Fundraising Assistant

Contract: Permanent, part-time (21 hours per week)

Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 pro rata (commensurate with experience)

Location: Battersea, London.

This is a part-time post, 21 hours per week to be worked on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Hybrid working available, with a requirement to be in the Battersea office 1 to 2 days per week.

BookTrust is the UK's largest children's reading charity. Working as a member of the Mass Engagement team, you will be part of the team tasked with growing individual giving income.  We are increasing the range of new donor audiences, expanding the range of fundraising channels and developing new fundraising products.

We are looking for an organised and motivated individual, who has excellent communication skills, an eye for detail and the ability to build relationships with people by email, on the telephone and in person.

You’ll be responsible for responding to fundraising enquiries across multiple channels including phone, email, and print, thanking supporters, collating campaign results and providing an exceptional experience to our supporters. You will ensure that all donor details are accurate and kept up to date on our CRM (Microsoft Dynamics).

Fundraising Public Relations Officer

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic PR and marketing professional in our London fundraising office to design and deliver creative, multi-channel, integrated fundraising and PR campaigns designed to significantly increase the Hospital’s voluntary income.

The success of this role will be dependent on engaging and building meaningful long-term relationships with both existing and new supporters through effective donor stewardship, attending events, and networking.  

The successful candidate will work in conjunction with a small, dedicated team to provide fundraising, comms, and event support to our community fundraising groups.  

High quality comms and media are going to be central to our plans to go public in a big way in 2024.  Creating high-quality, impactful, and engaging content for multimedia platforms will be key. You’ll be able to identify stories from across the organisation, draw out information and ideas from others, and successfully turn complicated or clinical information into clear, simple, and compelling narratives.  

The role requires a creative thinker with exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Main responsibilities:

Fundraising

· Develop and implement integrated fundraising, marketing and PR campaigns designed to significantly increase the Hospital’s voluntary income.

· Create and promote compelling and engaging content for web, social media, and email – ensuring that all comms have clear goals and outcomes.

· Manage the key relationships with the Guild fundraising Committee and the SOA fundraising committee including comms, marketing, and event support as well as helping to manage the key relationships with the Knights Templar sub-groups, and the County Priory Groups across the UK.  

· To put in place measures for evaluating the effectiveness of all fundraising, PR and marketing activity ensuring robust data collection, analysis procedures, and making suggestions for improvements where required.

· Manage the production of key organisational publications – including, the Jerusalem Scene magazine, Annual Report, Strategic Plan, Annual Leaflet, and other promotional materials.

· To work closely with the Executive Head of UK Office and project partners to deliver a new website, contributing expertise and ideas in regard to its look, feel and functionality.

· Take responsibility for the ongoing management and maintenance of the website, working with external consultants where required to resolve issues.  

· Understand and apply the principles of up-to-date SEO.

· Working with colleagues in Jerusalem to maintain a bank of compelling messages, narratives, and case studies for use across all external communications.

PR & Media

· To actively promote the charity’s fundraising endeavours including drafting all external and internal messaging to both new and existing supporters – e.g. email campaigns, newsletters, invitations, letters, speeches, presentations etc. for senior staff and volunteers.

· Managing press and media opportunities related to SJEHG’s fundraising activities.  

· Cultivate and maintain relationships with press and media, proactively pitching stories to secure media coverage, drafting press releases, media plans, articles, and other materials for SJEHG’s fundraising activities.

· To provide counsel and advice to senior leadership on external and internal messaging, as required.

Other

· To assist with the management of the marketing budget, monitoring expenses, ensuring cost effectiveness, seeking to maximise return on investment.

· To keep accurate records and help ensure effective data management processes across the organisation.

· Collaborate effectively with colleagues and a wide range of individuals and organisations.

· To uphold and enhance the charity’s brand identity through consistent messaging, and visual elements across all communication channels and materials.

· Promote innovation and best-practice in marketing communications, with a strong focus on the external environment and trends.

About the role

The hospice has ambitious growth plans for fundraising, to enable as many people as possible to access their crucial services. You’ll lead the Community Engagement team to successfully deliver across a diverse fundraising portfolio, including corporate partnerships, major donors and individual giving, trusts and foundations, legacies and community.

Taking the lead on developing and delivering an innovative fundraising strategy, your task will be to diversify income streams in a way that aligns with the hospice’s overall purpose, vision and values. You’ll also provide empowering and encouraging leadership that inspires the team to flourish.

This is a leadership role at heart, so you’ll need to be strategically-minded with a management style that brings out the best in people, and takes them on a journey with you.

We’re looking for someone with a significant fundraising track record in their own right. It’s a small but mighty fundraising team, so you’ll still get a kick from hands-on fundraising and engagement with supporters.

You’ll balance ambition and drive with the creativity and curiosity to try new things, and at the same time, honour the success and history of the hospice’s fundraising to date.

What you will do:

Support the Fundraising team to uphold a high level of supporter care with a view to retention and increased engagement.

Efficiently and accurately process and reconcile all incoming donation information, received daily, weekly and monthly from multiple digital sources, onto our database and acknowledge these within agreed timescales.

Analyse all online income including but not exclusively from Just Giving, Enthuse, PayPal Giving Fund and Facebook along with all other income.

Ensure that all third party received income is recorded on Raisers Edge and produce accurate reports for internal stakeholders.

Be the first point of contact for challenge event supporters and manage and respond to queries.

Record and update non-financial supporter information such as, communication preferences, research information and other personal information in line with our Data Protection policy.

Distribute all parcels in a timely manner, making sure everything is recorded accurately.

To be successful in this role you will have:

English and Maths GCSE or equivalent grade C or above

Previous experience providing dedicated administration support.

Experience of handling sensitive information appropriately

Experience of working effectively within a team environment and assisting colleagues

Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to write reports.

Ability to handle calls and enquiries from stakeholders including people who may be vulnerable and /or bereaved sensitively and appropriately.

The apprenticeship programme is due to start in September 2024, provided by the Juice Academy - an industry-led apprenticeship provider. They are partnered with Jane Montague Consultancy to deliver the 13-15 month Fundraiser Level 3 programme. Apprentices work on the job within a charity whilst receiving 20% off the job training from current industry experts. The training sessions are a hybrid of face-to-face learning (two optional in-person days) in Manchester, and virtual half-day classrooms via Zoom. Apprentices also receive the on-the-job training in the workplace. The final three months of the course will be the ‘assessment period’ during which apprentices go through an End Point Assessment and are graded a pass, merit or distinction. Apprentices currently have a 94% distinction rate. The Juice Academy are part of the Apprentify Group, and development coaches support apprentices throughout the programme.

The qualification will include:

• Level 3 Fundraiser

Salary: £23,114 per annum (SCP 4) progressing by increments to £23,893 per annum (SCP 6)

The role

As Events Fundraiser you will manage and develop myaware’s events portfolio and support in aid of fundraisers. You will also be responsible for managing fundraising volunteers and volunteer fundraising groups. The purpose of the role is to build long-lasting partnerships with supporters and volunteers to achieve maximum events fundraising income for myaware. Experience of working with and managing volunteers is essential.

Who are we?

Myaware is the only charity in the UK dedicated solely to the care and support of people affected by myasthenia. We are working hard to raise awareness of myasthenia, as it is a little-known condition. We provide support for people with myasthenia and their families, whilst offering advice and tips for living with the condition. 

We also fund the research that brings us closer to finding a cure as well as funding specialists nurses and advisors.
