Membership Specialist

Position: Membership Specialist
Location: Hybrid/London (in the office at least once per month on average)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full and part time hours considered
Salary: £29,624 per annum (FTE) (pro rata for part time hours)

About the Role
As a membership specialist, you will be a responsible member of our membership team, providing a frontline service for customer enquiries. Primarily, this involves administering the UKCP membership register by efficiently processing admissions, exits, and renewals, while utilising customer service skills to offer a professional and contemporary service. This role also includes responsibility for capturing essential data and processing associated transactions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide general enquiry services to members, non-members, and members of the general public, including being part of a pool of staff responsible for dealing with enquiries by telephone, emails, social media, and postal enquiries.
- Develop and maintain a broad understanding of the administration and regulatory procedures relevant to the updating of member records, admission to a category of membership, and processing of subscription details. Such day-to-day activities require the ability to follow defined operations to a consistently high standard.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of applications for UKCP membership, following defined guidelines and processes. Produce reports from CRM systems as required.
- Be responsible for the administration of the renewal process for individual members, ensuring renewals, reminders, generating certificates, and lapsing are carried out accurately within specified timescales.
- Proactively identify and suggest feedback and ideas about new membership grades, member benefits, and new products and services to managers.
- Actively pursue the retention and recruitment of members and encourage the uptake of benefits and services by members and non-members alike.
- Proactively market membership services, providing consultative advice on the range of services and benefits related to membership grades.
About You

You will need to have the following skills and experience:
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in a similar remote customer service role.
- Confident using technology and software applications, with experience of working with databases, emails, documents, spreadsheets, and videocalls.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in working with remote team members and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, share responsibilities, and support one another in achieving common goals.
- Demonstrated ability to consistently meet and exceed targets, in areas such as email and telephone quotas for example.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, making well-informed decisions, and taking ownership of tasks and projects.

SAPHNA is a professional organisation and charity established in 2006. We are the voice of school and public health nurses across the UK, and the Crown Dependencies. The initial contract is 12 months fixed term with a view to extension. There will be a 3 month probational period.
24 hours per week, £33,000-35,000 pa, pro rata and depending on experience. Pension included.
The role is home based with ability and willingness to travel across UK when required. Flexible working hours to be agreed and to meet the needs of the organisation. Holiday allowance is 25 days per annum pro rata plus bank holidays.
Main Responsiblities:
- Supporting the Professional Officer in managing finance, human resources, risk management, quality, operational change, board activities and business planning for the organisation.
- Providing programme management support for SAPHNA bidding, budget, invoicing, and contract management processes.
- To support the development and delivery of SAPHNA business planning and prioritisation, including horizon scanning and creating business cases and new opportunities for income generation.
- To support the Professional Officer in ensuring all the organisations charitable obligations are met.
- To support the Professional Officer and SAPHNA team as required in any other related work- streams.
- Line manage the administrator assistant and have organisation oversight and governance responsibilities of the office based processes.

The Bone Cancer Research Trust strives to provide a supportive network for all primary bone cancer patients to limit their feelings of isolation and anxiety. Given the rarity of the disease, patients can often go through their entire treatment and recovery without meeting another patient, so external support is vital.
Over the last 4 years, our Support & Information Service has seen significant growth, and developed to become a leading source of support for patients, family members, siblings and friends of patients. Our Support & Information team provide enduring support and ensure that this can be accessed at any point in a primary bone cancer journey and by anyone affected.
Our aim is to increase the reach of the service further, ensuring that all patients diagnosed in the UK have the opportunity to access our Support & Information Service. The Support & Information Officer will play a pivatol role in achieving this through building lasting relationships with both patients and families and healthcare professionals.
They will assist in all aspects of the Bone Cancer Research Trust's Support & Information Service, including the organisation and delivery of virtual support groups, the administration of the Charity's financial grants, the distribution of information resources and the administration of our digital groups. They will also have the opportunity to lead on the delivery of our regional in-person ‘Get-Togethers’, which bring the primary bone cancer community together to gain peer to peer support.The successful candidate will also play an important role in the continuous development of the Service, ensuring that impact is measured and feedback is acted upon.

Primary location of role and hybrid working
This role is primarily based in our London or Glasgow office. However, our hybrid working model allows full-time staff members to work up to 3 days per week at home.
