The Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST) is seeking a new Chief Executive to lead the organisation through the next phase of its growth and development. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a highly experienced and energetic senior player to lead a small executive team, along with many highly dedicated and capable Institute members, as we embark on a number of key development projects which will continue to grow our charitable activities and influence in the food sector. The role is a key point of contact and ambassador for the Institute with many senior and influential stakeholders within the food sector and governments.

We are looking for a strong strategic and conceptual thinker, experienced in business and financial management, who can communicate with and influence people at all levels. The role leads a small team and will have significant hands-on involvement in day to day operational matters.

The individual will have attained a BSc or equivalent level, and have demonstrable experience in leadership and people management. They will have a broad understanding of the food (or associated) sector (and preferably experience working in the sector). Ideally, the individual will already have experience managing or running a charity, and so will have a practical understanding of charity governance best practice. 

With multiple activities from publishing through to professional recognition and from scientific and technical events and communication through to supporting the next generation of talent, the Institute is looking for a leader who can work creatively and yet in a focussed way to ensure all these activities are progressed.

Ideally, they will have previously worked for a professional membership body and are likely to have experience in the food sector.

About the role:

• Full-time, permanent. London-based (Hammersmith) with flexible working – the individual will be required to attend regular physical meetings, often in London, but with some other meetings in the UK. This role may also include some international travel. Salary: On application. No agencies.

The purpose of the Senior Direct Marketing Officer’s role is to deliver and evolve the acquisition and retention strategy, inspiring the people of London to become long-term supporters of the Charity.

About the role

This is an exciting time to join our organisation. We have a new strategy and are growing quickly including across our senior leadership team. • To be a super user and actively promote the use of the HRIS system (Bright HR) and ensure that electronic staffing records are updated and maintained accurately in accordance with GDPR
• Dealing with cyclical and ad-hoc data reporting and requests for information including data analysis
• Contribute to effective payroll administration ensuing information is shared with the Finance Officer in a timely manner, and collaborating with the People Director to address and rectify any issues and process improvements

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. It is specifically expected that the role will allow for flexible scheduling to accommodate other responsibilities, including caring.

The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. Job Role:

​We need an exceptional People Team Advisor. This is a key post in supporting the management and staff of the FEC. The Forces Employment Charity to be effective in their roles and provide the very best quality of provision to our external delivery. The successful candidate will have responsibility and accountability for the full employee support life cycle and will be involved in all areas of the Human Resources function under the direction of Head of People. The post holder will be expected to work as part of the HR team in the provision of a comprehensive HR service. The post holder will be required to work closely with all employees at all levels

This is a full-time, 35 hours per week, hybrid contract reporting to Head of People. The successful candidate will be required to travel to the London office 2 days per week – immediate start date but will wait for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities: 

​

• Ensuring the provision of a high-quality People (HR) service to all stakeholders in all employee life cycle in generalist capacity including resource, employee relations, learning & development, and reward, in accordance with the consistent application of charity policies and procedures and compliance with employment law and best practice.
• Produce employment contracts and variation to contracts in line with authorised management requests.

• Manage and Support onboarding processes with People Administrator.

• Work closely with the People and Payroll Department to ensure workforce information is kept up to date, employment changes are notified, and any problems identified and addressed.

• Issue timely and accurate payroll instructions, to meet payroll deadlines by working with People Team in specific Administrator.

• Manage staff sickness and absence in accordance with the sickness absence management policy, notifying team managers of absence thresholds and advising on Company Sick Pay limitations.

• Manage and support the implementation and monitoring of HR processes including pre-employment checks (right to work), Enhanced DBS vetting and MOD security clearance, employment contracts and variations, starters and leavers, induction, mandatory/other training, probationary period review, performance and development review, maternity/paternity/shared parental leave, flexible working requests and the evaluation of training.

• Provide and Support Administrator in the management information reports relating to HR, for example absence data, annual leave allowances, training compliance etc.
• Work with team managers to ensure all information (e.g., jobs descriptions, working hours and patterns, etc.) is consistent and up to date.

• Support Head of People in the development of HR policies, Rewards/Benefits, and other HR related projects, as requested.

• Input, maintenance, and provision of all HR data held within the HR Management System (PeopleHR) ensuring a high degree of accuracy.

• Maintain the People Team cloud-based e-filing system to ensure documents and information are retained and easy to locate.

• Initiate and co-ordinate progress of all mandatory staff training (in accordance with the training matrix) reporting compliance issues to managers.

• Be prepared to support all HR Administrator activities during periods of absence.

• Working alongside People Administrator and supporting the Head of People and site leadership team driving the delivery of the people agenda across the organization.

We are looking for someone to provide HRBP support to all directorates on matters including recruitment and selection, payroll and induction of new starters. The role will lead on employee relations work so experience of this complex casework is essential. The HR Officer and Executive Assistant role is a newly created position to reflect both the growing HR needs of the charity as the workforce expands, and the executive support required by the CEO and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to ensure the efficient and effective running of the charity. This is a key role which is instrumental in bringing the HR and organisational administration functions together at an operational level.

Reporting primarily to the Director of Finance and Resources and assisted by an external HR and Employment Law support service, this role will provide advice, guidance and support to all line managers in HR related matters whilst building and nurturing relationships with key stakeholders throughout all levels of the organisation.  This will include support to ensure the efficient and effective management, monitoring and reporting of people metrics, from recruitment, development, retention through to attrition and at all stages of the employee life cycle.

About you:
