The On The Water Project Assistant role:

The On The Water Project Assistant will support the delivery of the On The Water project at one of our boating stations in Birmingham. The project provides young people from outside Sea Cadets, age 9-14, the opportunity to get on the water, learn new skills and build confidence through boating activity. This is a very varied and rewarding role that requires someone who is self-motivated, inspiring, organized, creative, tenacious, positive, IT competent and with a real interest in people with a attention to detail and real enthusiasm for the project.

Responsibilities as our On The Water Project Assistant will include:.

• The welcoming and registration of participants for the On The Water project
• Collecting and uploading daily statistics and figures that show how the project is progressing
• Making new and repeat bookings
• Talking to participants and their parents/carers about the opportunities within Sea Cadets
• Managing a waiting list and reducing drop-outs
• Responsible for the safety and wellbeing of participants alongside the Boat Station staff
• Ensuring that participants complete surveys to share their experience of the project and encourage adults to feedback on their young people’s experience
• Attending any meetings as required by the project
• Assisting with the evaluation of the On The Water project

Requirements needed to become our On The Water Project Assistant:

• Previous experience of working with volunteers
• Experience in a customer facing role
• Experience working with young people
• Experience working with diverse community groups or working in outreach
• Experience of tracking targets and managing data

The Volunteer Support Officer role:

As our Volunteer Support Officer, you will be acting as the first point of contact via email and phone for our volunteers providing warm and friendly assistance. This role provides vital support to volunteers within our enrolment process as well as administrative tasks that aid and celebrate our volunteers.

Our successful candidate will be organised, a strong team player and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities as our Volunteer Support Officer will include:.

• Supporting the adult volunteer applications to join the Sea Cadets, ensuring that personnel records are updated accordingly on our database
• Administer the disclosure process as a MSSC counter signatory
• Reviewing and approving applications for the Cadet Forces Medal
• Responding to all volunteer enquiries received by MSSC by email, post and phone
• Administering personnel forms associated with volunteer progression

Requirements needed to become our Volunteer Support Officer:

• Computer literacy: strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, email, internet and experience of web based information systems
• Experience of working in a customer focused role, including handling a wide range of enquiries by phone and email, and handling challenging phone calls and emails
• Experience of using data protection procedures

Desirable

• Experience of database inputting and records maintenance and management
• Experience of setting up and using Mail Merge to issue emails or letters

The Chief Instructor role:

As the Chief Instructor you will be a driving force for the quality delivery of training at the centre. You will be instrumental in facilitating and delivering life changing, positive experiences for our young people. We are looking for a passionate practitioner, who thrives in a varied environment and are looking for a sense of fulfilment from working with young people and supporting our 4500 volunteers to deliver the Sea Cadet Experience.

We operate 11 training venues across the UK, this includes eight boat stations and three training centres for our 15,000 young people. We are looking for someone who will deliver and support high quality land based, face to face and virtual training to both our cadets and volunteers, creating a highly impactful national training experience for our cadets guided by the customs and traditions of the Royal Navy. You will lead volunteers and sessional instructors to ensure high quality delivery and manage the day to day training, whilst ensuring the health, safety and safeguarding of all whom you are training. You will work closely with the Centre Manager to support the day to day operations. 

Responsibilities as our Chief Instructor will include:.

• Organising and delivering high quality face to face and virtual training for cadets (and volunteers)
• Supervising delivery of courses by others and ensuring that we adhere to National Governing Body standards and any other existing regulations are adhered to.
• Assisting the Centre Manager to ensure that all activities at the facility are conducted in a safe manner, and that all sessional instructors or volunteers are appropriately briefed, qualified and trained.
• Deputising for the Centre Manager in their absence.

Requirements needed to become our Chief Instructor:

• Experience working with groups of young people.
• Experience of delivery high quality youth and adult training. 
• Understanding and awareness of youth safeguarding and supporting young people’s wellbeing.
• The ability to plan, organise and supervise delivery of training.

Responsibilities:

· Prospect research

o Develop a high degree of awareness of PML’s work, achievements and funding needs

o Research prospective funders via funding directories, online research, and networking

o Liaise with funders to obtain information about funding opportunities

o Alert colleagues to relevant funding opportunities

· Proposal development

o Carry out desk research to gather information in support of funding proposals

o Organise and facilitate project planning meetings with colleagues and partners

o Write and edit compelling funding proposals

o Support the preparation of project budgets

About You (Essential):

• Fundraising experience with a proven track record of grant success.

Coastal Restoration Officer 

Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum  

Location: Home based, with office space available in Newark (Tues - Thurs). Some UK travel will be required.

About You

Our client are the largest non-governmental organisation working on marine and coastal issues in the UK, and are looking for a supportive, enthusiastic and knowledgeable colleague to join their ambitious marine team. They work on everything from terrestrial to marine restoration to bring about nature’s recovery, for the benefit of all. Despite Blue Planet and more recently the Wild Isles series, they still have a job to do, to raise the profile of the sea and all that lives within it. 

They know that their coastline is under increasing pressure, and they need to do more to restore and conserve it for future generations – are you the person to help them do that? The coast is changing as sea-levels rise. Without planning, coastal change can be catastrophic for people and sometimes for wildlife. Planning and designing realignment in front of future sea-level rise makes sense, but opportunities are limited. This post will help The Trusts identify those opportunities and coordinate funding and licensing to ensure that realignment works both for those communities affected and helps to restore their wonderful coastal wildlife. 

You will have a detailed understanding of coastal processes, including relevant nature conservation issues. You will need to enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, be organised and resourceful and have meticulous attention for written detail as well as a passion for their cause. You will need to have excellent communication and facilitation skills, be adept at working with lots of information while able to bring out the best in the way they emphasise the work of The Trusts to all.
