As an integral part of the London Irish Centre's Community services, the Advice Service collaborates with our Support Service, Legal Advocate (benefit appeals), Community Programmes (responsible for events and activities), and our specialized Survivor Integrated Service. Together, we strive to deliver community-led and best-practice support.
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and knowledgeable Advice Worker to join our committed team. The successful candidate will bring expertise in welfare rights and housing, and a strong commitment to supporting those facing financial hardship or insecure living conditions. In this role, you will work directly with clients to deliver accredited advice and practical guidance, helping them navigate complex systems and secure the support they need. You will also collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to ensure a holistic and integrated service that puts community needs first.
About You
- You have solid experience advising on welfare benefits and housing law, including issues like homelessness, entitlement, and disability benefits.
- You use a strength-based, person-centred approach to empower clients and achieve positive outcomes.
- You’re confident advocating for clients with agencies such as the DWP and local authorities, both in writing and verbally.
- You’re highly organised, able to manage competing demands, and proficient in using case management and information systems.

Key areas of responsibility
· Work in line with the purpose, vision, mission, and values of the LIC.
· Deliver high-quality information and advice on housing and welfare benefits according to client needs.
· Manage your own caseload and undertake casework with minimal supervision.
· Provide services in accordance with all relevant quality standards.
· Create and maintain comprehensive client and service provision records, using information technology and other systems.
· Support service delivery via telephone, drop-in, and pre-booked appointments, including staffing the response line as needed.
· Advocate on behalf of clients with third parties, including the Department for Work and Pensions and local authorities, by letter, telephone, email, and in-person.
· Contribute to multi-disciplinary service provision, build excellent working relationships, and establish referral pathways to achieve the best outcomes for clients.
· Maintain excellent knowledge of benefits, housing law, grants, as well as changes in law, practice, and supporting services.
· Work collaboratively with internal teams and services.
· Attend any outreach including social groups as required.
· Ensure safeguarding measures for vulnerable adults and children, as well as the health and safety of staff, volunteers, and clients, are followed in line with established processes.
· Comply with LIC policies and procedures, including those relating to confidentiality, data protection, equality, and diversity.
· Participate in meetings and commit to personal learning and professional development.
· Carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by management.

The Independent Living Medication Support Service (ILMSS) in Lambeth is a community-based floating support service designed for adults with primary mental health needs and often dual diagnoses.
The service aims to help individuals stay well, avoid hospitalisation, and live independently in the community. The service provides one-to-one support in customer's homes to build awareness, routines, and skills for medication management. Furthermore, it aims to support customers with housing, benefits, and social issues through short-term interventions.
As Service Manager for the Lambeth ILMS service, you will lead a dynamic team delivering floating support to 105 customers and medication support to 35 customers across the borough. Leadership and competence development in direct reports is a key responsibility of the role. Post-holders may also carry client group specialism responsibilities, linking in with other Managers and Head of Services to ensure focused integration of specialisms across the whole organisation.
The working pattern for this role is primarily Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, with occasional requirements for weekend and out-of-hours work to meet service needs.

Approved Premises (APs) work with high-risk people released from prison, providing a vital element in public protection arrangements. APs offer a level of contact, support and supervision within the community that is unique within the Criminal Justice System. As an Out-of-Hours Intervention Worker at He
stia, you will play a crucial role in our Streatham Approved Premises. Your contributions will directly influence the lives of our service users, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.
A day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to do/be responsible for are:
Providing admin and other support to colleagues, particularly in relation to compiling documents relating to residents medication, curfews and sign-in registers. Completing welfare checks on residents in the Approved Premises. Ensuring timely and accurate recording of information on electronic databases, and completing tasks to a high standard. Following protocols, encouraging compliance with curfews/drug & alcohol testing, and liaising with partners including on-call manager, probation and police. Ensuring that colleagues, multi-agency partners and management are informed and updated on matters as is necessary for risk management and safeguarding duties. Actively monitoring and maintaining the health, safety, security, cleanliness and hygiene of the Approved Premises and the well-being of its occupants utilising information sharing, CCTV, direct observation, inspection, personal contact and other methods, as appropriate. Ensuring that all related administration is done in good time; that detailed, concise and accurate records are created contemporaneously, that information is shared appropriately, and that confidentiality is properly maintained. Hope Place is a mental health rehabilitation support living service with 24 hour support. Hope Place currently has 10 residents, ranging from 18-65 years old.

Waking Night Support Worker role. 10 hours
This role will suit a support worker to working throughout the night. You will report to the team leader and engage/support customers during anti-social hours needing support.
This is a great opportunity for a Waking Night Support Worker, wanting to gain exceptional experience within the mental health field, based on the solid working relationship with (SCMHT) We have since implemented training directly from SCMHT to support staff with understanding Mental Health diagnosis and Managing Crisis with our customers in-house.
What you'll do:
- Undertake key-working responsibilities for a caseload assigned by the Team Leader/ Manager.
- Undertake initial and continuous assessment of needs and potential risks and agree levels of support and actions.
- Create support/action plans for providing appropriate services based on the assessment and reflecting the services and resources available.
- Support customers to undertake all domestic tasks wherever possible, including practical assistance where they have not yet developed the skills, to ensure customers enjoy a high quality of accommodation.
- Develop and maintain links with all key agencies and service providers in the local community.

We are looking for a skilled trust fundraising leader to take on the key role of Senior Trusts and Grants Manager, supporting our mission to help people rebuild their lives and end homelessness for good.
As Senior Trusts and Grants Manager, you’ll lead a thriving team of four, manage strategic funding relationships, and ensure ambitious income targets are achieved. You’ll also maintain your own portfolio of high-value funders, representing St Mungo’s with confidence and credibility.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of high-value trusts and foundations to secure essential funding for our work.
- Lead, support, and inspire the Trusts and Grants team, maintaining a collaborative and positive team culture,where everyone can achieve their income and relationship management targets.
- Oversee the overall trusts programme, including pipeline development, proposal quality, income tracking, due diligence, and relationships.
- Act as the organisational lead on trust fundraising, enabling senior colleagues to build strong relationships with key funders.
In this role you will be required to work flexibly for at least 2 days per week from our Central Office in Tower Hill, London. This allows for training, in person collaboration, team building, line management and other relationship building opportunities. As an Advocacy and Support Officer, you will provide one-to-one support to people facing immediate crises or longer-term challenges. You’ll work closely with individuals—often in their own homes or community settings—to help them navigate complex systems and build more stable, independent lives.
In the main people we support are Irish or of Irish descent including the Traveller Community, particularly those who find it difficult to access mainstream services. However, our services are open to all.
You will be delivering advocacy and representative services in order for people to secure welfare benefits, better housing conditions, enabling people to access the financial benefits they are entitled to. Key Responsibilities

Tabard Court is a mental health supported accommodation for individual with significant offending histories. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team, providing support to customers with a range of mental health needs - emotional, social, physical or domestic -, who have had contact with the Criminal Justice System.
