The Customer Experience Manager holds a pivotal position at NCT, managing the complaints, compliments and comments processes and procedures for the organisation, as well the post-booking journey and the team that supports parents once they have booked their course with NCT. Home based within South West England. Frequent travel to food banks around region, and some travel to staff conferences, 121’s and team away days

The Network Lead plays a central role in helping us achieve our vision to end the need for food banks in the UK. This is a varied, proactive and fast-paced role that involves representing the Trussell Trust on policy and public affairs and key stakeholder relationships in South West, the leadership of a dynamic team of area managers that supports the network of food banks in the South West to deliver emergency food, and the coordination of projects and partnerships to support the food banks in our network to reduce the need for their services locally. 

Role responsibilities 

• Strategic Leadership: Manage the delivery of food bank operations in the nation and key strategic projects that are part of the Trussell Trust’s five-year strategy to end the need for food banks.

• Projects and partnerships: Build partnerships and develop projects with organisations to develop and build services and systems that help end the need for food banks.

• Policy, public affairs and church engagement: Engage with a wide range of external bodies, including national government, elected representatives, faith and community organisations, and research bodies. Ensure that local churches (including church leaders) feel connected and understand the importance of ending the need for food banks in local communities. 

• Team Leadership: Provide leadership, support, coaching, development, and line management to the area managers. Provide support, advice and guidance to Trussell Trust project leads as appropriate to ensure they understand the policy and public affairs context for delivering their work in the nation e.g. Pathfinder and Financial Inclusion team 

• Risk Management: Ensure consistent quality assurance of food banks across the nation , in line with the risk framework and support area managers to deal with complaints and manage food banks with high risks. 
   

• Cross-organisational working: Act as a liaison between the area team, the wider operations team, and other directorates, managing the flow of ideas and feedback to positive effect.  

Person Specification 

Technical skills and minimum knowledge: 

• Confidently represent the Trussell Trust with a range of stakeholders, including elected representatives, and effectively manage the roll-out of the organisational strategy in the /nation. 

• Policy and public affairs knowledge, including a track record of successfully influencing politicians and key decision-makers to achieve strategic goals. 

• Knowledge and experience of community development or local service provision. 

• Experience of managing projects and partnerships, from inception to evaluation, to achieve strategic goals. 

• Experience of team leadership including line management and supervision, including dealing with performance issues and using coaching skills. 

• Competent and efficient use of IT, including the main Microsoft Office programs and database management.

Journey and Cross Sell Manager (Maternity Cover)

The Journey and Cross Sell Manager is responsible for developing rich supporter journeys, primarily across email, that deepen the relationship between RNID and our incredible supporters.

As The Journey and Cross Sell Manager, you will:

• Build, design and deliver supporter journeys that engage audiences and encourage them to take actions, such as donating
• Work closely with colleagues in Marcomms and Fundraising to develop journeys tailored to donor types and audience segments
• Work closely with the Digital team to build journeys in Microsoft Dynamics
• Draft journey content plans and write journey content
• Maintain oversight of journeys and email across the charity, ensuring supporters receive communications that are timely, relevant and effective
• Monitor data briefs
• Track journey data and results, making recommendations to optimise their performance
• Oversee the schedule for refreshing journey content and briefing into the Content team 
• Write up key processes relating to journeys and cross sell and following project delivery processes

You are an experienced professional, passionate about developing supporter or customer journeys that build loyalty and engage and inspire people to take action. Experience of developing supporter or customer journeys, especially over email is essential, as is experience of using a CRM to build and send emails (Microsoft Dynamics desirable). You should also have strong communication and copywriting skills and experience of managing projects.

Background

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. We work in eleven areas/regions of the UK and will support 3000 children in 2023-24.

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme pairs struggling five to seven-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who are working professionals. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. The results are transformative, boosting children's reading confidence and ability.

From a school perspective, online reading volunteers provide direct, meaningful literacy support for up to 10 pupils per class. The programme is particularly suitable for communities where it might be challenging to find parents and other volunteers who can commit to physically visiting schools to boost reading.

Job Summary

Chapter One is seeking a West Cumbria Programme Manager who is an excellent communicator and is able to both motivate and support schools and teachers to implement our online reading volunteers programme, and also to ensure that the programme’s impact and benefit to disadvantaged communities is maximised throughout the academic year.

The post is ideal for someone looking for part-time, flexible, term-time only work from a home base and who is able to travel frequently around West Cumbria. The postholder will be joining a team of established Programme Managers (also part-time) who work in different parts of the UK and will need to have some flexibility to work additional hours during busy autumn months, and conversely to work fewer hours during quieter periods of the year.

Key Responsibilities:

• Effectively explain Chapter One’s online reading volunteer programme and its benefits to school leaders and teachers

• Install, setup and maintain Chapter One equipment in participating classrooms

• Fully understand the operation of the Chapter One platform and database and communicate this to others

• Organise and conduct initial teacher training and follow-up

• Ensure a smooth initial launch of Chapter One’s programme in every classroom

• Liaise with colleagues performing technical and volunteer support roles

• Through regular visits to/contact with schools, provide on-going embedded professional learning and support to teachers throughout the year as needed

• Proactively monitor classroom adherence/fidelity to the Chapter One model, including systematic review of data reports and volunteer feedback, taking proactive action to resolve problems that arise

• Analyse and manipulate data (largely in Google sheets) to produce reports and identify trends

• Create monthly data summaries for all participating classrooms

• Lead annual review meetings for senior leadership at participating schools

• Support programme monitoring, evaluation and research as required

• Coordinate in person and virtual school ‘visits’ of volunteer teams to classrooms where necessary

• Liaison with corporate partners as required

We are Laurelle Brown Training and Consultancy (LBTC), an independent consultancy founded in 2017, as a response to the persistent challenges and discrimination faced by racialised children across the services and support systems they rely on. We collaborate with partners to strengthen equity, diversity and inclusion across complex systems for children.

We are a dynamic and busy consultancy, with 5 staff members, and a pool of associate consultants and trainers that support the delivery of our work. The role

You will have successfully developed, implemented, and evaluated short and long-term training programmes in the children and young people sector; clearing obstacles to delivery; engaging diverse audiences, including senior leaders; co-facilitating; designing for impact and detail; managing trainers; and reflecting and applying learning for continuous improvement.

The role:

The Head of Programmes is a wide-ranging and key role within the Smallwood Trust’s leadership structure working closely with the CEO, the Grants Team and the Board.

Important priorities for the Head of Programmes will include:

Working closely with the CEO to implement and operationalise Smallwood’s refreshed grant-making strategy which is due to be approved by the end of 2024. This will include budgeting and implementing/designing new grant processes and procedures where appropriate.

Shape and deliver an evaluation framework that enables us to more effectively track progress against our longer-term outcomes as identified in our theory of change and gender-lens framework.

Instill a learning and continuous improvement culture across the organisation, to ensure that a coherent approach is taken with our grants programmes and our funding meets the needs of our Grant Partners.

The role requires an established leader who is adept at demonstrating internal and external leadership and is able to provide robust grant management, ensuring programme quality and assurance to the CEO, the Board and major external funders.

The role will have 7 direct reports. You will be comfortable in the detail and bigger picture and be able to provide support and encouragement to the Grants Team across Smallwood’s grant and programme cycles and to ensure that best practice and learning from our grant programmes is shared externally and adopted internally.

We are looking for a dynamic and creative Evidence Manager to join our Insight and Evidence team.

In this role, you will be playing an essential role in collating, analysing and communicating the evidence on a wide range of issues relevant to our communities.

We already know a huge amount about the priorities, needs and experiences of people who are deaf, have hearing loss or tinnitus. We now want to take this to the next level to inform our evidence-based approach to support our programmes, services and policy work. In this role you will be taking a lead on how we can both broaden and deepen our insight from the available evidence; we want to improve how we communicate and share this information to a wide range of stakeholders; and we want to get better clarity on where the gaps are that most urgently need addressing.

The role is an ideal opportunity for someone who is interested in a wide range of social issues and how they are experienced by and affect our communities. We take an inclusive approach to evidence – we recognise that much important insight is gathered and held in ‘grey literature’ generated by third sector organisations, for example, and value qualitative insights alongside quantitative approaches.

We are looking for someone who embraces this inclusive model and is also flexible and creative: there are novel and interesting approaches to evidence mapping and reviewing (including the use of AI tools, participatory approaches etc.). We are keen to explore how we can incorporate these into our ways of working – whether that be for improved efficiency and/or to bring our communities closer to our work.

You will be working closely with colleagues in the Insight and Policy team, as well as with others across our matrixed organisation to ensure that the organisation is insightful and evidence-led.

You will lead the development of a new approach to our evidence management, in line with our new Insight & Evidence strategy and identify and select the most appropriate methods for systematically mapping, reviewing, and synthesising the evidence on key issues relating to our communities.

You should have strong experience in evidence searching, mapping, reviewing and synthesis, in a social research context. With a solid understanding of both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. You should have a demonstrable ability to distil evidence into a range of formats suitable for diverse audiences.

The EDI Learning & Organisational Development Manager will play both a strategic and operational role in driving change through learning, leading as a member of the EDI team.

This position will lead the design, development and delivery of our strategic EDI learning program, supporting the needs of our whole workforce, including our volunteers. The successful candidate will develop close relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across the organisation, working collaboratively to support the transformation in behaviours and skills required to make the RSPB a more inclusive, diverse, and welcoming place for all.  You’ll be a leader in the EDI space, with opportunities for creativity, innovation and thinking differently to how we engage and embed learning on inclusion, in an accessible, inspiring way.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver a strategic EDI learning plan, to build the RSPB’s capability on a creating a more inclusive workplace culture.
• Align with L&OD team on creating consistency of learning approaches and key messages across the organisation’s learning offer.
• Build expert knowledge and skill within the organisation on EDI, prioritising any current programme key themes.
• Identify skills gaps and future learning requirements, keeping abreast of latest learning and development products and approaches. This would include a keen understanding and application of accessibility, neurodiversity and different learning needs, to support and upskill the EDI team and other colleagues.
• Curate, develop and design EDI learning content, including online, and assess relevant EDI learning and development options. Including workshops, action learning sets and peer support sessions.
• Working with EDI specialists to consider and incorporate a range of approaches and best practice to the EDI learning offers.
• Co-ordinate the logistics of training programmes and identify external training partners.
• Embed solid evaluation processes across learning interventions, analyse and provide reports on key recommendations and findings to stakeholders including programme board.
• Build relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally including within Environmental, Conservation and NGO partners – to network, share good practice and develop partnerships or learning opportunities.
• Support and develop the capability of any direct line reports around EDI Learning and Development.

Essential skills, knowledge and experience:

• Knowledge and experience of designing, developing and delivering high quality, engaging training programmes, workshops and educational resources. Ideally to a wide range of audiences in a workplace or post-16 setting.
• Experience of the full training lifecycle from needs analysis through to developing strategic approaches for meeting those needs.
• Excellent up-to-date knowledge and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion issues across a range of characteristics, including the Equality Act.
• An ability to build relationships with, and persuade and influence people at all levels, both internally and externally.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong IT user with a willingness to develop further skills.
• Experience with delivering training online and good practices around creating accessible online training or education resources.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to demonstrate leadership without line management.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and to all levels.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions.
• Experience in project management and budgeting.

Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:

• Teaching or training qualifications.
• Knowledge of barriers to marginalised or underrepresented people in conservation sectors.

AdviceUK makes a big impact. Its stakeholder, policy and advocacy work is across devolved nations as well as the UK. They support members, so it is easier for them to help their clients, and by directly influencing policy-makers, decision-makers and funders. There are currently 700 AdviceUK members and 1.7m people were offered free advice by members on a diverse range of issues including debt, housing, benefits and immigration problems.

This is an exciting time to join AdviceUK's growing team as they launch a new three-year strategy. The organisation will be making a significant investment in capacity, new support services and innovation to deliver the support and advice that members, the wider advice sector and their communities need.

The Head of Policy and Public Affairs will lead and have oversight of all policy and public affairs activities; developing the function; establishing policy positions; delivering evidence-driven campaigns and effective stakeholder engagement; to secure policy change and funding to benefit people seeking advice and the communities served by members.

Key responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement effective strategies for policy and funder influence, ensuring alignment with AdviceUK's strategic objectives. Provide ongoing strategic oversight of political and sector trends to inform decision-making.
• Policy Development and Advocacy: Lead the creation and coordination of clear policy positions, identify influencing goals, and overseeing responses to government consultations. Represent AdviceUK at external events.
• Public Affairs Management: Oversee a proactive public affairs strategy, build relationships with key government contacts, manage stakeholder engagement, ensure effective public affairs leadership, and amplify influencing work.
• Campaign and Media Leadership: Oversee the development of effective campaigns, mobilising support and leveraging media opportunities to raise awareness and drive action on priority issues for AdviceUK.
• Research and Evidence: Oversee research and analysis to support policy and campaign objectives, ensuring evidence-based insights inform advocacy efforts.
• Leadership and Management: Provide effective leadership to the Policy and Public Affairs Department as well as other staff, line managing the department, ensuring strong performance and supporting learning and development.
• Funding and Financial Management: Foster funder relationships to secure income for AdviceUK, manage departmental finances, and ensure efficient programme management of grant-funded initiatives.

The Head of Policy and Public Affairs will have at least 3 years' experience of working in a similar role and experience and/or an understanding of the social welfare advice sector, the issues faced by advice providers and the communities they serve. The successful candidate will have developed and delivered impactful policy and public affairs strategies that have led to demonstrable change either directly or by working in coalitions and partnerships. You will have experience of acting as a spokesperson including to the media, at events, to select committees and other government or funder-led working groups. You will be a strategic leader with the ability to build strong working relationships and manage and motivate a team. You will have strong analytical, organisational and prioritisation skills.

This role is home-based. You will need to attend meetings and events in London as part of the role and quarterly SMT meetings and all staff meetings with some travel across the UK and overnight stays. There may be out of hours work for which TOIL is granted.
