Head of Fundraising & Communications

EDUCATION FOR ALL MOROCCO transforms the lives of marginalised girls, in the High Atlas mountains, enabling them to fulfil their potential, reducing social injustice and inequalities, improving the quality of life for women, and their communities.

Prior to the Al Haouz earthquake in September 2023 EFA funded six boarding houses, enabling young women to access senior school education. Five boarding houses were destroyed. Astonishingly, no girls or staff were in them at the time.

We are unashamedly ambitious to build on EFAs transformational work over the last two decades. Our Covid Recovery Strategy focussed on widening our impact, and the earthquake has just made us even more determined to deliver on our promise, because we have never been more relevant.

Due to the extraordinary generosity of donors, we have funding in place to support a major rebuilding programme. However we don't want to simply rebuild. Due to covid and the earthquake there is a lot of catching up to do.

As Head of Fundraising & Communications you will work with the trustees to deliver the strategic vision, by developing and implementing a  successful fundraising and communications strategy.  A new website is under construction and the successful applicant will play a leading role in determining its fundraising functionality, content, and messaging.

-     A confident understanding of relevant compliance legislation, and financial and budgetary management experience. 

In a typical month you’ll:

-Plan, execute, fundraising events and campaigns, attend conferences, develop compelling social media stories. 

-Undertake research, identify new funding opportunities, write donor proposals, complete donor grant applications.

-Liaise with Moroccan partners, co-ordinate marketing, and fundraising activities.

-Work with donors, developing a range of benefits, events, and engagement opportunities.

-Working with trustees, prepare a monthly update report.

-Manage administrative and compliance tasks including a budget, logging donor communications into the database etc. 

-Evaluate the impact and update policies and procedures.

Position: Head of Fundraising & Communications

Responsible: to Deputy Chair Finance Committee

Location:  remote, withoccasional meetings in London. An annual strategy weekend in Marrakech in November. 

Hours: 35 hrs per week (compressed).

Salary: £40,000 £42,000 per annum.

The Programmes Support Officer post will deliver on a range of database tasks and processes using our grant management and project monitoring database. The Role  

This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with up to 3 years of experience in administration which includes administering and monitoring databases. The post will provide the Team with accurate, timely and comprehensive data, reports and minutes to support and enable effective grant making and decision making. The post plays a crucial role in supporting the whole Team in the UK and in Africa with the potential for visiting Egmont Partners and projects in southern & eastern Africa. 

The successful candidate will be highly IT competent, possess good written communication skills and have a positive attitude and strong desire to help meet the objectives of this small but very effective international development charity. A keen eye to detail, a methodical and analytical mind are critical requirements of the role. The ideal candidate will be young self-motivated, capable of working as part of a team and under their own initiative. Strong IT knowledge and experience in MS Office and data administration are essential requirements of the role. 

Flexibility will also be a key attribute. They will be part of a small team who have overlapping responsibilities and support each other in the delivery of Egmont’s strategy. About the team

We have been successfully running the first ever national Peer Support Service for kinship carers in England for over two years since January 2022. We have created 145 peer support groups and supported and trained kinship carers to create and lead their groups in a way which meets their needs.

With a new contract from the Department for Education, we’re now entering a new phase of our service with a focus on:

• creating 90 new sustainable peer support groups in areas of most need over 21 months;
• sustaining and developing the current 145 existing groups, and;
• providing support and help to build a sustainable and welcoming community for all peer support groups across England. 

About the role

The type of person we’re looking for:

This is a new a role and a new structure for the team. You will need to be a strong, boundaried manager and leader. You will understand the power of building relationship-focussed peer support groups and the importance of in person local community engagement and outreach.

The team you lead will focus on community outreach and relationship building to develop new groups and new support group leaders through to independence. By independence, we mean that the groups will function successfully without a staff member present.

We want groups to feel a sense of community and belonging through all support and services we offer at Kinship, so your team will be the local contact.  They are expected to be out and about in communities.

Your team will need to build resilience through in person outreach, support, training and connection to ensure groups are able to function independently before moving to new ‘hub’ team who will provide centralised support and community building.

Your team will also reach out to existing groups (providing a face of the service and a relationship with it), ensuring they have the resources they need and support to sustain their group and then transition to the ‘hub’ team. This will include in person visits.

Purpose of the role:

The role of Programme Lead is to oversee and take accountability for the development and creation of new sustainable kinship peer support groups across England in priority areas as part of a new hub and spoke delivery model. In this context, your team is the ‘spoke’ of the service, delivering local outreach, online groups (where appropriate) and relationship building with kinship carers.

Managing a national team of seven staff (two direct line reports), you will provide firm leadership, ensuring targets and funder SLAs are met consistently and the service is delivered to a high quality.  You will provide monthly reports, ensuring delivery is on track and most importantly that kinship carers have an excellent and positive experience.

Key responsibilities include:

•  

• Deliver sustainable peer support groups for kinship carers.

• Ensure policies and systems to deliver new groups and move others to sustainability, are followed and updated with user needs at the heart.

• Champion and innovate the peer support service blueprint. 

• Oversee day-to-day operations for service delivery and meet KPIs and SLAs.

• Line manage and supervise two Senior Peer Support Officers.

• As a deputy safeguarding lead at Kinship, you will work closely with other colleagues to identify areas of training for the organisation and identify improvements in delivery or processes.

Essential requirements include:

• Substantial experience in delivering a high-profile national service or programme. This includes overseeing delivery, operational planning, monitoring, budgeting, managing delivery and meeting KPIs.

• Significant experience of leading the development and delivery of peer support and community development services.

• Significant experience of managing volunteer recruitment and retention.

• Significant experience of change management and driving high performance.

The role

They have experience dealing with administrative processes and office administration, especially in a non-profit, remote organisation. They will have skills to give, receive and work with feedback constructively. They must be meticulous with exceptionally strong follow-up and follow-through skills and have the ability to work under high-pressure situations and meet tight deadlines. They should have excellent interpersonal understanding, relationship building, and interpersonal skills to build strong alliances with diverse constituencies with experience working with diverse communities from multiple identities across the globe, in a virtual environment.

You will be responsible for cultivating a portfolio of prospects and donors through a range of engagement, to gain their financial support for programmes, projects and the wider RSPB. What's the role about?

As a team player with a positive and diligent approach, you will:

• Look after your own portfolio of donors as well as reaching out to prospects and new donors. You will be responsible for fundraising information to advance plans and ensure prospect and donor records are accurate, incorporating any changes, new activities, updated plans, and new information as well as adding new relationships in keeping with data protection and team procedures.
• Work closely with your team and wider organisation colleagues to implement solicitation strategies, to secure financial support either by direct solicitation, preparing a written proposal, or working with senior management to make a solicitation.
• Be involved in the development of funding proposals for approved priority projects that will inspire potential donors to secure gifts.
• Contribute to the planning of and participate actively in events (face to face and online) to build relationships with donors and prospects for future income and to demonstrate the impact of gifts already received.
• Arrange meetings with individual donors at a variety of venues, including at our reserves, working closely with area and reserve colleagues to deliver an excellent experience for our supporters
• Be jointly responsible for the planning, writing, production and mailing of Philanthropy Matters, our publication aimed at philanthropic supporters.
• Build effective relationships both within the RSPB and external to it that will enhance its reputation and ultimately secure funding. This includes understanding donors’ wishes and aspirations and identifying links with approved priority projects with the aim of securing substantial gifts.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Intermediate levels of fundraising as demonstrated by work successes and recognised fundraising courses
• Experience in how to research and cultivate a prospect. And understanding of how to write a cultivation strategy
• Ability to write funding proposals and prepare briefing documents in advance of meetings and events
• Competent in the use of a CRM system (Salesforce), the Microsoft suite, other databases, research tools and methods
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members, and people and teams outside of our department
• Good judgement when working with donors and ability to recognise potentially sensitive areas between prospects and the RSPB to ensure reputational values are maintained
• Experience of having successfully managed and developed donor relationships leading to substantial support.

This is an exciting, remote working opportunity, to work with stroke survivors and their families to support them following a stroke.

We’re looking for an innovative, passionate, and professional individual with excellent communication and organisational skills to join our Stroke Recovery Service based in Wirral on a fixed-term basis.

As a Community Fundraising Volunteering Officer, you will be responsible for the coordination and delivery of new and existing fundraising volunteering programmes, with a view to increasing levels of participation and enhancing volunteer’s experiences through sector-leading volunteer stewardship. The coordinator will  support volunteers to access opportunities and develop skills through a programme of activities and learning and development, ensuring that this results in effective delivery against restricted income targets and gift in kind wish delivery in the community.

The Community Fundraising Volunteering Officer will support the long-term planning of the volunteer fundraising programme, enabling us to achieve a scalable fundraising volunteer model that can be replicated across the UK to help us to reach every child.

This role can be based anywhere in the UK but as a Community Fundraiser Volunteer Officer you will need to be comfortable travelling to Make-A Wish Reading hub occasionally. Due to the nature of this role, there will occasionally be the requirement  for you to travel around your local area and the UK

Travelling to the Make-A-Wish Hub in Reading to fulfil your role duties is not reimbursed, but when you  travel to the hub on organisational occasions specified in expensed meetings calendar, you will be reimbursed through payroll.

This is an exciting role, which will support the development, and maintenance of a new Knowledge Centre and content for our training and learning activities.

You will be creating a wide range of informative resources, that appeal to different learning styles and objectives such as ‘tool kits,’ templates, video, audio, blogs etc as alternative ways of learning to support the work of the Home-Start network. Working with Subject Matter Experts and colleagues across the organisation, the Coordinator will be a point of contact for content creation, learning enquiries, administration, and communications.

The role will involve:

· Development and delivery of an impact and evaluation framework for BITC’s Place projects

· Development and delivery of a theory of change for BITC’s Place approach

· Support prospectus development as we reach our ambition of driving impact in 50 places by 2032

· Inform and oversee impact measurement, evaluation and communication across BITC

Experience Required

The successful candidate will have experience of impact strategy development and implementation, be proficient with a range of quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques and have experience of developing and leading the impact and evaluation approaches and models for key projects.
