Battersea has recently approved a new 5-year organisational strategy to deliver an even greater impact for dogs and cats through our Prevent, Support and Care activity. This, alongside Battersea’s significant growth in recent years, means that we now require greater coordination and structure to support how we prioritise and manage key organisational activity and manage our resources effectively.

To support the delivery of the new strategy and its respective programme of works, we are now seeking a new role of Head of Project and Strategic Planning to play a central role in shaping how we deliver our priorities across the organisation, supporting the leadership team, directors and strategic project leads in the delivery of our objectives, and ensuring there is effective management and oversight of projects and programmes which facilitates sound decision making and governance principles.

To support a significant CRM implementation programme, the programme has incorporated some formal governance structures and processes to support effective change management and decision making. We are now looking to embed and expand on those and ensure we have fit for purpose mechanisms for overseeing all key activity across the charity.

This role will therefore be responsible for developing, embedding, and leading a fit for purpose and effective Project Management Office (PMO), shaping delivery practices, building project management capability, and improve organisational alignment and performance in a way that supports dynamic cross-organisational decision making and innovation. As this is a new position, and will result in changes to our ways of working, the Head of Project and Strategic Planning will also be required to play a leading role in supporting and enabling organisational change, ensuring there is a clear understanding of change impacts associated with projects and programmes, strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills are applied, and clear transparent communication of the roadmap, including risks and benefits, is shared to bring people on the journey and enable us to embed best practice methodology.

The role is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service to visitors while in the process of serving food and beverages.

As a member of the Food and Beverage Team (F&B Team), you will deliver outstanding customer service to a broad range of customers. You will assist in the effective operation of the F&B offer in a variety of duties. This will include, but are not limited to, basic food and beverage preparation, maintaining presentation standards and supervised kitchen tasks. You will endeavour to maximise sales so that the profit can be reinvested in the conservation work of Gloucestershire.

This is permanent role with 20 hours per week. 4 days over 7 working pattern with occasional evening work for which overtime will be paid. F&B Team Members can expect to work anytime between 9am and 5.30pm.

Job Purpose:

General kitchen duties as well as preparing and serving meals throughout the day at the Centre as well as supporting the Coordinator and the Next Step Volunteers. 

What you will be doing:

· Preparing breakfast and lunch and drinks throughout the day.

· Work closely with the Kitchen Coordinator to support the Next Step volunteers.

· Meal planning and ordering in the absence of the Coordinator.

· Cleaning of the kitchen as well as a weekly deep clean.

· Any other work within the Centre that might be required.

Skills and Expeience Required:

GCSE Maths and English minimum 5 or above (High C and above).

A minimum of 2 years relevant experience (this can be from a wide variety of backgrounds).

Experience of working with disadvantaged people.

Experience of working within a small-medium charity.

Experience of working in a busy kitchen.

The Role – Individual Giving Assistant Manager

The Fundraising Department of Chester Zoo, a major wildlife charity, with a mission of Preventing Extinction works to secure income which contributes towards the delivery of our strategic development plan and ambitious conservation plan, helping to ensure nature can survive and thrive.

Reporting to the Fundraising & Philanthropy Lead and working with the wider Fundraising team, the Individual Giving Assistant Manager will lead on securing and managing small to medium donations from individuals. This includes our newly created Patron Scheme, multiple fundraising campaigns and all challenge events for the zoo (including Run for Nature).

We are looking for a proactive and conscientious individual who will take a data led approach to raise money in effective and creative ways, working with our Senior Marketing Manager and Senior Data and Insights Manager to identify patterns and drive donations through individual giving. They will also manage and drive revenue through onsite giving mechanisms including in-memory, naming opportunities and point of sale giving – all whilst helping to strengthen our supporter base and foster their long-term relationships with the zoo.

They will work across the organisation to support our team of conservationists and scientists at Chester Zoo to engage, train and support targets within our strategically important field, education and science led projects.

We’re looking for someone who can:

• Fundraising Strategy: Help to develop and implement new plans to continue to grow our Individual Giving income led by the Fundraising & Philanthropy Lead
• Prospect Development: Work with our Senior Marketing Manager and Senior Data and Insights Manager to identify patterns in giving using data from our CRM and drive donations through appeals and public campaigns across the organisation
• Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Develop an annual programme of stewardship and contact opportunities
• Campaigns: Develop and deliver engaging campaigns across multiple channels (direct mail, digital, email, on-site) aiming to grow a sustainable donor base. Monitoring and reporting on campaign performance using data to optimise and drive continuous improvement and donor retention

Our Requirements

• A demonstrable track-record in individual fundraising and/or high-level customer service
• Experience of using a database to manage and track donor gifts, relationships and pipeline
• The ability to create exciting and compelling fundraising campaigns across a range of different channels
• Skilled in managing and developing a portfolio of funders and meeting fundraising targets
• Experience in developing and building long-term donor relationships
• Confident communication skills, motivating supporters, as well as internal and external stakeholders and face-to-face contact with supporters
• Proven experience of delivering consistently high levels of supporter care
