This role is based at our centre a short walk from Clapham Common tube station, in London. We support homeless people from the local area and further afield. Our services are open access, so the people who come to the Ace of Clubs are diverse and from multiple walks of life. Consequently their needs can be complex, so we are looking for a skilled communicator who can support people, many of who live chaotic lifestyles. Our purpose at the Ace of Clubs is to address people’s basic human needs by providing food, clothing, toiletries, and practical support. We help people link up with housing, healthcare, education, and employment. Our Support Workers work to help individuals overcome barriers to achieving wellbeing, whether it be through guidance in the support system, learning new skills or supporting service users to build the confidence and skills to enable them to navigate their life challenges and advocate for themselves. The ultimate aim of our work is to reduce people’s dependence on our service, helping them move toward independence.

KEY DUTIES
- To participate in the provision of advice and advocacy for service users addressing their needs in the following areas; Housing; Welfare; Health; Education; Employment, (this list is not exhaustive);
- Refer to and liaise with partners and agencies within the statutory and voluntary sector to secure positive outcomes for Centre Users, e.g. referring and signposting guests to accommodation providers, health services and other relevant internal and external support services, as necessary.
- Work in a manner which honours our organisational values and is responsive to the trauma and experiences of homelessness and vulnerable adults.
- Maintain essential records accurately on Charity Log, (ensuring high quality case recordings).
- Ensuring the Centre Manager is kept informed of all safeguarding and risk concerns.

About the Role
- Located at a 24-hour supported housing service in Clapham, we provide high quality self-contained accommodation for 15 women who have experienced homelessness and multiple disadvantages.
- The aim of the service is to provide a therapeutic environment in which women feel safe and can flourish, enabling them to move on into independent, permanent accommodation. The accommodation also includes overnight safe spaces.
- You will be responsible for providing support to all the residents as needed during the evening and night, including running co-designed activities, and responding appropriately to requests and incidents.
- The successful applicant must be able to model person-led, psychological, gender, and culturally informed support, be skilled at building trust and be a great team player. You must be confident working as the sole support worker on site and have good judgement in managing incidents.
- This is a waking night support role, undertaking 12 hour shifts alongside concierge, 8pm to 8am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night. Please be aware that the building has several floors and no lifts.

About the role:
Your role as a CYP caseworker will be as a single point of contact for children and young people who have been affected by crime along with their wider family, parent or guardian. As a Caseworker, you will;
- receive incoming referrals from a range of sources including the police, other agencies & individuals
- assess needs & risks & action plans with those affected by crime
- use our case management system to update case notes & record risk & needs
- give up to date information to victims of crime about the criminal justice system process
- liaise with other agencies to provide advocacy for the service user
- work with other criminal justice system agencies to ensure a trauma informed & victim friendly response
- promote the service ensuring the service is accessible & open to all
You will be a confident, compassionate and empathic person who can work well under pressure. You will be speaking to people who may be upset, angry or in emotional difficulties and will need to be composed, empathic and be able to quickly assess situations. You will be confident in using your IT skills to work on a case management system, access phone and online systems, email and Microsoft Office programmes.

About the position….
- As a Children’s Residential Support Worker, you will be attending to the needs of the children, planning activities considering that some of the Children and Young People may have additional and sometimes complex health needs.
- Working on your own initiative and as part of a team, you will be to preparing and assisting the young people to fulfil the aims of their person-centred plan. You will support the Children and Young People with communication working closely as a team that has a passion to improve their lives whilst in our care.
- You will work flexibly to undertake the full range of duties in a well-planned way that respects and values the Children and Young People as individuals.

What can you bring to the team….?
You don’t have to have any previous childcare experience as full training is provided, but if you have experience that is a bonus! We look for applicants who have the following skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills. You’ll be expected to liaise with other staff, parents/carers, and professionals.
- An ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team, taking the lead when required, maintaining & encouraging open and honest communication.
- A good standard of written English and IT skills would be essential, you will be writing reports and keep record of the Children and Young Peoples progress.
- Transporting children / young people to an activity or school is a requirement. A driving licence that has been held for 12 months would be desirable.
- If you don’t have direct experience of working with children maybe you have transferrable skills to bring to the role.
