The Operations Manager is responsible for Dose of Nature’s day-to-day operational management, providing a welcoming and efficient front face and ensuring organisational effectiveness to support the delivery of Dose of Nature’s strategic objectives. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic team player to join our warm and friendly charity team on a full-time basis for a period of one year, with the possibility of a part-time position thereafter. Dose of Nature is in an exciting phase as we continue to receive greater funding to expand our reach. The nature of the job responsibilities may require occasional flexible hours, including some evening and weekend hours up to 6 times per year, or adjusted beginning and ending times, for example to support with monthly evening training sessions. 

Dose of Nature is a mental health charity whose objective is to improve the mental health and wellbeing of individuals through increased engagement with the natural world. Our work is rooted in a wealth of scientific evidence that demonstrates the physiological and psychological benefits of spending time in nature. We deliver ‘nature prescriptions’ to people referred by their GP with a wide range of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Our Dose of Nature Prescription Programme is overseen by psychologists and is a genuine alternative to both medication and more traditional psychological interventions. Through a combination of education, first-hand experience, and practical and motivational support, we aim to encourage a greater connection with nature, and inspire lifestyle changes that will have a significant and lasting impact on mental wellbeing. Dose of Nature is a fun, supportive and lively organisation that encourages creativity and independence, as well as a strong sense of working together as a team. 

The role is 37.5 hours per week and will involve working at Pensford Field, Kew, Monday to Wednesday from 9am-5:30pm and from home Thursday and Friday 9-5:30pm.

Key responsibilities and duties 

• To oversee the smooth running of the studio and field, ensuring Dose of Nature’s operational systems, processes and policies are fit-for-purpose, compliant with current legal requirements and are maintained effectively and efficiently. 

• To be the initial point of contact for all enquiries, responding quickly and efficiently to requests for information and other enquiries from a wide range of stakeholders, including clients, volunteer guides and trustees, health professionals, supporters, media, and academic institutions. 

• To be the main point of contact for volunteer guides; leading all aspects of the recruitment and induction process with the support from our Senior Administrator; and providing guidance and support to existing guides – including management of the on-going training programme. 

• To manage the programme of regular group sessions – ensuring volunteer group leaders and participants have the support they need so the sessions run smoothly; ensuring volunteer group leaders and participants have the support they need so the sessions run smoothly; ensuring dedicated support is in place for each group and proactively managing the seasonal timetable. 

• To assist the team in monitoring performance, including preparing internal and external performance reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. 

• To manage and oversee the booking system for all client appointments and to support psychologists as appropriate. 

• To manage communication and marketing materials, including maintenance of website, developing and updating printed materials including promotional leaflets, training booklets, and weekly timetable communication emails and bi-annual newsletters. Work with Senior Administrator to distribute regular communications and materials and to maintain a dynamic collection of digital copy including photos, videos and media footage. 

• To lead community relationship building for Dose of Nature, to include attending promotional and networking events from time to time. 

• To assist the Chief Executive in the implementation and continued development of the Growth Strategy, including providing regular updates to trustees. 

• To manage the internship and work experience programmes – overseeing recruitment, giving clear guidance on standards and day-to-day management support. 

• To ensure statutory compliance with Health and Safety legislation – conducting risk assessments, monitoring performance and reviewing procedures. 

• To plan and coordinate regular Dose of Nature community social events, including two half day events and monthly evening events and AGM. 

• To monitor monthly spend and budgets including payment of expenses and incoming donations.

The Amber Trust provides musical opportunities for blind and partially sighted children, including those with additional disabilities, via its Music Awards and Music Services.

 Role purpose

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible to the Board of Trustees for leading The Amber Trust, developing and realising Amber’s vision and strategy, and playing a key ambassadorial role with funders and other senior stakeholders. The CEO is responsible for the management of the charity and its staff and the execution of Amber’s targets, plans and policies, ensuring that resources are used to best effect in meeting the needs of beneficiaries. The CEO is responsible for initiating and overseeing new initiatives that will ensure Amber plays a leading role in the field of music and blindness in children and young people into the future.

Role Description

Accountabilities: To develop, lead and manage The Amber Trust, in particular:

 Strategy

About the role

This is an exciting senior role for an environmentally committed leader to cover maternity leave. We are looking for someone who can take strategic oversight of our Green Space for Health programme and provide effective management of the project and its staff.

Our Green Space for Health programme helps to realise the value of green space for physical and mental health, both at healthcare sites and in the wider community. Our flagship project, the NHS Forest, promotes tree planting and woodland creation at NHS sites, supporting and encouraging sites to plant and maintain trees through offering free trees and advice. We support NHS sites to develop their greenspace for the benefits of patients, health staff and communities, while improving biodiversity and combatting climate change. We do this by encouraging green space enhancements such as meadow areas, vegetable growing, orchards and therapeutic gardens, as well as supporting the delivery of nature-based interventions for health.

The Green Space for Health Director will oversee the development of the NHS Forest and other Green Space for Health projects, delivering the programme strategy. This will include managing the Green Space for Health team, overseeing the delivery of our funded projects including budget management, coordinating reports to funders and trustees, and taking a strategic lead on the development and funding of the Green Space for Health programme in consultation with other stakeholders. The Green Space for Health Director will deliver our programme strategy through fulfilling the following responsibilities:

• Provide line management for the Green Space for Health Team’s 5 staff members. This will include one-to-one meetings, appraisals and regular team meetings.
• Oversee the delivery of the Green Space for Health funded projects, including NHS Forest tree planting projects and our Nature Recovery Ranger programme.
• Raise income for, monitor and oversee the programme budget in consultation with CSH’s fundraising and finance team.

About the Role  

Under the direction of the Chief Executive, the Deputy Chief Executive (Operations and Services) will be responsible for the overall financial management, business reporting and operational services for the organisation. The person within this role will develop controls, policies and procedures that work for a variety of audiences including student volunteers, staff and trustees. They will lead on setting the strategic financial goals for the organisation and take a proactive role in supporting our performance towards these goals. The role will also support several departmental managers who deliver organisational services in the areas of finance, commercial and central services. Tutor The Nation (TTN) is looking for a new team member to lead their school partnerships and help grow our rapidly expanding charity. We are looking for someone who can manage our relationships with schools, overseeing the matching process of our pupils and volunteer tutors, as well as supporting other aspects of the day to day running of the charity.

About the Role

Our team currently consists of 8 dedicated staff members and is led by our CEO, Anne Bishop. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a new role for BAUS. It will be a key part of our Senior Leadership Team, playing a vital part in the development and implementation of our strategy and deputising for the Chief Executive.

The COO role provides the essential financial stability and operational facilities to enable future growth through leadership and management of finance, maintaining and developing our IT infrastructure, and ensuring effective governance and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities include:

· Supporting the CEO on the development of BAUS’s annual strategic planning and leading the accompanying operational plan

· Oversight of financial management and administration, with support from an outsourced bookkeeper and finance team

· Ensuring BAUS’s IT and digital infrastructure is well maintained, cyber compliant and fit for purpose

· Ensuring effective governance and regulatory compliance

About You

We are looking for:

· Experience of leading a finance function in a charity, as part of a leadership team

· Track record of delivering on a range of other corporate support/operational services such as IT and Governance in addition to financial responsibilities

· Relevant professional qualification desirable e.g. part qualified/fully qualified management account or chartered governance institute (CGI)

About you and the role

The purpose of this role is to head up development of key partnerships and income streams that will ensure the charity remains financially sustainable and able to deliver our impact at scale. You will be responsible for the assessment of, and managing relationships with, all major new partners. Key responsibilities:

● Developing a comprehensive income generation and marketing strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities

● Manage and maintain existing significant partnerships with key funders (trusts, corporates and major donors), identifying new opportunities to deepen and extend relationships where desirable

● Manage, support and mentor the Development team, leading on strategy and planning for the department to ensure that income generation targets for fundraising are achieved

● Lead on the development of our impact measurement strategy, strengthening our monitoring, evaluation and impact systems to ensure that we are effectively collecting data that demonstrates our impact

● Responsible for delivering internal and external reporting (including the annual report) that articulates our impact clearly and definitively

● Develop an effective marketing strategy to articulate our impact and the benefits of our programmes to potential new partners

● Working with the Director of Transformations to maintain a healthy sales pipeline of new school/ MAT partners, helping to identify and develop relationships

● Manage, motivate and develop your team, setting goals and evaluating performance, coaching and motivating staff and supporting professional development and staff wellbeing

● Play a key role in preparing for and ensuring the smooth and effective running of the Strategy & Impact trustee sub-committee

Skills & experience:

● Understanding of effective impact measurement and communication

● Experience writing reports / presentations / successful grant proposals

● Excellent written and oral communication skills

● Understanding of charity finance and ability to develop project budgets for funders
