Business Manager

The role offers a unique opportunity to lead the business development and management of the Trust’s consultancy (Cumbria Wildlife Consulting (CWC)) and commercial plant nursery, ensuring they together provide a high-quality integrated service, meet financial targets, and align with the Trust's mission to protect and restore Cumbria’s natural environment, and inspire action.
Since 2023, the Trust has run a semi-commercial nursery at its Gosling Sike site near Carlisle, providing local provenance, peat-free plug plants for use in our projects, but also selling to partner organisations. The Trust has recently secured funding to expand its operation, increasing capacity and enabling more efficient production.
In addition to the above, the role will also build new, high-value strategic partnerships and business relationships with a focus on identifying and developing new business opportunities within the nature economy.
What we are looking for:
An individual who is enthusiastic and passionate about delivering nature’s recovery in Cumbria, but who is also business-minded with a proven track record of working in a commercial environment. They should possess the relevant skills, experience and confidence to grow new business ventures, taking them to the next stage. About the role
CTI is part of a housing-led response to ending homelessness. CTI is an evidence-based model, designed for times of transition for people who require support to navigate often fragmented systems. It uses a time limited case management approach to support people through a period of transition which works towards preventing and ending homelessness.
The model is strictly time limited and prescriptive in its application and Crisis’ CTI pilot will run close to the CTI principles. The timing of movement through the phases is defined by the Programme model.
CTI consists of four main phases:

About you
To be successful in this role you will have experience of delivering person centred support with statutory and non-statutory services within the criminal justice system, offering coaching and mentoring, learning support and/or personal development training, ideally working to matrix standards. You will also have an appreciation of delivering this within a time limited framework.
You will demonstrate knowledge of issues affecting homeless or vulnerably housed individuals which could include mental illness, addiction, the benefit system and housing. Being committed to empowering homeless and vulnerably housed individuals is essential to this role.

This is a newly created opportunity for an experienced fundraiser to lead the next phase of philanthropic growth for High School of Dundee and its Charitable Foundation.
The role sits within the school but works closely with the Foundation, which is a separate entity with its own Board of Trustees and lay members. All funds raised are received by the Foundation and distributed to support agreed priorities, most notably bursaries for talented young people from families who would otherwise be unable to afford school fees, as well as selected capital projects that improve the school’s infrastructure and facilities.

About the role

As Senior Business Intelligence Manager, you’ll be the strategic analytical lead for Philanthropy & Alumni Engagement. You’ll shape how we understand our fundraising pipeline, portfolio and performance; spotting trends, surfacing opportunities, and helping senior colleagues make smarter, faster decisions. Reporting to the Head of Prospect Development and Business Intelligence, you’ll lead the design and delivery of advanced analytical work, from predictive models to interactive Power BI dashboards used across the organisation to support strategic decisions.
We’re looking for someone who knows how to think with data, not just crunch it, bringing sound judgement, proportionality and clarity to every analysis.
You’ll provide BI leadership across the function, managing the Prospect Insight Manager and setting the standard for technical excellence across the team.

As a senior manager within the team, you will be an expert in data storytelling and visualization, providing the high-level insights necessary to drive decision-making and strategic growth. You will work closely with Prospect Research and Prospect Management colleagues, as well as fundraisers, both responding to strategic questions and proactively guiding them towards the insights that matter most. You will manage and develop the Prospect Insight Manager, ensuring technical excellence and the delivery of analytical products that support the department’s most ambitious goals.
This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
P&A has a hybrid working approach, with a minimum of 40% of time in the office. Typically, this equates to two days per week, but we’re very happy for colleagues to be in more frequently if they so wish.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Technical proficiency in SQL for data extraction and a formula language such as DAX for complex Power BI measures
2. Experience in data mining and predictive modelling (e.g., propensity scoring or likelihood analysis)
3. Ability to identify and interpret trends across pipeline, portfolio, pool, and performance to drive growth
4. Ability to create data visualisations that translate complex metrics into clear, compelling narratives for non‑technical audiences
5. A track record of taking broad business questions and designing the analytical projects needed to answer them
6. Experience managing and developing staff, ensuring high technical standards, sound judgement and effective delivery across analytical products
7. Ability to manage a varied BI workload, balancing long term strategic analysis with immediate insight needs across the department
Desirable criteria
1. Experience within a higher education or complex nonprofit fundraising environment
2. Knowledge of fundraising CRM such as Microsoft Dynamics
3. Experience conducting quarterly or annual reviews to evaluate long term strategic trends

To lead professional development and school improvement programmes facilitating the Voice 21 approach in our Voice 21 Oracy Schools by delivering our high impact learning experiences and materials for teachers and school leaders. To be part of the team, designing and reviewing programme content.

Your responsibilities
Quality programme delivery
Lead high quality professional development and school improvement programmes in our Pathway programmes and Open Learning for groups of teachers. These may be delivered in person, online or in school.
Deliver transformative consultancy support, working with teachers and school leaders to design and implement bespoke improvement plans for their oracy provision, including through in school and online consultancy support, and one-to-one advice.
Build credibility and purposeful relationships with programme participants, both at programme days and touchpoints, and on an on-going basis to drive impact in our schools.
Be responsible for participant learning and experience on your programmes, upholding high standards for all elements such as preparation, adapting to participant needs, content and rigour, on-going interactions and support, and participant feedback.
Learning content & programme development
Proactively share insights and learning from the programmes you deliver, proposing and shaping solutions to enable Voice 21 to continually improve its programme offer.
Apply and share expertise through varied outputs such as teaching materials, online learning content, resources, written or video outputs. Proactively identify and respond to opportunities or gaps and fulfil briefs or commissions.
Contribute to the continual improvement of Voice 21’s programmes, through development and review cycles, based on first-hand learning from our schools, content expertise, programme insights and external research and evidence.
Team and organisational contribution
Act as an ambassador for Voice 21’s national oracy expertise, communicating the value and impact of our approach at conferences, events and through publications.
Embody and communicate oracy teaching and learning expertise within the organisation, acting as a resource for the wider team and making contributions to organisational priorities, projects, campaigns and events, outputs and publications etc.
Continually and proactively develop your own and others’ expertise in Voice 21’s approach to a high quality oracy education, and use this to leverage impact for our schools through tangible learning outputs.

Your experience
You are an excellent teacher (primary or secondary)
You are passionate about teaching and learning, and the role of talk in learning. You have used talk to support learning in your classroom.
You have experience leading whole-school change and inspiring teachers to embrace new approaches and ideas.
You have a knowledge of a range of speaking and listening techniques and contexts for oracy, these could include: debate, dialogic teaching, storytelling, public speaking or communication and language development.
You are a strong communicator both when working in a small team and when facilitating learning for large groups of adults.
You are flexible, can think on your feet and can bring your own experiences to the work we do.
You are highly-organised, look for solutions and can prioritise and manage a varied workload.
You are enthusiastic, willing to learn and feel you would be energised by our mission. If you do not fully meet all the above criteria, but are happy to work towards developing into the role, we would be happy to consider your application.
You are willing to travel nationally on a frequent basis (3 days a week) during term time; this will include regular overnight stays.
