We, the Universities Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW) and the Humane Slaughter Association (HSA), are two sister charities focused on the promotion of scientific, evidence-based approaches to animal welfare. We fund research, support the animal welfare science community, and advocate for evidence-based improvements to animal welfare worldwide. Communicating animal welfare science to both specialist audiences and the wider public is key to turning knowledge into real-world improvements in animal welfare. We are seeking a Scientific Communications and Content Assistant to join our talented Scientific Communications Team during an exciting period of growth and change for both charities.
The Scientific Communications and Content Assistant will support us to deliver our scientific communications strategy by helping to draft, design and publish engaging content for our print and digital platforms. This includes assisting with the creation of visual and written content that effectively convey complex scientific information to our diverse audiences.
The role will report to our Scientific Communications and Outreach Manager and work closely with the Public Affairs Lead and other internal teams to create engaging content for our audiences. We are seeking candidates with strong written, editing and visual skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and clarity.
The ideal candidate will enjoy working as part of our small multi-disciplinary team and be confident to work unsupervised when necessary. You will be happy working across multiple projects, adapting to different communication styles and priorities, and keeping messaging clear and consistent across varied audiences.
This role will be home-based. Because we’re based in the UK, the appointee will need to be UK-based and legally entitled to work in the UK. You will be expected to occasionally attend our offices in Hertfordshire to carry out duties as required and attend meetings. Travel costs and subsidence will be covered for you in these situations. The role may also require occasional travel within the UK and possibly overseas for events and other relevant activities - some of which may occur at weekends or in the evening.
What you’ll be doing
- Drafting copy, designing graphics/visual materials (eg using Canva) and producing content for print, web, email, and social media
- Overseeing the Charities’ day-to-day social media activity, including scheduling posts, monitoring channels, and responding to engagement.
- Assisting with the creation and dissemination of the Charities’ content including but not limited to press releases, newsletters, and digital campaign materials.
- Liaising regularly with internal teams to stay up to date on the Charities’ activities and to plan and schedule content across channels.
- Monitoring social media analytics and Mailchimp performance metrics to support reporting and strategy development.
- Collaborating with internal teams, for example Fundraising, to ensure consistent messaging and branding.
- Occasionally creating, editing and publishing video content.
- Liaising with external agencies, partners and stakeholders.
- Ensuring all materials and communications are accessible and inclusive.
- Occasionally travelling within the UK and overseas for conferences, meetings and other events - some of which may take place during evenings or weekends.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience in digital communications, content creation and social media.
- Demonstrable writing and editing skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using social media platforms (eg LinkedIn, Facebook, BlueSky and YouTube) and scheduling tools such as Hootsuite.
- Experience using graphic and content design tools such as Canva.
- Ability to monitor, analyse and interpret performance analytics from platforms including Mailchimp, social media, Hootsuite etc.
- Proven organisational and time management skills.
- Experience of working collaboratively with diverse teams, with well-developed interpersonal skills.

- An understanding of and comfort with the Charities’ approach to animal welfare which includes co-operation with the livestock and slaughter industry, as well as laboratory animal researchers. Whilst both charities promote the highest standards of animal welfare, they do not oppose the use of animals by humans for research or food.

Responsibilities
The employee will provide day-to-day support to the Ambassadors team. In this role, Ambassador Community Coordinator will:
- Participate in the implementation of a “white glove” strategy aimed at retaining and engaging a broad and sustainable base of VVIP contacts while strengthening their sense of belonging to the Ambassadors community.
- Support the team in organising and coordinating a calendar of events, particularly Ambassador events taking place in Paris, London, Brussels (and sometimes New York).
- Produce communication and engagement materials to animate the community on various platforms and to promote its actions externally.
- Be responsible for researching and monitoring news about the community.
- Contribute to the identification and integration of new Ambassadors (recruitment, onboarding, etc.).
- Ensure the proper maintenance of the database.
- Be responsible for any other tasks that may be assigned to them as part of their duties.
Skills and qualifications required for this position:
- All candidates must be legally entitled to work in the UK.
- Required experience: minimum 4 years of professional experience in fields relevant to the position, for example: network and community management, customer engagement, exclusive events, etc.

Contract Details

Your role
As a Fundraising and Partnerships Lead, you will:
- Manage and grow the regions partnership pipelines, identifying and capitalising on new opportunities

We have a brilliant opportunity for a Research Manager to join the Rhodes Trust, Oxford. This role is an integral role in a dynamic, international team and a fantastic opportunity for a driven and analytical senior researcher to manage the Trust’s philanthropy, prospect and due diligence research.
We are looking for the successful candidate to start with us in January 2026.
The role
The successful candidate will be responsible for the research strategy of the Global Engagement Team and the delivery of a high quality, in-house research service to the Warden (CEO), Trustees and senior leadership of the Rhodes Trust, in support of fundraising towards the Trust’s 125th Anniversary Campaign goal of £200 million and increased alumni and friends of Rhodes engagement. The role includes line management of two Research Associates.
The role will be responsible for;
· Managing research output to support the GET team mission.
· Managing the delivery of all briefing materials for the Warden’s Office, Trustees and senior leadership team (SLT) to support stakeholder engagement, events and travel.
· Lead tailored research projects for key global regions in co-ordination with GET senior leadership and to support Campaign Committee. Pro-actively identify potential prospects, donors, partners and volunteers for the Trust for inclusion within fundraising pipelines
· Manage a varied portfolio of research resources and processes, including scoping materials, briefings and profiles, reports, network mapping, regional insights/analysis, philanthropic trends/issues, and country-specific content.
· In collaboration with the International & Special Projects Lead (Warden/CEO Office) and GET senior leadership, support the strategy, planning and delivery of all global travel for the Warden and fundraising team, including objectives/goals, itinerary design, identifying engagement opportunities and delivery of all associated research materials.

In this role, the Law and Policy Advisor / Lawyer will primarily address issues relating to forest governance, climate change and community tenure rights in our focus countries across West and Central Africa, particularly in Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana. The Law and Policy Advisor / Lawyer will use their experience and skills to support the legal capacity of civil society and other stakeholders to take part in the design and implementation of stronger legal frameworks around forest governance, community rights and forest-risk commodities (specifically timber, cocoa & minerals)

The Position
As part of a small team, the Events Assistant will support the Venue Hire team with general administrative tasks, sales, planning and delivery of events and exhibitions for external venue hire clients as well as support Society colleagues with internal event planning.

We’ve made substantial progress in recent years, with improvements and expansions to our delivery model and significant growth in our staff team. To support this growth, we are recruiting for a part time Business Support Officer to help provide administrative support to our growing team of staff and volunteers.
Working closely with colleagues across the charity, your responsibilities will include supporting our Resources Manager to ensure that our operational teams have access to all the learning resources they need, providing administrative support to our operational and volunteer management teams, and helping to keep our internal systems up to date.
It is essential that you have strong organisational skills, excellent attention to detail, good communication abilities, and a proactive attitude towards assisting with diverse administrative tasks. You must be IT literate, with a good working knowledge of the commonly used Microsoft business tools, and be able to work independently. Underpinning this will be the ability to build relationships, and personal qualities that include persistence, determination and a problem-solving approach. This is a home-based role but may require very occasional travel around the UK including overnight stays. This role is 3 days per week (21 hours) with working days/hours to be mutually agreed in line with business needs.

The Candidate
Track record of working on successful digital marketing, campaigns and communications ideally in a charity setting.
Experience of delivering digital marketing strategy and campaign management for lead generation, acquisition and retention that is audience-centric, rooted in insight and target driven.
Experience of working across a range of digital channels including paid and organic social media, Google Ads , web and email.
Hands-on experience of working with digital production, service providers and platforms to identify and deliver best-in-class digital solutions.
Experience of digital and data reporting and analysis, with track-record of acting on insights to achieve KPls and income targets.
Experience working with a wide range of stakeholders to support their digital marketing planning and communication delivery.
