Job description

Welfare Right Advisor – Energy

Location: Home Based; preferably South/Central Regions with travel 2-3 per week

Salary: £29,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday 30 minutes for Lunch

What you’ll be doing

This is an opportunity to join a busy and dynamic team offering energy switching advice and fronting Anchor Hanover’s suite of Be Wise services to both customers and colleagues as we roll out a fully national team. We are seeking to appoint two Energy Advisors to join our expanding Energy Wise team, one on a permanent basis and one on a six month, fixed term contract.

You will be providing an energy comparison and switching service to guide customers towards the most appropriate energy supplier for their needs, alongside offering energy advice both through a telephone help line and personal visits.

Ensuring that people know how switching supplier can help them save money is vital, so you will lead on communications and briefings on energy news and the energy market to operational colleagues, and co-ordinate road shows and other initiatives aimed at widening access to savings.

Energy Advisors are regionally based in the North and South regions. There is a requirement for travel as part of the role and you can expect to be on one of our housing estates 2-3 times a week.

Advisors are home based and your home location should reflect your ability to cover your region/s to deliver Be Wise events, training and attend meetings.

Key responsibilities

Provide advice in line with agreed procedures and guidance using the tools provided.

Champion the delivery of advice and those services that support customers, colleagues and communities to save money on their energy costs to make their housing costs more affordable.

Maintain a good understanding of the domestic energy market and how to maximise the benefits to customers and colleagues.

Who we need:

To succeed, you will need knowledge of the energy market particularly as it affects older people; direct experience of providing a switching service would be a definite advantage, but not an essential. Coming from a customer service focussed environment, you must be an articulate communicator with a can-do attitude and persuasive presentation skills.

We need people who share our values, people who are friendly, customer focused and have the ability to work with a wide range of people. The role also requires independence and innovation. Being computer literate, willing to travel nationally and stay away overnight as required is essential including a full driving licence.

Who we are:

Anchor Hanover Group is the largest provider of specialist housing and care for people in later life in England, employing more than 9,000 people throughout England. We provide more than 60,000 homes for older people, and are a trusted care provider with more than 100 care homes.

We know that quality services start with quality people. We work hard to be recognised as a leading employer and are committed to retaining and attracting the best in our industry.

At Anchor Hanover Group we believe in values. We are Accountable, Respectful, Courageous and Honest. We believe our people should be proud of the work they do making a difference to society and our customers.

A commitment to growing you through training, professional qualification support and individual development plans

About the role

Location: Homebased within the Central and South regions with offices in Chippenham, Bradford and London.

Employment is subject to a satisfactory Basic Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)

As England’s largest not-for-profit provider of care and housing for older people, we’re able to negotiate great deals and benefits for our people. Here are just a few of the things you’ll get when you work with Anchor Hanover Group:

  • Buy and sell annual leave
  • Exclusive discounts on high-street shopping
  • 20% off mobile phone contracts
  • 25% off Private Healthcare
