The Research and Impact Lead role brings scope for dynamic collaboration across the organization, and creativity in applying research and evaluation expertise to a range of opportunities. The Research and Impact Lead will shape, drive and deliver a range of learning activities. They will be a voice for evidence-based decision making within BookTrust, ensuring that we put the needs of children, families, and our delivery partners at the heart of our work.
In this role we are looking for an experienced mixed methods researcher to oversee our MEL approach, develop and deliver new learning and funding partnerships and contribute to our portfolio of cross departmental learning activities – working to deliver research activities or supporting our team of in-house researchers through providing steer and quality assurance.

The role is largely responsible for delivery of 1MM Mentoring Programmes. This includes partnership development, matching mentors/mentees, and oversight of mentoring relationships. I'm excited to be working with Drinkaware to find them a temporary Digital Marketing Manager. This is purely a technical role, with a focus on SEO, PPC marketing, Grants Pro and Google Analytics 4. You must be a GA4 expert, it is essential for this temporary cover. You will have solid digital marketing delivery skills and work collaboratively with the digital and marketing teams to increase website traffic and drive Drinking Check completions. Working in a close-knit team, you will be Drinkaware's GA4 expert, able to provide data and insights as required, and be an excellent team player who is able to articulate the technical jargon in basic terms.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement an impactful SEO strategy that meets the organisational objectives
- Together with the Content Lead and Web Product Owner, ensure SEO best practice and strong keyword research is at the heart of Drinkaware's digital marketing activities.
- Implement SEO housekeeping changes using Site Improve
- Lead on GA4 and other measurement tools; maintain marketing reporting dashboards.
- Work with the Evidence & Impact and UX teams to evaluate end-to-end CX across multiple channels and user touch points, optimising landing pages and user funnels.
- Support the Marketing and Brand Officer to maintain and develop the Grants Pro account

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The primary focus of this external-facing role is to ensure that Bond’s member organisations are deeply engaged across a wide-range of Bond services and activities.
Using an account management approach, you will thrive on seeking out, building and nurturing relationships with key job roles at every level within our member organisations, offering them regular support and advice on how to get the most out of their membership of Bond.
As the first point of contact for Bond members, you will deliver outstanding customer service with a warm, helpful, and confident demeanour, lead meetings with members to understand their needs and identify engagement opportunities, and introduce members to Bond colleagues when appropriate. A firm grasp of the Member Value Proposition is essential, as is the ability to confidently and enthusiastically speak to all aspects of it when interacting with members.
Working alongside the membership and marketing manager, you will help to develop and implement strategies to retain existing members, using data (in Salesforce, our CRM) to inform and tailor our approach including identifying members with low activity or gaps in engagement. You will gather feedback and intel from members through surveys and other mechanisms so that we better understand how and why they value Bond and to identify potential new initiatives and services they may find useful. One of your responsibilities is member renewals (which is integrated with Salesforce), in which you will work with the Salesforce Adviser to ensure that the process is optimised and efficient. You will also regularly compose member emails and newsletters and contribute to Bond reporting and Board papers.
While the role sits in the Communications and Member Services team, it is integral across the organisation. You will regularly meet and collaborate with colleagues across our policy and advocacy, sector transformation and senior leadership teams to possess a thorough understanding their work and the value-add it provides to members. You will lead on the design, implementation, delivery and continuous improvement of a MEL framework based on the ISARIC ToC model, using research and insight to inform developments. This will include defining and implementing cross-team data collection processes and tools, creating and championing a strategy for dissemination of and access to ISARIC outputs, and preparing reports.
PSI-wide activity
You will deliver guidance to other groups within PSI. This will include supporting researchers to articulate impact in grant applications and publications, and providing MEL expertise to ongoing projects. You may also be required to work with colleagues across the wider Department of Medicine to prepare material for the Research Excellence Framework 2028.
It is essential that you hold a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, alongside significant experience of planning and conducting monitoring and evaluation using different methodologies, gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative data to demonstrate reach and significance of research impact. You will have excellent diplomacy, interpersonal and listening skills with proven ability to relate well to staff at all levels. Familiarity with the UK Research Excellence Framework and experience in monitoring and evaluation of scientific, global health or policy research would be desirable.
