Job description

The PR and Communications Officer will support the Senior PR and Communications Officer to raise awareness of the Charity by identifying and promoting compelling stories to regional and national media. Working closely with colleagues across PR and Communications, clinical teams, Fundraising, Marketing and Digital, the role will help to showcase the Charity’s impact on people affected by cancer in the UK and globally, while supporting fundraising activity across all income streams.

The PR and Communications Officer will support the Senior PR and Communications Officer in writing content for relevant in‑house magazine titles, along with using their communications expertise, with guidance from the wider PR and Communications Team, to help promote community fundraising events, corporate partnerships, major donor events and fundraising campaigns.

This a fantastic opportunity for an organised, detail-focused individual with excellent writing skills to help raise awareness of the Charity, making a meaningful difference to people with cancer.

What you’ll be doing  

· Working with the PR and Communications Team to maximise opportunities to promote the Charity’s funding of life-saving research to develop new treatments which have global impact.

· Supporting a comprehensive media service which includes the proactive sell in of positive stories about the work of the Charity.

· Building relationships with clinical colleagues and in particular, Charity-funded consultants, nurses, researchers, and allied health professionals to gain their support for Charity communications including press releases, tailored pitches, other print media channels and the Charity's magazine.

· With support, write and edit the Charity’s supporter magazine, Progress, in collaboration with the Charity’s leadership team and fundraising colleagues.

· Working with fundraising teams to identify unique and inspiring stories associated with the Charity’s annual calendar of events and campaigns.

· Relevant media relations experience, including experience of crafting tailored pitches for media outlets.

· Proven track record of delivering compelling copy, in the right tone and to deadline.

· Strong interpersonal skills - the ability to build effective and productive relationships with colleagues and case studies.

· Strong organisational skills – the ability to plan and prioritise content development in line with agreed targets and timelines.

· Experience of managing stakeholders both within and outside an organisation, at all levels.

About the Team
The Ministry Development Team (MDT) is a team of 45 people which sits within the Archbishops' Council. We are nationally responsible for ensuring that there is a pipeline of lay and ordained ministers together with their terms of service and the development of future and current senior leaders to meet the missional needs of the church. As such we have a key role to play in the delivery of our national Vision and Strategy in which we aspire to be a church which is Jesus Christ shaped and centred.

Our work requires us to work collaboratively with a wide range of stake holders and partners including the 42 Church of England Dioceses, 20 Church of England Theological Colleges, the House and College of Bishops, the College of Cathedral Deans and the College of Archdeacons together with a range of universities and other external bodies. Our work is overseen by the Ministry Development Board, which is a subcommittee of the Archbishops' Council and is chaired by a Diocesan Bishop.

About the Role

The Ministry Human Resources (HR) Lead will be line managing a colleague (the Ministry HR Policy Officer) and work in collaboration with colleagues across the church, especially in the MDT and HR teams.

The Ministry HR Lead will be supported by the Advisory Group for Terms of service and Wellbeing of Ministers (AGTAWM). AGTAWM is chaired by the lead Bishop for ministerial terms of service and wellbeing, and is a subcommittee of the Ministry Development Board. The Ministry HR Lead is currently a member of the MDT leadership team and reports to the Director of the Ministry.

Responsibilities

Leadership

• Lead the collaborative development and implementation of new and revision of existing ministerial HR policies and practice in collaboration with AGTAWM and other key stakeholders especially dioceses including recommendations for changes to church legislation
• Ensure that ministerial HR policy and practice is consistent with the ongoing development of wider legislative and HR developments inside the church and in wider society particularly changes in good employment practice
• Lead ministerial HR projects as required and provide ministerial HR support to projects led by others
• Support the Archbishops' Council in carrying out their responsibilities as the Central Stipends Authority
• Provide advice to dioceses on specific HR matters when appropriate
• Support the induction of Archdeacons and Diocesan HR advisers
• Act as the key NCI contact for organisations including CECA (trade union) and the Retired Clergy Association

Governance

JOB PURPOSE
The Supporter Engagement Executive will act as a central point of contact for all RLSS UK supporters across every fundraising income stream, ensuring they receive a warm, knowledgeable and professional experience whether they’re looking to find out more about RLSS UK, taking part in an activity, or choosing to donate.

You will play a key role in championing our supporters, helping us understand their needs and continuously improve their experience. By gathering feedback, spotting themes and sharing insights with the wider team, you’ll highlight opportunities and challenges that help shape how we engage with supporters in the future.

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Deliver excellent supporter care, including responding to email, post and telephone enquiries, issuing receipts, and carrying out donor follow‑up.
• Provide warm and consistent stewardship to donors, including personalised contact such as telephone calls, letters, handwritten cards and emails.
• Be the first point of contact for community groups, schools and clubs, offering guidance, support and fundraising materials.
• Support recruitment and stewardship of challenge event participants, ensuring they feel informed, motivated and appreciated.
• Support community fundraisers throughout their activity, providing resources, stewardship and encouragement. 
• Record and track community fundraising activity within the CRM.
• Support the development and delivery of supporter journeys, helping ensure communications and touchpoints are timely and engaging.
• Manage stock of supporter materials, including running vests, swim caps, donation buckets and collection tins, ensuring timely fulfilment of requests.
• Assist with the implementation of the new CRM system, including accurate data entry and supporting the wider team during the transition.
• Maintain CRM data to a high standard, including running reports, tagging, updating preferences and ensuring excellent data governance.
• Accurately record donations and supporter correspondence within the CRM system.
•  Provide administrative support to the Income Generation team, assisting with general tasks and contributing to the smooth running of fundraising activity.

Hilldrop Road is a registered care home providing long term accommodation, support and care to up to 29 men with a history of alcohol misuse, homelessness and mental health conditions, with related physical health needs. The UCL Dementia Research Centre (DRC), based in the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease and led by Professor Nick Fox, is a hub for clinical research into various forms of dementia. Our work focuses on identifying and understanding the disease processes that cause dementia, the factors that influence these disease processes, and how best to support people with dementia and their families. In addition to our research, we also provide a cognitive disorders clinic within the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Rare Dementia Support (RDS) is a UCL-led collaborative service offering specialist social, emotional and practical support services for individuals living with, or affected by, a rare dementia diagnosis. Our vision is for all individuals with, at risk of, or supporting someone with one of these forms of dementia to have access to information, tailored support and guidance, and contact with others affected by similar conditions. RDS is provided by the UCL Dementia Research Centre (DRC) at the Queen Square Institute of Neurology and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery - where the post is based - and partners, and funded by The National Brain Appeal.

You will contribute to the work of the Rare Dementia Support (RDS) direct support team providing advice via support calls and in-person at the new Rare Dementia Support Centre (RDSC) by supporting people living with atypical, inherited, and young onset dementias, their carers, their families, and their friends, and professionals and practitioners working to support them. This role includes the opportunity to shape and direct special projects related to the development of new support groups, professional training, or patient and public involvement/engagement (PPI/E), in line with the activities of RDS and the wider Dementia Research Centre.

This post is offered on a hybrid basis with the expectation that you will be on site or at agreed regional work locations for 60-80% of your working week. You will also be expected to occasionally work on Saturdays and some evenings to attend support group-related activities which are usually held off-site in central London (but may require business travel). Policy Campaigns Officer

A permanent position has arisen as part of the continued growth of our campaigns work within our friendly Policy, Public Affairs and Campaigns department. The Policy Campaigns Officer will play a key role in helping the charity deliver high-impact campaigns that mobilise supporters, influence policy, and raise awareness of issues relating to dementia research.

In this role you will support the Campaigns Manager to deliver integrated advocacy campaigns aligned to Alzheimer's Research UK’s strategic objectives. About the Role

We’re seeking a Management Accountant to lead our Finance team and ensure the smooth running of financial operations across the organisation.

As Management Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in delivering accurate and timely management accounts, supporting financial decision-making, and ensuring compliance with charity-specific financial regulations. You’ll work closely with your line manager, Head of Financial Planning, to analyse financial performance and drive process improvements that enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities of the Management Accountant role

• Provide day-to-day line management and oversee workload allocation within the Finance team.
• Maintain accurate records of income and expenditure in line with charity SORP (Statement of Recommended Practice). Training can be given. 
• Prepare monthly management accounts, including variance analysis.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and relevant charity legislation.
• Ensure accurate preparation and timely submission of VAT returns, Payroll and associated taxes.
• Monitor Restricted and Unrestricted funds, ensuring appropriate allocation and reporting.
• Work with operational teams to provide information, support income generation and facilitate reporting.

About You

• Proven experience in management accounting and team supervision.
• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or qualified by experience.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and a willingness to learn charity-specific regulations.
• Proficient in financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
• Empathy with the aims of hospice provision.

A chance to showcase your talents and make a real difference. An opportunity has arisen for an individual to join our health team working at the Bristol Royal Infirmary providing advice, information and guidance to adults who care for others who can’t manage without their help - Carers.

Our Hospital Carer Liaison Workers work at both the BRI and Southmead Hospitals supporting carers when the person they care for goes into hospital, making sure the carers voice is heard and their needs are supported, including during discharge planning. This involves working closely with, and liaising across clinical, Nursing and multidisciplinary staff and departments. We also work with hospital staff to improve their knowledge and experience of supporting carers, through development work and training.

We are looking for a dynamic and creative individual with proven experience in:

• Information and advice work, including providing support and advocacy to individuals.

• working with individuals needing emotional and practical support.

• working in or with a health or social care environment.

• Experience of working in partnership with other organisations.

• Able to work independently managing a caseload.

About the role:

As an IDVA you will:-

• Ensure that male survivors' safety and housing needs are met by supporting survivors to access safe accommodation
• Provide a pro-active, high quality, frontline service to victims of domestic abuse through on-going risk assessment, individual safety planning, advocacy, emotional and practical support.
• Work within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse to keep safety central to all services for victims of domestic abuse
• Promote the service and raising awareness of issues arising, minimising barriers and improving access to support

You will need:

• Experience of providing support those affected by domestic abuse
• An understanding of the principles of risk assessment, safety planning and risk management for victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Knowledge of safeguarding issues, and the legal responsibilities surrounding these issues.
• A good understanding of Housing Law to be able to provide up to date advice and information on housing related needs
• Strong communication, negotiation and advisory skills, both written and verbal when interacting with a range of agencies and individuals.
• An understanding of commitment to equal opportunities and diversity issues in policy and practice.
• Strong crisis management skills and the ability to deal with stressful and difficult situations.
