We’re looking for a skilled, innovation-driven fundraiser to lead the Community Events & Engagement strategy within a high-performing team. Key duties include:

· Delivering a community fundraising & engagement strategy, inspiring action and giving from the Tommy’s community.

· Overseeing the delivery of 3 bi-annual children’s activity fundraising events – the Splashathon, Danceathon and Senseathon, with a focus on recruiting and onboarding new partnerships for the future.

· Leading on the development of new mass participation events and products, driving a culture of innovation within the Community Events and Engagement team.

We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

· Demonstrable experience of success in community fundraising income development, managing high-level partnerships and events at a six-figure level.

· Excellent track record of working with senior stakeholders to deliver successful fundraising events including partners, agencies and other third parties.

· Experience of developing and implementing successful new fundraising products and events, including mass participation events and ‘in memory’ events.

· Experience of establishing and leading community and events fundraising strategies.

· Experience of successfully leading a team.

The Role

If successful, the main duties of your role will be:

· To support the Events department in organising and delivering a range of internal, corporate, remembrance and VIP events. This includes Memorial Dedications and services, Arboretum managed events and thirds party events delivered at the Arboretum

· To support internal and external stakeholders to ensure correct events procedures are followed at all times

· To coordinate the booking and scheduling of events in the Arboretum’s diary and working closely with internal departments and the Events Manager to communicate event plans and ensure minimum impact on the operation of the Arboretum

· To work with the events team to produce event plans, event briefing notes, and regularly sending scheduling updates to other departments 

· To manage and carry out detailed evaluations on events and functions with recommendations using data for future planning

· To organise internal and external meetings when required, writing agendas, and taking minutes; plus circulating feedback forms

Please note that this role will be based onsite at the National Memorial Arboretum - Burton-on-Trent DE13 7AR. The post will be working a 35 hour week, on a 5 days out of 7 basis.

Home to over 350 memorials, including the nationally-important Armed Forces Memorial, it remembers the service and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve our country. Job Purpose: To support the CHS Alliance secretariat to ensure it delivers professional external events that meet the needs of our key audiences and advance our strategic goals, on time and within budget. Primary focus of this role will be the coordination and logistical management of the General Assembly in December 2024.

 

Background: The Events Coordinator role sits within the Network Engagement and Communications department and works closely with staff across the CHS Alliance, including those working on CHS outreach, HR/Governance and the Executive Director, on events organisation and delivery.

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

Event coordination

1. Coordinate the team and workplan to support smooth and timely delivery of key CHS Alliance events, with particular focus on the General Assembly (GA) taking place in Bangkok 5-6 December 2024.

2. Prepare and attend event working group meetings (e.g. set agenda, organise doodle polls, book conference rooms, take notes, etc.) 

3. Overseeing and updating the event workplan (e.g. gannt chart), flagging upcoming milestones and deadlines to event lead

 

Event logistics

4. Assist in identifying service providers by providing quotes and completing any other tasks requested by the line manager or event lead.

5. Procure supplies for event and ensure all material needed on site is prepared and up to date.

6. Follow up with the venues; liaise with the venue prior to, during and after the events.

7. Assist with all logistical aspects linked to catering, refreshments, room equipment (incl. audio visual), stationery, signs and identification (badges, etc.), and trip booking (hotels, flights, visa) where required, etc.

 

Communications & IT

8. Set up events on relevant platform (e.g. Zoom, CHS Alliance website)

9. Prepare and update registrations and participants’ lists

10.  Draft and send communication materials to participants, using software like Mailmerge or Mailchimp

11.  Assist with speaker outreach and briefings as appropriate.

12.  Manage the Alliance’s Zoom account as an administrator

13.  Monitor and report on project progress and related expenses according to the CHS Alliance financial policy and procedures.

14.  Manage and maintain an external events calendar for the CHS Alliance, to assist staff with horizon scanning and scheduling.

Experience of challenge events fundraising

Experience of coordinating fundraising events or campaigns

Experience of using a relationship database to support, inform and report on fundraising activity

We are looking for an Events Fundraising Officer for an incredible mental health charity to play a pivotal role in the Community and Events Fundraising teams strategic objectives.

This is a hybrid role with 2 days a week in the either the London or Cardiff office. There is a permanant role available and there may be a 12 month contract with the team also.

The Role
Project Management: Deliver fundraising activity and supporter journeys from beginning to end, from writing briefs, working with creative agencies/freelancers, to collating results.

Data Analysis: Use data and insight to inform your work, to evaluate your projects and inform future activity, producing high quality analysis reports for activities.

Budget Management: Manage timely payment of invoices, including raising/requesting POs accurately and tracking expenditure to ensure activities are within budget.

Relationship Management: Attend supporter led and third-party events to help enhance supporter experience and deepen relationships.

The Candidate
Volunteer Managment: Experience and a proven track record of managing volunteers to undertake a fundraising activity and exceed their targets.

Data and Insight: Ability to interpret and analyse data and use insight to improve performance and help inform future strategies.

Project Management: Excellent project management skills, including managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Communication skills: An ability to deal with people at all levels and in all walks of life, on the telephone, face-to-face and in written communication.
