About the role:

You will be responsible for making MAG’s new global fundraising strategy a reality by securing multi-year, multi-million philanthropic pledges from high-net-worth individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporates to increase the sustainability of strategic programme delivery, and provide core funding to pilot new ideas and to bring about lasting change. You will work with the Head of Philanthropy and other senior management to identify, cultivate, and maximise transformational long-term relationships with Major Donors and Foundations through research, networking, events, proposals, and excellent stewardship, securing philanthropic income against target to further the work of MAG around the world. You will primarily focus on UK donors and those within our geographic reach, but will be part of our wider drive to increase global income and will be part of a team that incorporates US fundraisers.

It is an incredibly exciting time to be joining MAG’s newly formed Global Fundraising team. We have developed a new 5-year strategy that will see us focus on growing our income and activities in order to respond in a volatile world. Our Philanthropy programme aims to more than double income over the next five years across our key audiences in UK and US.

 

About you:

You should possess essential experience in relationship building and management across a range of philanthropic funding streams, successful fundraising strategy execution, project planning, event planning and management and financial target management. You should excel in creating compelling cases for support both written and verbal and confidently develop content, proposals, and reports of high quality, have excellent internal and external communication skills, be able to develop and execute bespoke supporter journeys, and have proven experience in meeting financial targets. The ability to understand and apply charity laws in the UK is vital, along with line management and leadership skills.

MSA Trust is a UK and Ireland-wide charity, supporting people with a life-limiting rare neurodegenerative disease. It has home based staff around the UK and a small office in central London. Your role will be pivotal in supporting the CEO and senior team to undertake their roles. 

Purpose

This is a vital role sitting as part of the Senior leadership team at Hope and contributing to the future sustainability and development of Hope.

The purpose of the role is to manage all aspects of Income Generation and manage the commissioned projects which Hope run.

Developing a long term sustainable income generation portfolio you will have responsibility for your own income generation and manage the fundraising team to deliver their financial targets, motivating and monitoring them to achieve success.

Our current income generation activity currently generates around £1.2million per annum and it is the post holders responsibility to grow this income to achieve £1.5million per annum in the next 5 years to ensure Hope can achieve it’s newly launched Operational Strategy.

There is also a likely a facility move in the future, where the Head of Development would need to access funds, in addition to operational budget, for a facility transformation project.

As Line Manager for Hope’s commissioned projects you will have overall responsibility to deliver on the contracts for which we have been commissioned and identify growth potential for the organisation.

Responsibilities

• To Manage all aspects of income generation at Hope.
• To deliver a diverse fundraising portfolio to ensure long-term sustainability.
• To lead a small team of fundraisers and work with the Marketing Manager to achieve income levels as determined by the CEO and Board of trustees.
• To Line Manage and lead on all commissioned work, people recruited and project management.

Leadership:

Management:

• Lead a small team of dedicated Fundraising Senior Coordinators to access funds to ensure the ongoing delivery of Hopes Homeless, Hunger and Hardship priorities.

Fundraising

• Work closely with Marketing Manager to ensure a clear public donation pathway exists linking to website, social media, events promotion, and any other marketing- tracking success of each communication approach at increasing income.
• To manage all grants and trusts contracts from application to reporting and ongoing engagements.
• Lead on major donor, VIP and legacy events to ensure further income opportunities.
• To manage all commissioned projects from application, to oversight of project delivery, including management of posts recruited to reporting and ongoing engagement.
• Lead any future capital fundraising appeals for new of existing facilities.

General:

• To be an active and effective member of the Senior Leadership team and ambassador for the work of the organisation, our strategic framework 2024-2029 and our values in all you do.

Bike rides, Sponsored runs, sponsored abseiling, charity balls etc) when comparing to running the portfolio of events in-house for just Hope”

The Talent Set are delighted to be working with London's Air Ambulance Charity, supporting them to recruit a Deputy Head of Philanthropy (Trusts) maternity cover. This role will start at a key time in strategy development and long term planning, as they enter the final phase of their incredibly successful Up Against Time Appeal to replace their two helicopters.

As they enter the final phase of the appeal, having raised £11.5m of their £15m target (with a number of further pledges confirmed) this role will focus on developing the long term Trusts fundraising strategy. As Deputy Head of Philanthropy you will be tasked with considering the opportunities presented by the new 15 year organisational strategy, and contributing to the wider Philanthropy, Partnerships and Events team plans to ensure they have a strong footing as they look to the long term and next 15 years of London's Air Ambulance Charity. 

As Deputy Head of Philanthropy you will not only lead on strategy development but also build and develop the Trusts pipeline, leading and developing the Trusts and Prospect Research teams to improve internal processes and influence/respond to upcoming fundraising opportunities. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Trusts and Prospect Research teams and programmes through a year of maternity cover, ensuring both areas are in a strong position on the return of the substantive postholder. 
• Act as LAAC's Trust and Lead Gift (£500k+) fundraising expert, leading the Trusts and Prospect Research teams to be ambitious and consider the long term funding opportunities for the charity. 
• Lead the team through the transition from the Up Against Time Appeal to focus on the new 15 year organisational strategy and opportunities it presents to develop the pipeline for new projects.
• Take ownership of the Trusts, Foundations and Statutory pipeline, leading income generation from these sources with a personal focus on £100k+ opportunities, while informing the organisation's approach to restricted fundraising opportunities.
• Support the development of direct reports and wider Philanthropy, Partnerships and Events team. 

Person Specification:

• Strong sector knowledge and technical expertise of Trust fundraising, with experience of securing £100k+ support from trusts, foundations and/or statutory sources.

In addition to leading and developing the fundraising team, the Head of Fundraising will be part of our collaborative Executive Team, working closely with colleagues in Communications and Engagement, Business Development, Finance, and across our Services regions and specialisms. They will also receive support from our Head of Faith in Action, who reports to the CEO, and collaborate with our Chair of Trustees, Professor Jim McManus, and other trustees. What you’ll be doing

This is an exciting new role that provides an opportunity to build a new major gifts programme from scratch. Supported by the Senior Development Manager, you will work closely with the CEO, Director of Development and the Board to develop a giving strategy that will directly feed into our organisational strategy, with a focus on increasing engagement and the growth of the major donor income stream.

You will manage a portfolio of existing major donors and conduct prospect research, developing bespoke stewardship of donors giving gifts from £5,000 to £50,000.

As a result of the pandemic and cost of living crisis, the shape of disadvantage in the UK has changed significantly and we’ve seen the fastest growing child poverty in decades. We are expanding our work to meet this growing need and have developed a new strategy to address the risk of social and economic exclusion.

What we’re looking for

You will be an excellent major donor fundraiser, with experience of designing and delivering high-impact stewardship programmes and events, and a track record of securing major gifts through written and/or verbal proposals. You will be able to work primarily from home if you prefer, but will need to be able to be in London when necessary – approximately once a month on average – as well as being willing to travel to meet donors when necessary.

Fundraising Assistant

Contract: Permanent, part-time (21 hours per week)

Salary: £25,000 - £27,000 pro rata (commensurate with experience)

This is a part-time post, 21 hours per week to be worked on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Hybrid working available, with a requirement to be in the Battersea office 1 to 2 days per week.
