As part of this growth, we have re-imagined our Principal Gifts team and are pleased to present 3 positions to join us.

As a Principal Gifts Lead you will be part of a team that is responsible for building deep and meaningful relationships with donors and prospective supporters who have the potential to transform the future and impact of UCL. Focusing on cultivating, soliciting and stewarding a mixed portfolio of prospects with the capacity to give at the £5m+ level, these positions offer an opportunity for ambitious and experienced high-value fundraising professionals to help drive UCL’s principal giving programme forward.

You will play a key role in the successful delivery of our fundraising and engagement activities, working with key colleagues and stakeholders across the University as well as with a mission-critical senior volunteer network around the world.  To be successful, you therefore need to bring well-rounded knowledge of best-in-class principal gifts fundraising, and a demonstrable track record of directly soliciting or orchestrating the successful cultivation of seven-figure philanthropic gifts for the organisations and causes you’ve represented. 

With highly developed interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, and a creative and goal-orientated approach, you know how to build longstanding partnerships that help multiple stakeholders realise their ambitions.  You enjoy playing the different roles in fundraising, and know how to gauge what is most appropriate – the driver or the navigator, the broker or the facilitator – as you are motivated by achieving transformative outcomes that matter.  In return, you will join a team of passionate individuals who work together to achieve remarkable things with a global impact.

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) are recruiting for a new Chief Executive .

BFT is a charity established to restore native woodland habitats to Southern Scotland, an area with the lowest percentage of native woodlands in mainland Scotland. Since 1996, we have been working towards planting trees, restoring peatlands and other natural habitats, enriching the biological diversity of around 31 sq km in the Southern Uplands. They demonstrate large scale ecological restoration in action, and inspire landowners, statutory bodies, local communities and policy makers to embrace this alternative model for land use and conservation.

The charity’s previous Director has led the organisation for five years, and BFT are in a strong position, ready to develop a new organisational strategy and grow. This is a role of great strategic importance to the charity and the role is varied, with a broad remit.  

The Chief Executive role has organisational responsibility for 12 members of staff, some office based but most out and about across the countryside in which BFT works.  

As Chief Executive, you’ll bring proven senior leadership experience and the ability to get the best from staff and volunteers. A natural communicator, you’ll engage confidently with a wide range of people – from volunteers and donors to policymakers and conservation experts. 

You’ll have experience generating significant income in the not-for-profit sector, alongside strengths in strategic planning and programme development. Passionate about conservation, you’ll be an inspiring ambassador for Borders Forest Trust, able to share our impact and build lasting partnerships that help us achieve our vision. 

This role is hybrid based, with candidates being in the Head Office in Jedburgh (Scottish Borders) once or twice weekly, with other time spent out and about across the geography BFT covers. About you

About the role

Reporting in to the Head of Impact, the Humanitarian Lead for the Latin America and Caribbean region will play a lead role in setting up new emergency programmes as well as managing existing emergency response programmes across Christian Aid programmes globally but with a primary focus on an agreed set of countries to maximise impact. 

In the Latin America and Caribbean region, Christian Aid operates in Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Haiti. 

The post-holder will will ensure Christian Aid’s people-centred humanitarian reform advocacy agenda is energetically communicated in relevant regional and country policy forums, so that the humanitarian sector regionally takes visible steps toward more people-centred and locally led humanitarian programming and aligns with organisational values and goals. 

Some of the key responsibilities of the role of Humanitarian Lead are:

• Manage and collaborate on new and existing humanitarian and emergency response programmes internally and externally to maximise impact.

• Professional accounting or finance qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).

What the job involves

We're on the lookout for a motivated Direct Marketing professional to bring their skills to our Individual Giving Team, with a focus on retention campaigns.

Direct Marketing plays an important role in the Charity’s fundraising and overall corporate strategy. We’re looking for a confident and proactive fundraiser to take responsibility for the delivery and ongoing development of our current retention programme.

You’ll deliver timely, targeted, relevant communications to our warm audiences; newly recruited and existing cash supporters and regular givers with the aim of strengthening loyalty and increasing their lifetime value.

With internal and external stakeholders, you’ll project manage existing direct marketing campaigns in the form of direct mail appeals, emails, telemarketing and occasional stewardship events. You’ll consistently analyse KPIs and make evidence-based decisions to help assist with growing the programme and delivering our overall financial target.

What we want from you

Aside from excellent knowledge and experience of working in a direct marketing environment, which includes developing and implementing retention focused direct marketing campaigns, you’ll also have a range of channel experience and marketing knowledge.

You’ll possess first class communication skills, a strong team ethic and you’ll be at ease working with internal and external stakeholders at all levels. The ability to manage budgets and projects is also essential, along with proven knowledge of data protection and sector compliance. Key purpose:

As part of a growing and dynamic Fundraising team, your main duties will be to research trust and foundations, create and send applications and steward relationship with current and future charitable trusts. As part of the team, you will also be involved in generating funds across various other income streams.

Key responsibilities:

• Research and identify charitable trusts which may provide future financial support to RABI whilst maximising the potential for giving from trusts with which the Charity already has a relationship.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key trust representatives.
• Prepare, submit and monitor applications to charitable trusts including the maintenance of records of applications, grant receipts and successful/failed submissions. Ensure Trusts are thanked for donations in timely fashion.
• Updating the CRM system to ensure activities, communications, donations and other important details are accurately recorded and maintained.
• Compile statistical and background research to support the development of new and existing relationships with Charitable trusts.
• Monitor trust income for Finance purposes, ensuring all donations or grants are coded appropriately, including any restrictions upon the use of the income.
• Creating monthly reports on trust income received.
• Support regular and individual giving, corporate, legacy and other income streams.
• Provide general administrative and wider Fundraising team support.

Person Specification:

Essential

• A minimum of three years’ experience of successful trust fundraising.
• A good understanding of fundraising disciplines.
• A pro-active team player who is also self-motivated and confident working independently.
• A good communicator, whether face to face, by telephone, virtual calls or in writing.
• Able to convey complex information accurately, succinctly and engagingly.
• Enthusiastic, adaptable, agile and resilient, with the ability to focus, prioritise and manage all aspects of this varied role in a fast-paced environment.

About the role

Reporting in to the Head of Multi-Country Cluster (MCC), the Operations Lead for the Latin America & Caribbean region is a member of the senior leadership team and provides strategic and representational leadership for the cluster on operational excellence, making things happen for programme colleagues and partners across multiple countries and connecting with other departments to facilitate programme and advocacy impact, aligning with organisational values and goals.

The post-holder will manage internal operations for effective programme delivery across the MCC, including ensuring that partners
(active, inactive, new) are supported with capacity assessments (POCRA), in line with Charter for Change commitments, and putting in place systems and procedures to ensure swift, compliant funding flows to partners in high-risk environments in line with Christian Aid’s risk appetite to maximise impact.

The role will ensure compliance to Christian Aid grant making policies though close cooperation with finance and partnership leads.

Christian Aid operates in Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Haiti within the Latin America and Caribbean region. 

Some of the main areas of responsibility for the Operations Lead will include:

• Drive our systems to enable better high-performance and delivery of strategy at MCC, aligning with organisational values and goals.
• Foster a mindset of connection and collaboration across the priority countries that enable portfolio leads to achieve success. 
• Foster a team mindset to ensure that the Business Insight and Process Improvement Team work alongside the Tech Team to support improvements in ways of working and build towards operational excellence through systems developments and improvements to maximise impact. 
• Manage our risk appetite by planning well, having agile budgets, invest in innovation while maintaining our integrity as a UK registered charity and a going concern. 
• Drive the team to ensure adaptability and agility of our programmes, keeping our organisation lean, finding cost-effective solutions and streamline decision making to enable flexible and responsive to evolving needs and contexts within the MCC.
• Oversee the digital platforms to ensure they secure and provide new ways to engage communities and develop new innovative technological use (including where AI is applied), to listen to and work with CSOs and other partners, as well as provide exciting and decolonial ways to gather data about impact across the MCC. 
• Manage internal operations for effective programme delivery and ensure cost efficiency by considering whether repetitive and/or non-core activities are best provided by a third party via outsourcing to finding cost-effective and streamlined solutions.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a newly formed Trusts and Foundations team, with a mission to raise funds for CARE International’s work globally to shift power and resources to women and local communities.

As part of the Partnerships & Philanthropy (P&P) team, you will form and nurture relationships with UK based Trusts and Foundations, securing five and six figure partnerships with small and medium sized organisations. You will manage your own portfolio of five and six figure UK based Trusts and Foundations, and support the Senior Trusts and Foundations Manager with large opportunities.
