Purpose of the job:

This key role in our fundraising team will be integral in helping the team meet our ambitious targets. Working predominantly on Trusts and Foundations applications, leading the development and submission of high-quality proposals, with opportunities to work across additional income streams. • Experience of successfully securing five figure grants from charitable trusts, foundations, and/or major donors.

• Excellent writing and presentation skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex information.

• Excellent attention to detail and methodical approach.

• Experience of developing and maintaining internal and external relationships.

The Bike Project is fortunate to be supported by a wide range of Trusts & Foundations, Major Donors and Corporates as well as many committed members of the public. In 2023, we took the decision to consolidate and bring in-house our fundraising activity. Over the past twelve months we have worked hard to ensure that we create a virtuous circle in our fundraising and engagement activity, for example, looking at how our corporate partners can engage their employees to support our work.

This is a new role which will lead on major donor fundraising and development of corporate partnerships and earned income through an in-house employee servicing and team away-day offer. As the charity moves forward, it is critical that we strengthen and diversify our unrestricted income streams and this is an exciting opportunity to shape a key are of fundraising that will contribute to that goal and the future sustainability of our charity.  

This role will work closely with the Chief Executive, Head of Marketing and Fundraising and Head of Grants and Impact on a shared approach to fundraising. We work in a joined-up way to ensure that we take full advantage of every opportunity to maximise benefit for our bike recipients. In particular, you will work closely with the Chief Executive to manage some of our most significant relationships, ensuring that our donors and partners are well looked-after, kept up to date on our activities and understand the impact of their support. 

Being a small charity, we work in an agile manner which allows for creative ideas to flourish and new ideas to be implemented quickly. We hold donation sessions weekly out of our London and Birmingham workshops, so there is opportunity to see the impact of your work first hand.

Your new role
The Deputy Head of FP&A has a key role to play in developing the Financial Planning and Analysis function, particularly in the direct line management of the Management Accounting and Analysis team to deliver core management accounting and reporting services, helping to support the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis to further embed Finance Business Partnering across the organisation and to bring a greater level of consistency, efficiency and quality to financial reporting and planning processes.
You will specifically act to support and oversee the work of the Management Accounting and Analysis team, including developing the capabilities of three newly created Finance Analyst posts through their work on financial analysis and monitoring of grant programmes and wider projects, understanding the business and providing meaningful financial insight and advice to support the delivery of strategic and operational objectives. The grants area requires some development in terms of processes and procedures.

• Experience of financial planning and analysis covering all aspects of budgeting, forecasting and management reporting for a complex organisation

Job Purpose and Key Responsibilities

The Head of Programme Management leads a large team to oversee all of CIUK’s active humanitarian and development projects funded by UK donors. The team leads CIUK’s relationships with Country Offices and Regions and develops close partnerships to help us achieve long-term and effective programming across the humanitarian and development arena. The team also builds strong relationships with institutional donors and works with the Business with CARE team to deliver corporate-funded programmes. The Head of Programme Management is responsible for ensuring strong grant management and donor compliance including programme financial management. The team ensures that CARE provides and is recognised by donors for offering excellent value for money and real impact for its programme participants. The team also leads CIUK’s approach to delivering smart development and humanitarian programmes with an increasing focus on equitable partnership approaches.

The role-holder also has a crucial role to play in identifying learning from our programmes, including from our new ways of working that promote greater local leadership, and sharing these across CARE and the sector.

About you

You will have excellent understanding of CIUK’s main donor, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), with deep knowledge of how the FCDO operates, how they are structured and contract programmes, as well as their current priorities. You will have the ability to build strong relationships and have demonstrated ability to negotiate complex contracts with donors and influence donor positions. You will have a strong programme management and risk management background that allows you to understand and work across multiple projects and contexts, and manage risk at the portfolio level, dealing effectively with new risks and issues as they emerge.

As a leader of a large team, you will have strong people leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate strategy into action, motivate colleagues and demonstrate to team members how their role links to organisational strategy and objectives.  You will need to have experience of working in donor-funded organisations, understand cost recovery models, and have experience working to deliver large-scale programming in development and/or humanitarian contexts.  A good understanding of the current debates in the sector on local leadership and a commitment to the principles set out in the pledge for change are essential.

About the role

The role covers five main areas of responsibility:

• Representation and relationship management: holding relationships with a set of senior stakeholders including FCDO Senior Responsible Owners, other donor counterparts, CARE Country Directors, Programme Directors and Regional Directors. Negotiating contract terms with donors and troubleshooting delivery issues with country offices. Position CARE’s work to external stakeholders, including personally representing CIUK in external fora.
• Organisational and team leadership, strategy and planning: Set and drive the programme management team’s annual plans and contribution to the organisation’s strategic priorities and annual plan. Be accountable to delivering on team KPIs and organisational KPIs that link to PMT’s work. Play a key role in the leadership of the Programme and Policy department.
• Line management: Directly line manage up to five direct reports. Provide and support strong recruitment, line management, learning and development. Demonstrate a strong personal commitment to CIUK’s equity, diversity and inclusion goals, promote organisational EDI initiatives within the team and work with the team to set team-related EDI objectives. ​
• Financial and compliance management: Provide close and effective management of multi-million pound budgets. Reforecast accurately throughout the year, identifying and working with country offices to rectify implementation issues. Manage risks and issues at portfolio level, raising high and critical risks for attention by senior leadership and board as necessary. Ensure donor compliance is followed.
• Programme quality, monitoring evaluation and learning : Ensure that CIUK closely monitors project implementation, relevance of programme outputs and outcomes and ensures programmes meet relevant technical standards and up to date best practice. Programmes fulfil requirements on programme quality and adhere to do no harm standards, the Core Humanitarian Standard, and ensure that CARE’s safeguarding standards are met throughout the life of the programme. Proactively share knowledge from CIUK’s programmes across the confederation and externally.

This is a permanent, remote working role with a salary of £29,757 per annum, pro rata. We welcome applications for 40 hours full time or 32 hours (0.8 full time equivalent) including breaks. Your responsibilities will include recording transactions, processing invoices, expense claims and grants, administering the charity’s bank accounts, payroll, and audits.

Finance Apprentice

Contract: 3 Years Fixed Term Apprenticeship Contract, Full time,

Hybrid Working: A minimum of 40% of working time is spent face to face, either in the London office, or as a result of an external engagement or travel for WaterAid. About the Team:
This position sits within the UK Finance team based in London. We manage the day to day finance transactions for the UK and support its budget holders to deliver their plans.
The Management Accounting team is responsible for providing robust reporting and analysis across the organisation, to ensure that WaterAid UK makes effective financial decisions and long-term plans aligned with the 10-year strategy.

About the Role:
We are offering a unique opportunity for motivated and analytical individual to join WaterAid as a Finance Apprentice, joining a cohort of other apprentices across WaterAid. Our rotational 3-year scheme will offer applicant training and development across various finance aspects across both management and financial accounting within the UK and Internationally. You will rotate between a role in the UK Management Accounting Team and International Financial Accounting Team. With mentoring and coaching from your line manager and WaterAid, you will pursue a chartered accountancy qualification (ACCA or CIMA) and begin a financial career in the Not-for-Profit sector.

This is a great opportunity for someone at the beginning of their career or looking for a career change. You will also have an opportunity to shadow other teams within WaterAid to complement your studies and interests.
The duration of the apprenticeship training is 36 months, however where a learner has exemptions, the duration of the course can be reduced accordingly. Approximately 80% of your time will be on-the-job training whilst 20% of your time will be spent working for your professional qualification.

You'll also:
The role will work with the WaterAid UK finance team, providing development opportunities through exposure to more senior stakeholders, participation in strategic project work and by gaining experience of WaterAid's work. In line with the learning and training programme, additional responsibilities include:

• Performing activities, as detailed in the scope and dimensions below, to the highest standard of accuracy and within agreed timescales to ensure the efficient and effective processing of finance information.
• Contributing to the development and improvement of processes and procedures, as tasks are undertaken and suggesting effective solutions to issues as they arise.
• Handling journal entries in the accounting system, developing your knowledge of basic double-entry accounting and different types of transactions.
• You will be expected to undertake and successfully progress through the chartered accountancy qualification (ACCA or CIMA) course and exams. 20% off the job study time will be allocated accordingly to enable the study element to take place
• With training, completing assurance reviews of the financial controls in Country Programmes, identifying key risks, and taking actions to support their resolution.
• Participating in grant audits including the US Government Grants audit, as well as ensuring any significant findings are addressed.
• Following up on internal audit findings to support Country Programme finance teams with their actions to address these.
• Assisting in the technical preparation of budgets and providing guidance to budget holders, facilitating efficient budget management and analysis.

About You:

• Degree level education. Please ensure your CV clearly lists your degree.
• Grade B or above in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent
• You must meet the prerequisites for ACCA and CIMA qualifications. If you are unsure about these requirements, please refer to the respective websites.
• Strong time management and general organisational skills, with the ability to work within tight deadlines whilst dealing with interruptions.
• Good verbal and written communication skills, confident speaking with senior colleagues

The Bike Project is looking for a new Fundraising Executive to join our team. This role supports all of our fundraising activity so will give the post holder exposure to all areas of fundraising from Major Doors to Corporate Partnerships, Events and Fundraising Appeals. Alongside this the role will manage the relationships and support given to our Community Fundraisers and our participants in London to Brighton and Ride 100 events.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about raising money to fund the work of The Bike Project.  You will need to have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks/projects.  The role holder will need to have experience working in customer service and be confident using digital platforms and apps to enhance working practices. Although desirable, fundraising experience is not essential as training will be provided.

Being a small charity, we work in an agile manner which allows for creative ideas to flourish and new ideas to be implemented quickly. We hold donation sessions weekly out of our London and Birmingham workshops, so there is opportunity to see the impact of your work first hand.

EDUCATION FOR ALL MOROCCO transforms the lives of marginalised girls, in the High Atlas mountains, enabling them to fulfil their potential, reducing social injustice and inequalities, improving the quality of life for women, and their communities.

Prior to the Al Haouz earthquake in September 2023 EFA funded six boarding houses, enabling young women to access senior school education. Five boarding houses were destroyed. Astonishingly, no girls or staff were in them at the time.

We are unashamedly ambitious to build on EFAs transformational work over the last two decades. Our Covid Recovery Strategy focussed on widening our impact, and the earthquake has just made us even more determined to deliver on our promise, because we have never been more relevant.

Due to the extraordinary generosity of donors, we have funding in place to support a major rebuilding programme. However we don't want to simply rebuild. Due to covid and the earthquake there is a lot of catching up to do.

As Head of Fundraising & Communications you will work with the trustees to deliver the strategic vision, by developing and implementing a  successful fundraising and communications strategy.  A new website is under construction and the successful applicant will play a leading role in determining its fundraising functionality, content, and messaging.

-Plan, execute, fundraising events and campaigns, attend conferences, develop compelling social media stories. 

-Undertake research, identify new funding opportunities, write donor proposals, complete donor grant applications.

-Liaise with Moroccan partners, co-ordinate marketing, and fundraising activities.

-Work with donors, developing a range of benefits, events, and engagement opportunities.

-Working with trustees, prepare a monthly update report.

-Manage administrative and compliance tasks including a budget, logging donor communications into the database etc. 

-Evaluate the impact and update policies and procedures.

About Bookmark

Bookmark began life just over five years ago with a clear mission; they want every child to read. Currently more than one in four children are leaving primary school unable to read well. These children are more likely to drop out of school, experience unemployment, poverty, and poor mental health. Poor literacy disproportionately impacts children from disadvantaged backgrounds, and Bookmark wants to make sure that all children have access to the reading resources and support they need so they can succeed in school and beyond.

Bookmark are a wonderful organisation with big impact. They partner with schools in disadvantaged communities to provide one-to-one support to their pupils, along with books, resources and grants that help teachers to develop vibrant whole school reading cultures. Last year alone they worked in over 150 schools, directly supported 2,000 children with their volunteer-led reading programme, and supplied over 50,000 brand new books to children so they can develop the reading skills and confidence they need for a fair chance in life.

About the role

As the Senior Philanthropy Lead at Bookmark, you will work with the Head of Fundraising to manage and grow our philanthropy portfolio within the wider strategy. You will lead a team of three to deliver on the fundraising strategy, line managing both the Philanthropy Manager and Senior Fundraising Executive. Your role will involve proactively researching and identifying new potential Bookmark major donors and working with trustees, staff, and the Partnerships Board to build a robust pipeline of supporters and secure introductions.

You will own and build a portfolio of new major donors through the full donor cycle who give £25,000 or more, ensuring a first-class cultivation and stewardship journey. You will create compelling, relevant, and tailored funding proposals, reports, and collateral to inspire and inform donors, reflecting Bookmark's strong brand. You will lead on the Philanthropy events strategy and program, providing support to the Philanthropy Manager and wider team in delivering income-generating, cultivation, and stewardship events.

In addition, you will work closely with the Corporate Partnerships team to ensure opportunities to maximize income for the fundraising team. You will devise and deliver annual plans, together with associated budgets, in line with the charity's strategic objectives. You will use Salesforce to manage the accurate recording and forecasting of major donor income, enabling efficient reporting and KPI management.

About you

To be successful in this role, you must have a successful track record in high-value fundraising and acquisition, including a proven track record of securing five or six-figure gifts to meet or exceed targets. You must have experience line managing individuals, nurturing their development, and managing their performance to achieve results. Ideally, you will have experience developing and managing a calendar of successful charity events that meet fundraising targets and managing or working with a fundraising board or high-value committee. You should have the skills to influence, motivate and persuade people to donate and experience writing successful, inspiring, emotive, and technically accurate cases for support and proposals tailored to a major donor audience.

You should be experienced in growing and managing a pipeline, planning for your portfolio, and increasing income.
