Baby Lifeline is a highly respected national charity whose mission is to ensure the healthiest and best outcomes possible from pregnancy and birth.
Founded over 40 years ago by Judy Ledger following the personal tragedy of losing three premature babies, we have since purchased many million pounds’ worth of equipment for maternity and neonatal units, produced nationally recognised reports and research projects, staged highly successful annual UK maternity safety conferences, and provided ongoing evidence-based, multi-professional training to reduce avoidable harm and death in maternity. Training is provided through Baby Lifeline Training Ltd. It trains around 4,000 delegates annually and is one of the main providers/developers of training for maternity professionals in the UK.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Baby Lifeline as Chief Operating Officer.
This dual role will include operational responsibility for Baby Lifeline and Baby Lifeline Training Ltd. Sharing the same building as the charity, the Training company is a not-for-profit social enterprise which operates under a service level agreement and brand licence issued by the charity.
Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for directing and controlling all organisational operations in accordance with the strategy and business plans agreed by the CEO and respective Boards of the Charity and Baby Lifeline Training Ltd to ensure that organisational values and objectives are met. Baby Lifeline’s mission is to make care safer and better for every pregnant woman, pregnant person and newborn baby in the UK with the aim of ensuring that no family will experience the avoidable loss of their precious baby or mother.
Chief Operating Officer Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all areas operate efficiently, meet compliance and safety standards, and support the overall purpose of the charity.
- Perform a leading role in driving revenue through developing strong relationships with key stakeholders.
- Represent the charity at external events and meetings where required.
- Financial expertise in setting and managing realistic annual income and expenditure budgets is essential.
- Lead and support management and small staff team.
- Co-ordinate and manage policy, procedure, risk management and wider charity administration.
- Work closely with the CEO and Boards to develop and implement the charity’s strategic vision and values
As Chief Operating Officer, you will have:
- A business degree/MBA or equivalent qualification is desirable.
- Extensive experience in a senior management role.
- Strong leadership, influencing and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Negotiation, conflict resolution and relationship-building skills.
- Robust understanding of financial analysis, management principles and practices.
- Thorough understanding of the charity sector.
- Understanding of business functions i.e. HR, IT, finance etc.

What will you do?
You will work with a highly motivated staff and volunteer team to deliver a quality outreach advice and support service for individuals with an acquired brain injury in Gloucestershire.

4. Supporting people to access resources in their local community including leisure, education, volunteering and employment opportunities.
5. Supporting people to attend appointments and meetings when relevant.

Job Purpose
Carers Manchester Contact Point (CMCP) is the first point of contact for unpaid carers seeking information, advice and support to help them with their caring role.
The service delivers a free confidential helpline for carers weekdays (Monday – Friday, 10am – 4pm). These times are subject to change, based on the needs and requirements of carers using the service.
The aim of this role is to be part of a team providing a comprehensive information, advice and support to carers in Manchester. The post holder will work alongside colleagues from Gaddum and potentially other organisations to be the first contact in a busy service providing advice via a telephone advice line and managing referrals made through digital sources. They will provide information and advice and refer more complex issues to the appropriate agencies delivering the Manchester Carers Pathway.
Key responsibilities
Advice giving
- Answering telephone calls into a central helpline offering support and guidance to unpaid carers in Manchester.
- Provide relevant and meaningful support and information to unpaid carers utilising internal and external resources.
- Inform carers about carers assessments and refer where necessary.
- Inform carers about emergency grants available and refer where necessary.
- Ensure all advice and support given is delivered in a timely manner to suit the needs of carers calling the helpline whilst balancing waiting callers.
Follow-up support
- Refer unpaid carers to local services to access local and culturally appropriate support in their area.
- Refer carers to Adult Social Care for Carers Assessments to discuss and improve their caring situation.
- Signpost carers to relevant services in Manchester suited to their individual need.
- Complete relevant grant applications for carers using the service where needed.
- Use Carers Manchester Contact Point and other reliable and accurate resources to find, interpret and communicate relevant information to carers
- Research and explore options and implications so that carers can make informed decisions.
- Write and maintain detailed case records for all casework completed.
- Collect required data for statistical monitoring and report preparation.
- Complete the required training to comply with quality assurance processes.
The post-holder will be required to undertake other tasks as reasonably directed by the CMCP Coordinator, which will usually be commensurate with the skills and experience of the post-holder.

Campbell Rd Young Peoples service provides support and housing for 55 young people in Tower Hamlets that are either leaving care of affected by youth homelessness. The Support Worker role will be to manage a caseload of approx 7-10 young people.
This role's shift work on a 7 day rolling rota.
What you'll do:
- Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers
- Working proactively with other members of the team to handle the service caseload and administrative responsibilities
- Supporting key customers to set personalised goals in the form of a Support Plan
- Conducting regular key work sessions that are innovative and engaging in order to achieve Support Plan goals
- Ensuring ongoing assessment and management of risks associated with customers within an attitude of 'positive risk taking'

The Philanthropy team at Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) is responsible for securing donations from individual major donors, grant-making trusts and foundations. The role of Philanthropy Officer is key to the success of the Philanthropy team, working closely with other team members and stakeholders across ARUK.
At the heart of the Philanthropy team is our desire to help our supporters change the world, in a way that is meaningful and exciting to them.
We work with a growing portfolio of individual donors and charitable trusts, getting to know them - through meetings, events, lab tours, reporting on the impact of their donations and regular touchpoints - so that we can match their philanthropic goals to our research initiatives. We work hard to provide bespoke stewardship, build relationships, and impart scientific information to promote ARUK and give donors the best possible experience of working with us.
By nurturing these relationships, we gain long-term meaningful support from donors and their networks, and as a result can secure significant donations which range all the way up to eight figures.

Main duties and responsibilities of the role:
Relationship building and income generation
· Build relationships with a portfolio of current and prospective major donors and charitable trusts, gauging their level of interest in our work, providing them with opportunities to engage with ARUK, and encouraging them to invest in our research.
· Develop an engagement plan for each relationship, taking full ownership and moving each donor / trust forward through qualification, solicitation and stewardship.
· Fundraise for different aspects of ARUK’s work, including key research initiatives such as the Drug Discovery Alliance.
· Think ambitiously and creatively in producing compelling and persuasive written communications for donors, including letters, proposals, applications and progress reports.
· Solicit donors for gifts at face-to-face meetings, where appropriate.
· Provide an exceptional level of stewardship to donors, ensuring they are thanked and updated and that their relationship with ARUK grows in depth and value.
· Think innovatively and support the team’s goal to embed the use of digital in our work.
· Work with senior volunteers and senior staff, where appropriate, empowering them to open their networks and ask for support.
· Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues in the Science Communications, Media and Engagement, Research and Finance teams.
CRM
· Ensure donor records are kept up-to-date through daily use of Salesforce.
· Use Salesforce to track income and activity, and as a planning tool.
Events
· Support the Donor Relations Manager in planning bespoke events / lab tours for our supporters, by providing guest lists, communicating with invitees and updating Salesforce records.
· Represent ARUK at Philanthropy team events, and at other ARUK events where major donors or the representatives of charitable trusts may be attending.
What we are looking for:
· Experience gained working in a major gift fundraising or client relationship management role
· Demonstrable experience of developing long-term / strategic relationships
· Demonstrable experience of developing / influencing relationships through face-to-face conversations
· Demonstrable experience of working effectively without close supervision

Additional Information:

How are staff supported to work remotely?
VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community.
When you need to travel for work, expenses will be paid (mileage or public transport costs).
VoiceAbility offers the usual regular manager one to ones, Staff forums and communities of practice depending on role. Team meetings with a mix of virtual and in person approach.

The role
The role is heavily focused on challenge events, with a combination of responsibilities across product management and event delivery.
You will:

Working for the RSS
Pension and benefits
Our defined contribution pension scheme can be joined after three months in post. Your contributions of up to 8% of salary will be double matched by the Society (making a maximum contribution by the Society of 16%). Location
The RSS office is in central London. We offer flexible working arrangements, and this is a hybrid role with a minimum two days a week working in the office.
