About us
Humane Society International/UK is the UK affiliate of one the largest animal protection organisations in the world, working for a better future for animals and people through advocacy, education, and hands-on programmes. HSI UK is a leading force for animal protection, we are an effective voice for animals large and small, with active campaigns in wildlife protection and ending the fur trade, alternatives to animal experiments, and reducing the number of animals suffering on farms. We also support HSI’s team of animal advocates around the world who work across a wide range of issues, including ending the dog meat trade, stopping culling of street dogs, tackling wildlife trade and providing animal rescue and emergency aid in disaster situations. A small but effective team, HSI UK has big ambitions to create further positive change for animals both here in the UK and around the world.

The Role
Gaining media, social media and celebrity support for our UK and international campaigns is a key way of raising awareness for our life-saving work. With an expanding portfolio of campaigns, we are seeking a talented individual to join our small London team in order to support our Director of International Media. 
This important role is pivotal to helping HSI/UK grow its media and celebrity profile in the UK. Working under our Director of International Media, you will liaise closely with our UK campaigns team and our US-based PR and social media team to achieve great media exposure for our work, regularly pitching stories and managing relationships with journalists.. You will promote our campaigns to celebrities in order to grow our list of VIP supporters in the UK and you will take a lead role in organising events and photoshoots. You will also manage HSI UK’s Facebook and Instagram pages. 

To be considered for this role, you will have strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to produce engaging content that reflects our tone of voice and key messages. Good interpersonal skills, and ability to tailor communications effectively for a range of audiences, will be essential in this collaborative role. You will have understanding of how to prepare and pitch a good story, and a portfolio of stories to demonstrate your abilities. You will have excellent organisational skills, and the experience and attention to detail needed for successful event planning and management. You will have a strong understanding of using social media and experience in managing accounts for a business or charity. An enthusiastic attitude and proactive approach are essential. You'll be a high-performer, with a demonstrable commitment to and basic knowledge of animal protection.
