Improving Care Manager - South West Jobs in Taunton, Somerset
You’ll play a pivotal role in driving forward the charity’s service improvement priorities to improve health and care services for people with Parkinson’s.
Using your quality improvement expertise to support health & care professionals with projects and programmes, equipping them with the latest tools, resources, evidence and data to develop and improve services for people with Parkinson’s.
You’ll support the development of a vibrant regional network, working in collaboration with the Professional Engagement team and the regional clinical leads. You’ll also work with health and care professionals and Parkinson’s UK colleagues to respond to any threats to Parkinson's services and effect positive change.
This position is part time, working 28 hours per week and will cover the South West of England region.

What you’ll do:
- Facilitate health and care service redesign and improvement projects in collaboration with clinicians, Parkinson’s UK staff and people living with Parkinson’s and drawing on the principles of co-production
- Build relationships to influence service improvement across a designated NHS Region and support the development of a vibrant regional network
- Monitor and support pump primed posts
- Respond to threats to services in collaboration with the area teams, people with Parkinson’s and health and care professionals
What you’ll bring:
- Experience and expertise in service redesign and effecting change within health and/or social care in England and knowledge of health and care structures and commissioning across England
- Experience in the use of quality improvement and project management tools
- Ability to work collaboratively with people with Parkinson's, their care partners and health and social care professionals. Experience of co-production is desirable
- Ability to analyse data and evidence to support service improvement and the development of business cases
This role is home based with the requirement to travel around your assigned geography and attendance of team meetings in our London office. There may also be the requirement for occasional overnight stay.

About the role
You’ll provide high quality admin support to the South West team, coordinate, plan and prep key meetings, and provide first point contact for both internal and external stakeholders. Including working co-productively with people living with Parkinson’s.
As members of the Community Directorate we aim to reach out to and support people with Parkinson’s, their families, friends and carers. We enable the voice of people affected by Parkinson’s to be heard to improve services, inform our priorities and improve decision making locally.
Through community development we work in close collaboration with our respective Parkinson’s communities to bring change on the issues that matter most to people affected by Parkinson’s.
What you’ll do:
- Organise online and in-person, internal and external meetings and other events, including booking venues and refreshments, assisting with the production of materials, liaising with participants and speakers, fulfilling mailings and taking bookings as required.
- Keep up to date with the directorate’s activities in order to provide clear, accurate information, and support the process of business performance and impact reporting.
- Respond to general enquiries in a timely and friendly fashion, ensuring needs are met, and participate in working groups, meetings, local events or activities as required.
- Maintain digital records on the charity’s data platforms.
What you’ll bring:
- Excellent administration skills, including note-taking, presentation preparation and a positive, assertive and resilient approach to prioritising and juggling varying pressures and conflicting priorities.
- Experience in coordinating multiple projects simultaneously that meet the business requirements.
- Experience of developing and maintaining effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Experience of operating in a modern digital workplace, including using digital tools to work collaboratively and productively.
- Ability to work flexibly and from home with some travel and the occasional overnight stay.

Summary
Diabetes UK has witnessed a significant change in how we engage with people living with and at risk of diabetes. We are expanding our team to more effectively reach out to, engage and support more people to live well with all types of diabetes using our online platforms, and ultimately to achieve our vision of a world where diabetes can do no harm.
As Digital Engagement Officer, you will work closely with the Communications Manager, and the wider team, to support the development and delivery of an effective local digital engagement plan, building meaningful engagement journeys and fostering long term relationships with the diabetes community. Through agreed targeted plans, you will help to increase our reach, profile, reputation and influence, using online platforms to engage with people affected by diabetes and the wider public. You will promote the work of Diabetes UK, raise awareness of diabetes among the public and providers of healthcare service/system, support people living with diabetes and influence improvements in services for people with diabetes.

Main Responsibilities
As Digital Engagement Officer you will use your considerable experience to contribute to the development and delivery of a strategic local digital engagement plan to support team and organisational objectives. You will develop and deliver proactive communications to raise the profile of Diabetes UK in a geographically defined area using various social media channels. You will work collaboratively with other Regional, National and wider organisation colleagues to share best practice and agree effective ways to digitally communicate and mobilise stakeholders from all communities, incorporating key messages across the UK. You will build and maintain digital engagement with existing and new stakeholders, to inform and strengthen Diabetes UK's social media and online activity and overall profile.
Ideal Candidate
As Digital Engagement Officer you will have a strong track record in digital engagement. You should be able to demonstrate understanding of the reputational, legal, GDPR, consent and safeguarding risks involved with media relations and social media and be able to mitigate against these. You should have experience of motivating and supporting others to deliver digital and social media communications and be familiar with online content management systems. Knowledge and experience of carrying out communications projects and plans across a variety of digital platforms, including websites and social media, is essential along with the ability to maintain, review and improve online information and resources.
This is role is based within the south west and south central region, allows for hybrid working and is connected to the regional office in Taunton, Somerset. The person must therefore be based within this region.
