What the job involves

As our Senior People Services Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day heartbeat of People Services and make sure every colleague has a smooth, supportive and high-quality experience throughout their time with us.

You’ll be the person who keeps things running brilliantly: setting the pace for operational delivery, supporting managers with confidence, and making sure our processes are simple, clear and compliant – ensuring delivery through an experienced and high-performing People Services Team. You’ll work closely with People & Culture, Finance, IT and leaders across the charity to drive a consistent, joined up service that helps people do their best work.

This is a hands-on leadership role partnering with People & Culture leadership and peers to drive the People Strategy and foster a high-performance, inclusive culture. You’ll shape how we deliver People Services, spotting ways to improve, simplify and modernise what we do. You’ll lead a team covering critical activity relating to all stages of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding, contracts, HR systems and data, payroll oversight, policies and employee relations, and you’ll be the operational authority and escalation point for complex or high-risk issues.

Some of the work you and your team will be getting involved in includes:

• Leading and developing the People Services & Payroll team so they have clarity, support and space to thrive.
• Making sure onboarding, contracts, and offboarding all run smoothly and consistently, with a great colleague experience.
• Overseeing HR systems and data to maintain accuracy, insight and compliance.
• Working with People Experience & Communications colleagues to refresh and embed people policies in a way that feels simple and supportive and encourages co-creation.
• Coaching managers on inclusive, confident people leadership and helping them handle tricky issues with care and clarity.
• Taking the lead on complex employee relations cases, change processes or emerging risks, and ensuring we handle things fairly and consistently.
• Driving continuous improvement - whether that’s simplifying a workflow, introducing a digital tool, or building capability across the organisation.
• Providing operational insight to support strategy, planning, resourcing and decision-making at leadership level.

• Strong HR operations experience at a senior level, with CIPD Level 5 or equivalent knowledge.

• Experience overseeing payroll operations and HR systems, with a practical understanding of data accuracy, GDPR and people metrics.
• A natural adaptability to changing priorities and an ability to build trust and influence across all levels - someone who can coach managers, support colleagues and work in partnership with senior leaders.

How and where we work

Colleagues attend the office at least four days per month (pro rata for part-time colleagues) to collaborate, build relationships, and support projects and decision-making. You can choose where to work the rest of the time. Travel to the office is a commute, so we pay our own travel costs.

Additional in-person attendance will be required during your first few months for induction and training, to support you to learn the role and get to know colleagues.

Brief role description:

The HR Manager will provide end-to-end, operational and strategic human resources support for the charity's international workforce (excluding APAC). Acting as a trusted advisor to leadership and line managers, the role will ensure that people practices are compliant, values-driven, and aligned with our strategy. The postholder will lead on talent acquisition, employee lifecycle management, employment relations, policy development, total rewards, and HR vendor management, delivering a pragmatic and high-quality HR service appropriate to a small charity environment.

Main responsibilities:

1. Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning

• Lead on talent and succession planning, along with the full recruitment lifecycle, including workforce planning, role design, advertising, shortlisting, interviewing, and onboarding with the support of the HR Coordinator

• Manage relationships with external recruitment agencies and job boards as required.

• Work with the Head of Finance & HR on the annual headcount plan.

• In partnership with Health & Inclusion lead seek to diversify our staff team in line with our commitments in the Diversity Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP)

• Support nominations committee with Trustee Recruitment as required

• Support the set up of new international legal entities where required

2. Employee Lifecycle Management

• Oversee all aspects of the employee lifecycle, from onboarding through probation, development, performance management, and exit.

• Oversee accurate and compliant employee records and HR systems.

• Lead on performance management process, supporting a culture of accountability, development, and feedback and development and utilisation of supporting tools.

• Manage leavers, including resignations, retirements, and departures where applicable.

3. Employment Relations

• Act as the lead point of contact for employee relations matters, including absence management, disciplinary, grievance, capability, and performance issues.

• Provide expert advice to managers on employment law, best practice, and risk mitigation.

• Support formal processes, ensuring fairness, consistency, and legal compliance.

4. Line Manager Support & Capability Building

• Coach and advise line managers on people management responsibilities and decision-making.

• Build manager capability through guidance, toolkits, and targeted training.

• Promote consistent people management practices across the organisation.

5. HR Policies, Compliance & Governance

• Develop and Implement the annual “People Plan” in line with Sport England Guidance

• Develop, implement, and regularly review HR policies and procedures to ensure legal compliance and alignment with organisational values.

• Ensure compliance with employment legislation and charity governance standards.

• Maintain an external network to stay up to date and abreast of new developments in the sphere of HR.

• Support organisational change initiatives, ensuring appropriate consultation and communication.

• Provide information to the Nominations and Remuneration Committee as required

6. Total Rewards & Benefits (Including Vendor Management)

• Manage the organisation’s total rewards framework, including pay structures, benefits, pensions, and non-financial rewards.

• Act as the primary liaison with external vendors (e.g. payroll providers, pension administrators, benefits suppliers).

• Oversee payroll processes carried out by People & Culture co-ordinator

• Benchmark reward practices to ensure competitiveness within the charity sector and affordability.

7. Learning and Development:

• Conduct organisational capability assessment and training needs analysis and develop annual training plan within budget

• Design, source, and manage cost-effective learning solutions, including internal training, external providers, pro-bono support, e-learning platforms, and charity-sector resources.

• Support the development of managers through targeted people-management and leadership development initiatives.

• Manage L&D budgets and relationships with external training providers where applicable.

Expectations of line managers at parkrun:

• Will have regular 1:1s with direct reports.

Are you a programme manager who has experience of working on varied fundraising projects?
We’re looking for a Programme Manager (Income Generation), who will apply project management methodologies to align all fundraising activity with the divisional objective: to bring in the funds that make our work possible.

What does this role do?
As Programme Manager (Income Generation), you will:

• apply standardised project management lifecycles, methodologies and governance to all activity in the Income Generation division, ensuring all work is aligned with strategic objectives,
• support the division to design and deliver projects, covering the full project lifecycle from initial scoping to lessons learned and evaluation,
• report on progress throughout projects, proactively identifying and communicating dependencies, risks and priorities,
• engage with stakeholders across the division to understand their projects and challenges, while working closely with the Portfolio team and other Programme Managers to align projects with wider organisational priorities.

Interviews for this role are provisionally scheduled for 16th and 17th April 2026, and will take place on Teams.

Could this be you?
To be successful in this role, you’ll need experience of delivering complex programmes and business planning, ideally with experience in income generation or fundraising, with an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities projects in this space present. Experience of supporting teams and projects through significant change, preferably supported by a qualification in project management. You’ll be an excellent communicator with strong stakeholder management skills, who works proactively and autonomously, and has experience of managing project budgets. • Hours of work: Full time (37.5 hours per week)

Purpose of the role

The Finance (FM) contributes to ENN’s vision through strategic management and governance of its financial resources and budgets.

The Finance Manager is responsible for finance strategy, planning and oversight, reporting, regulatory compliance and aligning finance strategies with organisational goals and operations.  The FM is a member of the management team, provides key insights to support business decisions, liaises with the board of trustees and holds the position of Company Secretary.

Responsibilities

· Develop ENN’s finance strategy in support of the delivery of its 5 year strategic goals.

· Proactively enhance ENN’s financial systems to manage and oversee project budgets, forecast trends, identify opportunities, and analyse organizational performance through data-driven decision making

· Strategic Support – Provide management information and financial insights to the management team and trustees including identification and mitigation of strategic and operational financial risks.

· Line Management – Line manage and mentor the finance team (currently 1 management accountant) and ensure positive, productive, and supportive team relationships

· Oversee the core finance functions; including multi-currency (GBP, EUR and USD) payables , receivables, bank reconciliations, cash flow and general ledger reconciliations

· Budgeting & Forecasting - Lead the annual budgeting process and track financial performance of the organisation as well as budget variance analysis of project P&L’s

· Manage finance year end and the Charity’s annual and other audits, including holding the relationship with auditors and preparing the appropriate statements

· Contribute to the organisation’s income generation ambitions, supporting partner due diligence and in providing advice, guidance and assistance, and in preparation of funding proposal budgets that meet ENN’s requirements

· Internal Controls & Compliance - Advise the management team on any measures required to ensure that financial systems (including payroll and banking systems), policies, procedures and controls are robust and adhere to regulatory requirements and implement these procedures where appropriate.

· Manage effective payroll, including: Preparing payroll calculations, submissions on Bright Pay pension administration, payroll year end schedules and PSA calculation and submission.

· Charity Governance – Company Secretary duties ensuring timely and accurate statutory filing with Companies House and The Charity Commission

· Maintain high quality records in line with regulatory requirements and GDPR

Person Specification

Essential

· Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)

· Extensive experience of leading financial management for organisations in the non-profit sector, with a thorough understanding of charity specific financial obligations.

· Demonstrated experience in reporting to and engaging with management teams and/or trustees on matters related to financial risk management, including presenting complex financial data, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.

· Experience of building and managing grant funded project accounting with proportional allocation of staff costs to funds.

· Experience of developing funding proposals with a variety of funders, including institutional funders, foundations and NGO’s

· Experience of managing payroll.

· Experience in line managing a team including appropriate delegation, performance management, staff engagement and development, and effective coordination of team workload

· Ability to work both autonomously and as pro-active business partner to members of a dispersed team.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Proficient user of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and a range of commercial financial software (ENN use iplicit accounting software)

Desirable

• Specific experience with international institutional funders, foundations and International NGO’s would be an advantage

Reporting Lines

The Finance Manager is a member of ENN’s Management Team and reports to the Chief Executive Officer and has line management responsibility for a small team (currently 1 management accountant).

What we expect from you

Working alongside the Head of Operations, CEO and department heads, your responsibilities will cover Shift.ms and its wholly owned subsidiary, realworld ms ltd, as follows:

Financial management

• Be the primary point of contact for our Treasurer, Accountant and External Auditor;

• Review and constantly improve processes and internal controls for finance;

• Lead the development of annual budgets and shorter/longer term forecasts as needed;

• Manage accounting, budget and cash flow, and working with the CEO, develop cost reduction strategies as needed;

• Prepare monthly management accounts incorporating variance analysis of budgets vs. actuals and headline narrative;

• Manage monthly payroll with an external payroll provider;

• Draft consolidated statutory accounts for audit and lead the coordination of year-end audit;

• Prepare quarterly VAT returns for the Group and be the main point of contact for HMRC;

• Make recommendations for corporate gift aid donations based on performance and future forecasts for the subsidiary;

• Present finance updates in-person at quarterly board meetings normally held in London;

• Manage and lead FinCom meetings, typically held quarterly;

• Attend the trustee annual away weekend.

Bookkeeping 

• Lead the financial operations of the charity including recording transactions onto the finance system (Quickbooks), managing cashflow, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, processing of purchase invoices and supplier payments;

• Complete month end reconciliations as part of the preparation of monthly management accounts;

• Track, calculate and process intercompany recharges to ensure costs sit within the correct entity;

• Track and ensure correct treatment and reporting of restricted/unrestricted funds;

• Process employee, volunteer & trustee expense claims;

• Manage the relationship with an external payroll bureau, liaising with them to ensure payroll is processed accurately and paid on time;

Purpose of Role

This role plays a key part in enabling the smooth running of the Comic Relief Funding Department by developing, maintaining and co-ordinating the efficient and effective management of Funding Department financial and operations processes and systems.

Finance Manager (Part-Time)

Hours: 16 hours per week (hybrid working, with at least 50% of time in the Guildford office)
Salary: £43,000–£45,000 FTE (depending on experience)

Oakleaf Enterprise is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our team. This is a key role within the organisation, working closely with the Chief Executive, Trustees and wider Senior Management Team. You’ll oversee all financial activity, ensure compliance with Charity SORP and relevant regulations, and support the organisation to operate efficiently and responsibly.

About the role

You will lead on all financial reporting, planning and compliance, and ensure financial information is accurate, timely and useful for decision-making. You will also manage one member of staff (Finance Administrator) and work with colleagues across the organisation to support budgeting, forecasting, project costing and grant applications.

Key responsibilities

Board & Leadership

• Advise the CEO and Board on all financial matters, ensuring all legal and financial requirements are met.
• Attend Board and relevant sub-committee meetings.
• Provide financial input for the Strategic Business Plan and other analysis as required.

Reporting

• Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, restricted/unrestricted funds and balance sheet reporting.
• Lead the year-end process with external accountants, including audit/independent exam planning, reconciliations, site visits and production of Financial Statements.
• Work with the CEO and department leads to prepare the annual budget and provide variance analysis for Board approval.
• Produce a six‑month reforecast.
• Monitor restricted funds and update the Fundraising and Client Services teams.
• Track reserves and ensure adherence to the reserves policy.

Tax

• Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensuring correct application of partial exemption rules.
• Review gift aid and GASDS claims to ensure compliance and maximise income.

Payroll

• Ensure compliance with pensions, NMW and tax regulations.
• Oversee P11Ds and payrolling of benefits (where applicable).
• Support and oversee the Finance Administrator with SAGE payroll and keep up to date with relevant tax/employment law changes.
• Review payroll before submission.

Other responsibilities

• Manage high‑level cashflow and work with the Finance Administrator on daily cash monitoring.
• Line-manage the Finance Administrator.
• Support departments with project budgets, cashflows and grant applications.
• Develop and update financial systems and controls as the organisation evolves.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure cost‑effective purchasing (including IT, utilities and contracts).
• Contribute to the wider SMT.
• Maintain the chart of accounts in SAGE and ensure monthly reconciliations and journals are completed.
• Keep up with CPD requirements.
• Carry out other duties as required.

Essential criteria

• Experience working in a charity, with strong knowledge of Charity SORP (old and new).
• Experience using SAGE 50.
• Fully qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CIPFA).
