Job Description
We are looking for someone who has the experience, skills and drive to grow our income, to build strong relationships with supporters and to lead our communications. This will initially take place in the community of Nottinghamshire and provides an exciting opportunity to develop your own strategic fundraising and marketing approach to ensure we can support hundreds of local bereaved children and families every year.
Working closely with the Chief Executive, you will review current fundraising activities and communications to develop the existing income generation strategy to meet the charity’s strategic objectives. You will be responsible for leading a team of three, to enable them to reach their individual marketing, community fundraising and fundraising administration goals.
You will play a vital part in leading the income growth and expansion of the charity, as per the long-term organisational strategy, through proactively securing and developing existing support throughout the region. This will be through a variety of income streams including individual giving, in-memory donations, legacy donations, major donors, corporates and community.
About you
The successful candidate will have energy, ideas, skills, and a proven fundraising track record (or transferable experience of managing and developing diverse funding streams and effective communications).
You will have excellent organisational and communication skills, including networking, and good IT and social media skills. You will need a full UK driving licence, be self-motivated and the ability to work well alone and with others.

We need an events manager who is adept at managing projects and events, working with our fundraisers and encouraging our supporters to get involved in our events such as our annual trek, the prestigious Care Sector Ball, and all the other events we’re involved in. The right person will have the confidence and persistence it takes to persuade, cajole, prod and encourage fundraisers to do as much as they can to raise funds for us. You need to be proficient at managing the admin that goes with events, including using fundraising platforms such as Just Giving and Enthuse to engage with fundraisers and provide regular reports on the income raised. We will also need you to organize hotel, travel, conference arrangements for the team.
You must be based in England, to help us keep travel costs down as much as possible. The role is home based, with travel to fundraising events, conferences and network meetings, and with travel every 10 weeks or so to central London for team meetings.
You must be a determined self-reliant professional though also a team player, to effectively coordinate and execute events and other activities, and be passionate about events management and fundraising to enable us to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Purpose
This is a vital role sitting as part of the Senior leadership team at Hope and contributing to the future sustainability and development of Hope.
The purpose of the role is to manage all aspects of Income Generation and manage the commissioned projects which Hope run.
Developing a long term sustainable income generation portfolio you will have responsibility for your own income generation and manage the fundraising team to deliver their financial targets, motivating and monitoring them to achieve success.
Our current income generation activity currently generates around £1.2million per annum and it is the post holders responsibility to grow this income to achieve £1.5million per annum in the next 5 years to ensure Hope can achieve it’s newly launched Operational Strategy.
There is also a likely a facility move in the future, where the Head of Development would need to access funds, in addition to operational budget, for a facility transformation project.
As Line Manager for Hope’s commissioned projects you will have overall responsibility to deliver on the contracts for which we have been commissioned and identify growth potential for the organisation.

Working Arrangements and Travel Requirements
Rainforest Trust UK staff work remotely and you will be expected to work primarily from home with an excellent internet connection. You may be based anywhere in the UK but you will be expected to work from a shared team space in London once a month, and your donor meetings/events are most likely to take place there.
The postholder will be required to host networking events and attend some online meetings with our partners in the U.S so some (early) evening working is required. We are also flexible as to how many hours this postholder works, and will consider a 3-5 day per week arrangement, depending on experience.
