Are you a strategic communications professional who is looking for an exciting new role to build brand awareness with a local and international impact?
We’re looking for a dog-loving Strategic Communications Manager, with expert working knowledge of communications strategy, planning, delivery and evaluation, to be responsible for a number of campaigns across brand and our international work.
What does this role do?
As Strategic Communications Manager, you’ll:
- build strategic plans for key projects, scoping, and planning for communications across the marketing mix (paid, owned, and earned channels), as we strive to improve animal welfare in the UK and worldwide,
- shape key messages for campaigns, often distilling complex information into clear narratives, using evidence-based messaging frameworks,
- brief external agencies and content delivery teams and channel leads on activity, closely monitoring to ensure assets and output are on time and to spec,
- deliver campaigns across owned, earned and paid channels
- embed evaluation frameworks from the very beginning of every campaign, ensuring success can be measured effectively.
First stage interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for weeks commencing 17th August and 24th August 2026, and will take place on Teams.
Could this be you?
To be successful in this role, you’ll have experience of leading strategic marketing and communications projects, utilising excellent project management and communication skills to deliver and shape compelling stories and campaigns. This role will work on some of our brand and international projects, so we’re particularly interested in hearing from candidates who have experience working in these areas. You’ll have excellent stakeholder management experience, as well as strong evaluation skills, with experience of using clear evaluation methodologies. A commitment to Dogs Trust and the work we do is essential.

Lead a pod in our long-running Floating Support service: hold the relationships, develop placement students, and stay close to the work.
At Likewise, the core of what we do is build meaningful one-to-one relationships with people who are finding life difficult, and use those relationships to help people feel supported and make change.
We're recruiting a Pod Leader to join our Floating Support team. As a Pod Leader, you are the person who holds that relationship with every client in your pod. You know them, stay alongside them over the long term, and are accountable for their support, even though many of the visits are carried out by the placement students you lead. You're the person who stays, while others come and go around the work.
You also play a big part in developing your students. Most arrive with no experience of this kind of work, and a lot of what makes a pod work well is the way you help them learn to do it.
Floating Support has been running for over twenty years. It's long-term, flexible support for adults in Camden, in sessions of around two hours, wherever works for the person. We reopened referrals in 2024, and the service is growing, which is part of why this role matters.
Likewise is a community-centred mental health and wellbeing charity based in Camden. We believe that people thrive when they have access to meaningful relationships, supportive communities and opportunities to contribute. We're also committed to building a different kind of organisation, one that values trust, learning, autonomy and shared responsibility.
You don't need a specific qualification to apply, and we welcome people from a range of backgrounds. But this is not an entry-level role. We need people with a good amount of work experience behind them, including some real experience of support work, whether paid or through volunteering. We're more interested in how you are with people, how you think and how you work than in your CV on paper.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
Early applications are encouraged - we may conduct interviews as suitable candidates apply and we're ready to hire if we find the right person before the job ad closes.
We want to make our recruitment as inclusive as possible. If there is a part of this process where you may need reasonable adjustments to do your best, please get in touch to chat it through.
Your CV: we welcome either chronological or skills-based CVs, whichever works best for you.
Your cover letter: we will not accept generic letters. You need to answer the following questions:
Question 1. Tell us about a time you supported someone through something difficult. What did you actually do, what was hard about it, and what did you learn? This can be from work or from volunteering. Please answer in no more than 500 words.
Question 2. Are you applying for a 4 or 5 day role, or are you flexible? Just a line is fine.
We support often isolated, marginalised or excluded people by building authentic relationships and community together.

The client requests no contact from agencies or media sales.

You'll report to the Chair of our Fundraising and Promotion Committee and work closely with our Operations Manager, with strategy and support offered throughout. Your role will be operational, with a focus on delivery and community engagement, and you'll be encouraged to make your own mark on it as we grow.
Destitute Animals Shelter has developed a Fundraising Strategy for 2025 – 27, and we're looking to diversify our income streams to make sure we're hitting the financial targets that cover the rising costs of the good work we do daily at our Shelter. With support from the Committee, you'll help shape that strategy as well as deliver against it.
What You'll Be Doing

- Support the delivery of the DAS fundraising strategy and income targets.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with individual supporters, local businesses, community groups and donors.
- Research and identify new fundraising opportunities, grants, sponsorships and community partnerships.
- Organise and promote fundraising campaigns, appeals and supporter initiatives.
- Encourage regular giving, sponsorship and community-led fundraising.
- Keep accurate records of donations and supporter information, and make sure all activity complies with relevant legislation, GDPR and charity best practice.
Events:
- Plan, organise and deliver fundraising and awareness events throughout the year.
- Coordinate the logistics – venues, volunteers, suppliers, sponsorship and promotional materials.
- Represent the charity at community events, talks, open days and networking opportunities.
- Support the volunteers involved and evaluate each event so we keep improving.
Community and Promotion:
- Help raise the profile of the charity across the Bolton area.
- Build relationships with local media, schools, businesses and community organisations.
- Work with colleagues and volunteers to create engaging fundraising and promotional content, and promote our mission, values and rescue work in a positive, professional way.
Administration:
- Maintain fundraising databases, records and financial information accurately.
- Help prepare and distribute fundraising materials and communications.
- Keep an eye on stock levels of fundraising merchandise and promotional items.
- Support reporting on fundraising income, expenditure and event outcomes.
Is This You?
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
- Experience of organising events, fundraising activities or community engagement initiatives.
- A track record of building positive relationships with supporters, customers, volunteers or community groups.
- Experience of working towards targets and deadlines.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email systems.
- Experience of managing social media or promotional campaigns.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisation and time management, and the confidence to work independently and use your initiative.
- GCSEs (Grade A – C) or equivalent in English and Mathematics.
It would be a bonus if you also had a relevant qualification in fundraising, marketing, events or business administration, experience in the charity or animal welfare sector, knowledge of fundraising regulations, or experience using CRM or donor databases.
Above all, we're looking for someone with a genuine passion for animal welfare, an enthusiastic and proactive attitude, and a calm, friendly, can-do manner under pressure. You'll be reliable, professional and trustworthy, a natural team player who genuinely enjoys supporting volunteers, and someone with the emotional intelligence to read the needs of others and the self-awareness to keep growing in the role.
A couple of practical points: You'll need to be a car driver with a full, clean driving licence, and you'll need to be willing to work the occasional evening and weekend to support events and fundraising activities.
