The Finance and Funds Business Partner role is a fantastic opportunity for an individual looking to work for a fast moving, growing organisation. Everything we do is geared to supporting the renowned Christie NHS Foundation Trust to ensure cancer patients receive the highest level of treatment and care and have access to world leading research and technology, ensuring they have the best possible experience.
We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to support the Charity Financial Controller with:
- The financial management of the Charity’s funds and individually funded projects; and
- The financial control and governance of The Christie Charity group, particularly its two wholly owned subsidiaries (The Christie Trading Company Limited and Northern Pathology Developments Limited).
You will be joining The Christie Charity at an exciting time as we seek to diversify the Charity’s income streams through use of innovative social investments and strategic commercial ventures. This position provides an excellent opportunity to develop a deep understanding of charity and commercial finance within a dynamic and purpose-driven organisation.
Financial management
In relation to the financial management of the Charity’s funds, you will ensure that Individual Named Funds, containing designated funds, are utilised in accordance with their Terms of Reference. In relation to the financial management of individually funded projects, you will monitor spend against budgets through accountability mechanisms agreed with The Christie NHS Foundation Trust finance team. The postholder will be an integral part of the Charity finance team and partake in the annual budget setting process to the extent budgets relate to the Charity’s Individual Named Funds or individually funded projects.
As part of your role in the financial management of individually funded projects, you will act a finance business partner to the broader Charity. You will be integral in liaising with the Charity’s newly appointed Grants Manager to ensure they are aware of new projects.
Financial control and governance
You will play a key role in ensuring robust financial control across the Charity group, with the opportunity to take ownership of its two wholly owned subsidiaries: The Christie Trading Company Limited and Northern Pathology Developments Limited. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for overseeing the accuracy and integrity of financial controls and reporting, supporting the Charity’s aim of maintaining strong governance across both charitable and commercial operations.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, budget preparation and monitoring, completing month-end close, submitting quarterly tax returns, and preparing the statutory accounts for both subsidiaries, as well as supporting the Charity Financial Controller in maintaining effective financial control and oversight of the Charity's operations as required.
Additional information
The Finance and Funds Business Partner is a well-established role in the Charity. The successful applicant will be provided on the job training to fulfil this role by the previous postholder who now holds the role of Charity Financial Controller in the organisation.
In the immediate term, day-to-day financial transaction processing will continue to be delivered by The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, therefore, the postholder will be expected to work closely and collaboratively with their finance team to ensure seamless operations and continuity across the Charity group. These responsibilities are expected to transition in full to The Christie Charity by 31 December 2026.
This post would suit an individual who enjoys working in a dynamic, evolving environment, where responsibilities may shift in response to organisational priorities. The postholder must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

The role of a Therapeutic Community Caseworker at the Baobab Centre is to support unaccompanied asylum seeking and refugee adolescents and young adults to access care, basic rights and entitlements and to support their social development and rehabilitation.This role involves working closely with the clinical key worker of each young person and with our wider multidisciplinary team. Baobab aims to be a non-residential therapeutic community with a holistic and integrated perspective.As a Caseworker, you will play a key role within our multidisciplinary team. Our team work together with each other and with agencies and key individuals in young people’s lives, both within and outside of Baobab. A key aspect of the role is communicating with members of the clinical and admin staff team within the Baobab Centre and with other workers in the network around each young person including social workers, teachers, foster carers, lawyers, hospital consultants, housing and benefits workers. etc. You will strive to develop relationships across networks and advocate access to rights and entitlements for our community members.
It is critical that as a Caseworker:
you have an insight to the backgrounds and experiences of both the internal and external factors impacting on the lives of unaccompanied young people attending our centre and an understanding of the broader context in our society as it impacts on young asylum seekers (including invisibility, marginalisation, discrimination and the fact of waiting in uncertainty for a long time.

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead our youth work at a time of development
You’ll manage a small team of youth practitioners and sessional workers while staying connected to frontline delivery. You’ll oversee and deliver group activities, after-school drop-ins and one-to-one mentoring, as well as developing holiday programmes, youth leadership and social action opportunities.
You’ll also help shape the future of our youth provision, working with colleagues across Oasis Hub Waterloo to develop our 0–18 strategy and create new, collaborative services.
Partnership working is central to the role. You’ll develop strong relationships with Oasis Academy South Bank, local youth organisations, community partners and statutory services, helping connect education, health and community provision around the needs of young people.
About you
You’ll bring significant experience of working directly with young people aged 10+, alongside the skills and confidence to lead and develop a youth service.
You’ll have:
· Strong youth work practice, including group and one-to-one work.
· Experience of developing and delivering youth programmes or projects.
· Experience of managing or supervising staff, sessional workers or volunteers.
· Strong partnership and multi-agency working skills.
· A thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
· Experience of monitoring, evaluating and improving services.
· Creativity, initiative and the ability to develop new opportunities for young people.
· A genuine passion for helping young people thrive.
Knowledge of youth services in Lambeth or Southwark, and experience of education, youth leadership, social action or statutory services, would be particularly welcome.
