THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced Membership and Marketing Manager to join our small but busy Digital team on a fixed term contract for up to 12 months. Reporting to the Director of Engagement and Communications, you will be responsible for the membership and marketing function within the RCSLT to support and engage with our members at all stages of their careers. This is a Maternity Cover post that sits within the Engagement and Communications Team where you will lead and promote our external facing products, campaigns and services. As Membership and Marketing Manager you will be responsible for managing the delivery of member engagement plans, ensure consistent communication with our members internally, plan and deliver activities to promote SLT as a career and support the overall engagement and communications strategy.

The ideal candidate will have marketing qualifications or extensive marketing experience, have strong knowledge of CRM systems (Salesforce is desired), excellent IT skills and knowledge of email marketing systems. The candidate must be highly organised, self-motivated with a positive approach to all situations and be confident in presenting to stakeholders. It would be beneficial if the candidate had previous experience building and executing marketing plans that support core business objectives.

Who: We are looking for an experienced, self-starting Finance Manager for the Central Foundation Schools of London, a charity supporting two state schools in London, with investments and endowments in the region of £40m.
Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will be responsible through the CEO to the Board, for day-to-day management of the charity’s accounts and all financial operations. They will manage the financial record keeping, payroll, pensions, banking and oversee the tracking of Foundation’s investments and income. The postholder will provide accurate financial management information, including quarterly cashflow forecasting and management accounts and co-ordinating the annual budget setting process. They will be responsible for preparing the annual accounts to the required standards and overseeing the annual audit process. They will also provide advice on a range of operational issues to ensure sound asset management, value for money and compliance with statutory requirements relevant to the charity’s financial operations. Our Work: For over 150 years, the Central Foundation Schools of London has supported two schools in inner London. Between them, the Girls’ School at Bow Road, Tower Hamlets and the Boys’ School is based in Cowper Street, Islington provide places to over 2,500 young people. Today, the Foundation continues to benefit students at these two schools while also supporting the schools to strengthen the opportunities, facilities and educational excellence for current and future students.
Our People: We are a small team with three part time staff managing the day to day work of the Foundation. A Board of 18 trustees/directors volunteer their time and skills and collaborate closely with the small staff team. In 2022 the Board started a process of transformation and modernisation of the charity’s operations and processes. In 2023, alongside refreshing our governance, supporting two major building programmes and updating our financial operations, we established our first strategy addressing how we can best support the Schools over the next decade and more.
The Role: To support the exciting opportunities presented by the new strategy, Central Foundation Schools for London are recruiting a permanent Finance Manager to provide professional management of the charity’s accounts, ensuring the charity’s operational effectiveness and efficiency, accurate financial management information and advice, preparation of the annual budget, management of our investment portfolio as well as compliance with statutory for the production of the Annual Statutory Accounts in compliance with latest SORP and legislation.
Experience: We are looking for a fully qualified accountant with good post-qualification experience with the ability to work independently and lead the charity’s financial operations.

The successful candidate will bring talent, enthusiasm, and relevant knowledge and experience to support press and social media strategies and communications across the entire global organisation. The role sits in our global communications team, working with, and reporting to, the Head of Communications. We are a small, high-performing team tasked with increasing the media and social media coverage of BHRRC’s analysis and key findings, as well as supporting and amplifying the efforts of our partners on the ground that are fighting to achieve justice and remedies for victims of abuse.

Responsibilities
The Communications Officer (Media) will have a particular focus on increasing international media coverage of BHRRC’s work and research, and the activities of our partners, including in the field of labour rights. Responsibilities will include:
Drive a proactive and strategic press approach: Spot opportunities for high impact coverage in target outlets, building on existing press lists, develop relationships with priority journalists, and create and pitch compelling content to media, including media advisories, press releases and related materials.
Develop high-impact communications products, synthesising complex research and data sets: Work with our Global Team to develop materials which speak to our key audiences. Develop key messages for our priority programmes and also discrete outputs including individual briefings and research reports.
Contribute to organisational and project communications strategies and planning: Support the Head of Communications to implement our communications strategy. Advise project managers on strategic communications and support launch project planning. Keep our planning calendar up to date and help ensure deadlines are met.
Produce well-written content: Write and edit channel-appropriate content for our audiences. Support the Global Team to produce high-quality and newsworthy reports, op-eds and blogs.
Support digital outputs: Support the Web Content and Senior Digital Officers as appropriate, creating content for our digital platform and social media platforms (including priority platforms LinkedIn and Twitter).
Support the communications team: Provide on-call cover for the media line, with occasional infrequent out of hours work, and share admin jobs.
Key competencies and attributes
Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a communications role, including working in a busy press office, communications department or as a journalist.
Media: Sharp news sense and editorial judgement; ability to conceive, craft and pitch news stories and carry out fast reactive work. Knowledge of and experience of working with the mainstream media, including knowledge of the editorial positions, audiences, and sections or programmes of key outlets. In addition, ideally, knowledge of international business media or media in some specific countries or regions.
Relationship building: Track record of developing relationships with journalists on key issues. Any existing contacts of relevance to BHRRC’s work a bonus.
For-impact communications: Excellent understanding of how strategic communications can work with research and advocacy approaches to achieve change. Proven ability to synthesis and communicate complex and sensitive information; understanding of how to tailor content to different audiences, contexts and channels. Outstanding written English and good oral communications ability.
Project management: Track record of leading and/or implementing complex projects including planning (timelining), execution and evaluation of lessons learned.
Strategic thinking: Track record of helping to develop successful communications strategies to effect change. Experience tailoring communications products for diverse international audiences an asset.
Supporting staff: Enthusiasm for supporting colleagues with communications. Experience supporting staff either through training, coaching or assisting with media advice an asset.
Team player: Experience of, and commitment to, working in high-performing teams that are highly collaborative and focused on outcomes. Experience of working with colleagues remotely, and in multicultural and diverse cultures and working environments also desirable.
Knowledge of human rights issues: A strong interest in international issues and familiarity with social justice issues desirable.
Languages: Must be fluent in English. Additionally Japanese or Spanish in particular, and/or French, Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese, or Russian language skills would also be an asset.

Charity People is delighted to be partnering with Dystonia UK to recruit a Communications Officer to join their small and growing team. A charity supports people living with dystonia; an often debilitating and painful disorder that is lifelong and is estimated to affect around 100,000 people in the UK, Dystonia UK is a lifeline for many. In addition to running vital support groups, this small but mighty organisation actively lobbies on behalf of patients and runs national awareness campaigns to help increase understanding of a condition that can be hugely debilitating.
The organisation is expanding and is looking for a talented Communications Officer to work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Communications in a role that will be busy, hands on, and key to communicating the amazing and important work this organisation undertakes to its audiences.
Key responsibilities within the Communications Officer role will include:
- Writing engaging copy for a variety of mediums including both printed and digital
- Support the Director of Fundraising and Communications in creating and designing digital and print collateral for campaigns and events
- Lead on the design and publication of high-quality digital and print information about Dystonia UK, its services, projects, and about dystonia, the condition, and medical services.
- Work closely with the Director of Fundraising and Communications to identify and communicate key news items and be responsible for the production and dissemination of the e-marketing
- Manage Dystonia UK's social media channels on a day-to-day basis ensuring all activity is in line with the charity's brand and communication strategy and work closely with the Directors to produce and develop the social media content schedule
- Engage directly with the organisations community by drafting private messages, replying to comments, and passing actions on to other members of staff where required.
- Creating and adapting content for each channel to maximise reach and engagement.
- Work with colleagues to provide event support by creating content to promote the event, liaising with speakers and partner organisations, and attending conferences and events where required
- Plan and organise activities to raise awareness of Dystonia UK, tying in with other notable calendar events such as Dystonia Awareness Month
- Support the Director of Fundraising and Communications to ensure that the organisation's branding is upheld in all aspects of external communication.

Dystonia UK is a small charity, and this is a busy role where someone with some communications experience will have the opportunity to work closely with a dynamic Director to really develop their skills and expertise both operationally and strategically. You'll be in a position of responsibility and will be able to work autonomously whilst also working with closely with and being supported to learn.

- Previous demonstrable experience in a communications or marketing role including experience of writing website copy that is optimised for SEO, experience of design and content creation, and of copywriting for different audiences

- Experience of planning social media posts and of how to grow audience numbers
- Excellent written communication skills including creative copywriting and the ability to present complex information clearly

About the role
This hands-on role will lead the implementation of global communications strategies for ITF’s Land and
Air Sections (LAS): Aviation, Railways, Road Transport, Tourism and Urban Transport.
The LAS Communications Manager will work closely with the industrial sections and affiliates to push forward a union-led agenda for the aviation and inland transport industries.
Working within a multi-disciplinary team, this role will work collaboratively to deliver and evaluate forward-thinking communication strategies for these industrial work programs and their priority campaigns. The role will include targeting diverse audiences including transport workers in the industries, employers, allies, media, policy makers, political leaders and the wider public. The role will also play a crucial role in ensuring that section’s industrial priorities and issues are reflected and integrated in organisation-wide communications priorities and areas of focus.
Fundamental to this role will be an ability to develop expert knowledge and keep on top of policy and industrial issues facing aviation, railway, road transport, tourism and public transport workers, and effectively interpret and analyse the complex issues and challenges into communications strategies that advance workers’ rights.
You will be part of delivering solidarity and support to local, national and global disputes, building communications that reinforce the critical role transport workers in the land and air industries play, developing strategies to support union-led policies on everything from health and safety to sustainability, and raising the volume on the global struggle to advance the rights and equalities of the world’s transport workers.

Communications:
- Develop, contribute to and implement impact-driven and strategic communications campaigns that build Kineara’s fundraising capacity and raise awareness of the issues
