, enabling members to give their time and talent alongside their treasure. 

The Company is now at an exciting juncture where the groundwork to embed a more systematic approach to volunteering has been completed and the appetite within the Company has started to grow particularly across the Company’s Education programme.

The team is conscious that managing volunteering takes time, diplomacy and interpersonal skills and this role is pivotal to the success of volunteering for both Company members and partner organisations.

The working days and times can be flexible and some hybrid working may be possible. 

Some evening work will be required as well as occasional attendance at events outside of the employee’s usual working hours (including at weekends).

Some travel may be required within Greater London in connection with various aspects of the role. Occasional travel may be required within the UK.

Overview of role:

With your experience in events / project management and excellent communication and diplomatic skills, you will be the interface between the membership, your colleagues at Merchant Taylors’ Company, our family of schools and our charitable partners. You will be responsible for developing and delivering an engaging, interesting and successful range of events for members to participate in.

Job Description:   

• Take a lead on the delivery and development of an annual programme of volunteering opportunities and education events aligned with existing initiatives and in collaboration with partner organisations and schools where appropriate. 
• Work with the EGRM to co-ordinate the Trust’s Livery Academy Award scheme: recruiting, training, and supporting member volunteers to ensure high-quality engagement. 
• Take a lead on promotion of volunteering opportunities through the members’ portal in good time, with appropriate explanation to encourage take up. 
• Proactively identify barriers to participation from the membership, and develop innovative, accessible volunteering opportunities and methods to engage new audiences. 
• Champion and promote the Company’s volunteering and event initiatives by working, both with the Communications Manager and independently, to promote opportunities through compelling articles, e-newsletters, social media outreach, public talks and by representing or supporting Company staff at events. 
• Take a lead on designing and creating appropriate training resources for all volunteer roles to manage expectations including, where appropriate, delivery of training. 
• Support members with any queries relating to volunteering opportunities, offering members the chance to talk to MT staff. 
• Ensure that all volunteer members have completed the MT safeguarding questionnaire before they are cleared for any opportunity and has been trained in appropriate MT policy areas (E.g. GDPR/safeguarding) 
• To actively liaise and respond to School requirements to ensure volunteer members deliver excellent support for students. 
• Collaborate closely with Company Schools and internal teams to identify opportunities and design high-quality, sustainable volunteering activities that support project goals and help achieve Company targets. 
• To use the Membership portal to capture and analyse data about Company volunteering in order to evaluate cost/benefit of volunteering efforts, and tell the story of MT’s volunteering impact to the MT membership. 
• Gather and act on feedback from volunteers and participants to inform and improve the Company’s volunteering and education strategies.
• Uphold the health, safety, and wellbeing of all volunteers and participants, following the Company’s Health & Safety policies.
• To take a lead on the administration of Company Volunteering activities including DBS checks, budgeting, database management, website administration, project reporting and meetings. 
• Work with colleagues to identify and co-ordinate other volunteering opportunities at the Company, including responding to enquiries, planning logistics, and delivering high-quality experiences.
• To undertake other duties as may be appropriate for the position to support the wider work of the Company.

Person Specification 

We are looking for:

Essential

• Proven track record of project/events management, including planning, delivery, reporting, evaluation, budgets, and partnership working.
• Proven track record of working meaningfully with different stakeholders ie in a public-facing role. An excellent communicator with strong interpersonal and public engagement skills.
• Good diplomacy skills with the ability to inspire, listen and find a solution for all stakeholders.
• A proactive approach to solving problems and the ability to keep going until a solution is found which works for all.
• A do-er and a thinker; someone who is able to approach situations imaginatively but also spot, and implement, practical and workable solutions. 
• Excellent organisational, planning and IT skills. 

Desirable 

• Experience developing and delivering volunteering and community programmes, working with a wide range of stakeholders. 
• Experience of interacting with or working for a membership organisation 
• Understanding of health & safety, safeguarding, and risk management in a volunteer setting.

To help communities by promoting, developing and supporting sustainable, quality, robustly governed Out of School Childcare Clubs. To meet the need for increased Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) registered childcare across Wales.

• Develop and set up new Out of School Childcare Clubs and/or extend existing provision. Identify, with the help of childcare partnerships, areas for club development.
• Support new and existing clubs and help them develop quality standards, including support and encouragement to register with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW).
• Support Out of School Childcare Clubs to improve sustainability.
• Support Out of School Childcare Clubs to adopt robust legal structures and governance, including support for unincorporated committees to move to a more suitable limited liability structure.
• Identify training needs for Out of School Childcare and promote training opportunities including Playwork qualifications and continuous professional development, signposting to relevant training. Undertake training to enhance the ability to carry out the role.
• Support the delivery of project work as required.
• Support with the planning, standardisations and delivery of online/face to face network events/workshops/training/webinars that inspire Playworkers and Managers and contribute to the fulfilment of children’s right to play and participation.
• Seek new funding opportunities and write funding applications for review by Line Manager.
• Support the strategic work of the organisation and play a positive role in achievements within the work plan, to benefit the Out of School Childcare sector pan Wales. Be an active member of Clybiau Plant Cymru Kids’ Clubs Development Team and contribute effectively to Local Authority Childcare Teams.

This role will be working with our Mental Health Practitioners who work across Croydon, Merton and Sutton.This role will require experience of working in both a 1:1 and group work setting. For this post, you will need to have 3 years or more post qualification experience as a counsellor and ideally a recognised supervision qualification. We are looking for people with an open and flexible attitude; excellent engagement skills and a passion for working with children and young people around mental health. 

This post is fully office based and will require flexible working across service areas and interventions and may involve one late evening alongside attendance of our Saturday Charity Days.

Artsreach is Dorset’s touring arts charity, presenting a programme of professional theatre, dance, music and participatory activity in rural communities of the county. Supported by Dorset Council, Artsreach is also part of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio, and celebrated its 35th Anniversary in 2025. The Marketing & Communications Officer will play a key role in raising the profile of Artsreach. By immersing yourself in our communities, our programme and the stories behind our work, you will create compelling content and build narratives that effectively communicate who we are and the impact we make to audiences, artists, funders and partners.

You will lead the planning and delivery of audience‑focused marketing and communications activity that increases awareness and strengthens engagement. This includes developing clear communications strategies, producing compelling digital and print content, and managing press, social media and other digital platforms.

A key part of the role is storytelling: gathering data, case studies and evidence of impact from across our programmes, and shaping these into accessible, persuasive communications that speak to the needs of our audience, volunteers, supporters and funders. Working closely with the team and our volunteer promoter network, you will ensure that our activity is visible, our messaging is consistent, and our unique contribution to rural communities is clearly understood.

Working within a small team can at times be highly pressurised, so we require someone who can adapt quickly and contribute positively to a supportive and collaborative working culture. This role will suit an individual with strong experience in cultural marketing, who can bring fresh ideas, confidence with digital tools, and a commitment to widening access to the arts across rural communities.
