What the job involves
This is a unique chance to play a pivotal role in driving impactful external communication strategies that support High Value, Philanthropy and Partnerships teams. As a key player in the Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Brand team, you’ll enable the integration of high value fundraising activities into wider organisational communications, inspiring action to fund life-saving initiatives that help men navigate prostate cancer.
Supporting the Head of Strategic Communications, Campaigns and Brand and our senior Business Partner in embedding and developing our business partnering model. A major part of the role will be enabling the integration of High Value Fundraising activity into the wider communications plan to enhance results from our communications.
You’ll work closely with our Philanthropy, Corporate Partnerships and Appeal teams to help plan and deliver inspiring communications that support our fundraising strategy. From pitching proposals and event promotion to major appeal campaigns, you’ll help build strong relationships with major donors and partners. You’ll also make sure high value fundraising activity is joined up with our wider communications and campaigns to grow fundraising revenue, support our community and improve outcomes for all men affected by and at risk of prostate cancer.
Please note this role is known internally as Communications Business Partner (High Value Fundraising).
What we want from you
You’ll have proven expertise in communications business partnering, with experience in philanthropy, major appeals, high value or partnership fundraising. Working within our Strategic Communication team, you’ll have a strong understanding of campaign planning tools like OASIS and a solid grasp of PR, social media, and integrated marketing strategies. You’ll have exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to simplify complex information for diverse but tailored audiences.
A natural collaborator, you’ll be skilled at building trust and acting as a strategic advisor to senior leaders, product owners and cross-functional teams. In this role, you will build and manage a portfolio of mid-to-high net worth UK donors (typically giving between £1,000 and £10,000), cultivating deep relationships and delivering income growth. Thanks to internal promotions, we are recruiting for two new officers to join our Philanthropy & Partnerships team. You'll be joining an experienced team, with an established group of mid -level and major donors, at the start of our new five-year strategy.
We’re looking for a strategic and motivated fundraiser to join our team as Philanthropy Officer, helping to grow income across trusts and foundations, major donors, and mid-level giving.
In this rewarding and varied role, you’ll use your excellent communication skills to create compelling proposals, develop engaging supporter journeys that bring donors closer to the cause and build meaningful supporter relationships that help bring moments of joy, comfort and hope to people across our ten hospitals.
You’ll be part of our friendly and ambitious Philanthropy & Partnerships team and will work closely with colleagues in corporate partnerships, with the opportunity to develop your understanding and skills across our high value giving streams. Whether you are organising a hospital tour, writing an appeal, or working with our grants team and University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust colleagues to develop a new project proposal, you’ll play a key role in identifying and developing opportunities that match our donors' passions with the hospital’s priorities.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in fundraising, communications or relationship management, and strong writing skills. Are you a strategic relationship-builder with a passion for purpose-driven work? As our Senior Fundraising Manager, you’ll play a pivotal leadership role within the Partnerships team, driving sustainable growth in philanthropic income through meaningful engagement with high-value donors.
You’ll lead the cultivation and stewardship of a dynamic portfolio of major supporters – including high-net-worth individuals, senior corporate leaders, and influential trusts and foundations – while unlocking new opportunities through MFL’s powerful networks.
What You’ll Do:
- Strategically grow major donor income by developing and delivering robust fundraising plans.
- Build and nurture long-term relationships with major donors, aligning their passions with our mission.

- Collaborate on financial planning, supporting income forecasting, budgeting, and pipeline reporting alongside the Senior Head of Partnerships and finance team.
