Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We have embarked on our 10-year strategy for ending homelessness. We know it is not inevitable. We know together we can end it.
Help shape the future of ending homelessness. This is an exciting time to join our Philanthropy and Development team.
We are in the private phase of a £30m campaign to acquire 100 homes, providing stable housing for people experiencing some of the most severe forms of homelessness – with philanthropy providing the seed capital to demonstrate that a different approach to housing is possible. At the same time, we are delivering a bold ten-year strategy that aims to see the beginning of the end of homelessness by 2034.
High Value fundraising – including philanthropy - will play a central role in making our vision a reality, giving fundraisers the opportunity to build relationships with philanthropists to advance some of the most significant and ambitious areas of Crisis' work.
We've invested in the foundations that help fundraisers succeed, including strengthened prospect research, stewardship and supporter engagement functions, enabling relationship fundraisers to focus on developing and growing high-quality donor relationships. You'll join a supportive and ambitious team with clear priorities, strong leadership and a genuine commitment to collaboration, learning and development. For someone who enjoys building meaningful partnerships, working strategically and helping to shape the future of high-value fundraising at Crisis, this is a particularly exciting moment to come on board.
About the role
As Senior Philanthropy Manager, you will build and manage a portfolio of high-value supporters, securing five and six figure gifts that help drive lasting change for people experiencing homelessness. You will develop meaningful, personalised relationships with donors and prospects, creating bespoke opportunities for engagement and inspiring long-term support.
Working collaboratively across Crisis, you will identify new funding opportunities, build a strong prospect pipeline, and develop compelling proposals and engagement opportunities that connect donors to our ambitious vision. We are bold in seeking new opportunities, collaborative in how we work across teams, impactful in our approach to fundraising, and equitable in ensuring every supporter can play a meaningful role in helping end homelessness.
About you
- You're an experienced relationship fundraiser with a track record of securing significant gifts (at the five and six figure level) and managing high-value donor relationships.
- You enjoy building new connections and have experience of using moves management techniques to develop prospects into committed long-term supporters.
- You're strategic, organised and motivated by achieving results, with experience managing portfolios and fundraising targets.
- You're a skilled communicator who can build trust and credibility with a wide range of people.
- You are creative and able to think strategically, acting independently to develop excellent relationships with supporters and prospects.
- You enjoy working collaboratively and developing strong relationships across teams.
- You're inspired by Crisis' mission and excited by the opportunity to help deliver an ambitious vision to end homelessness.
Please see the full Job Pack linked below, for a full list of requirements for this role. We realise that long lists of criteria can be daunting, and you may not want to apply for a role unless you feel 100% qualified. We believe diversity is a strength, and our aim is to make sure that Crisis truly reflects the communities we serve. We are actively working towards our organisation being a place where everyone can thrive and make their best contribution to our mission of ending homelessness for good. We know that the more perspectives, voices, and experiences we can bring to this work, the better. We particularly welcome applications from people who have lived experience of homelessness, and people from all marginalised groups, communities, and backgrounds.
Working at Crisis
Our values, Bold, Impactful, Collaborative and Equitable, are at the heart of everything we do as we continue in our mission to end homelessness.
Our staff, members and volunteers are vital to getting the right government policies in place, providing breakthrough services, and building a supportive community. We’ll lead by example to nurture a positive and ambitious workplace guided by ending homelessness.
As a member of the team, you will have access to a wide range of employee benefits including:

We're looking for an exceptional content creator who understands the Ocean and knows how to make people care about it.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role with significant ownership. You will own content planning and community management across social media, web and newsletters. You'll be responsible for Ocean Generation's digital content and engagement, from deciding what stories we tell and how we tell them, through to creating, publishing, engaging with our community of 170,000+, analysing performance and improving what we do next.
We're a small, ambitious team on a mission to make Ocean Literacy accessible to millions of people. So, you'll need to be comfortable transforming Ocean science and educational programme outputs into compelling storytelling across social media, newsletters, and our website, taking the whole process from spotting an opportunity and developing the idea through to creating, publishing and owning the result.
We're particularly interested in people who already understand the Ocean or marine sector and have a proven track record of creating compelling social content.
You don't need to be a marine scientist, but you do need to understand the Ocean well enough to tell its stories accurately, ensuring Ocean Generation remains a trusted, empowering, and recognisable voice for Ocean Literacy.
About Ocean Generation
Ocean Generation is a UNESCO-endorsed Ocean education charity turning Science into Storytelling. We make Ocean Literacy accessible through film, pop-culture, and education programmes that empower practical action.
Most people grow up unaware that the Ocean is keeping us all alive: Ocean Generation exists to change that.
Established in 2009 by film producer Jo Ruxton MBE, our award-winning documentary ‘A Plastic Ocean’ was named by Sir David Attenborough as “one of the most important films of our time” and ignited mass public awareness about the impact of plastic pollution.
Today, we address a full range of human-made threats impacting the Ocean, with a particular focus on programmes for young people across the world.
Our Ocean Intelligence approach – how we translate complex Ocean science into engaging content through Science and Storytelling – has been endorsed by the Intergovernmental Oceanic Commission of UNESCO as a project under the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
- Our vision is a world where society understands, values, and acts for the Ocean.
- Our mission is to improve Ocean Literacy by translating complex science into engaging content, programmes, and practical actions.
The Role
This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will own content planning, creation, publishing, analytics, and community management across platforms – social, web and newsletter.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation & Community Management
- Set and own the content strategy, with accountability for content direction, performance, and day-to-day delivery within agreed organisational objectives.
- Create and distribute platform-native content across Instagram, TikTok, Threads, YouTube, LinkedIn, Facebook, and X; adapting stories, formats, and tone for different audiences and platforms.
- Leverage your storytelling skills to translate complex Ocean science and programme outputs into creative short-form video and static social content that educates and empowers our community.
- Identify opportunities for reactive, culturally relevant and trend-led content.
- Develop ideas independently and take them from concept to publication.
- Maintain Ocean Generation’s tone of voice, visual identity, and editorial standards.
- Manage community engagement for an audience of 170,000+, responding to comments and DMs with care, accuracy and positivity.
- Identify underperforming content and experiment with new formats, narratives and approaches.
- Nurture our global community of Ocean lovers and advocates by prompting conversation and engagement online.
- Own the editorial calendar, working with our Science and Ocean Literacy teams to ensure a cohesive content strategy across all platforms.
- Bring engagement and education programmes to life through case studies, visuals, and event coverage.
- Collaborate with team members to plan and execute website updates and article uploads.
Newsletter Creation & Management
- Write and design informative monthly newsletters using MailChimp.
- Collaborate with various team members to gather relevant content and ensure timely delivery to our subscribers.
- Analyse newsletter performance metrics to optimise engagement and increase readership.
Organisational Communications & Partnerships
- Support organisational communications and marketing for campaigns, events, partnerships, and Ocean Literacy programme activities through timely, creative digital content.
- Create promotional content for fundraising initiatives and partnerships.
- Coordinate occasional external support where needed (SEO, advertising, design agencies) to ensure brand consistency.
- Track and report on campaign performance, supporting learning and improvement.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Significant hands-on experience creating high-performing social content, particularly across Instagram, Threads, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn and newsletters.
- Strong existing knowledge of the Ocean and marine environment, with the ability to confidently engage with scientific and environmental topics.
- Excellent short-form video and carousel storytelling skills.
- Experience owning channels and content from strategy through to execution, scheduling, and analytics.
- Excellent written and visual storytelling skills in English, with an eye for detail and brand consistency.
- Ability to translate complex science into compelling, accessible stories.
- Experience using analytics to make content decisions.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines on a small team.
- Demonstrable examples of audience growth and engagement.
- Strong awareness of external digital trends and pop-culture with the ability to generate new ideas and bring them to fruition.
Desirable
- Experience within the marine/Ocean sector.
- Experience with Mailchimp.
- Experience using Canva, CapCut, or other relevant design tools.
- Basic website experience.
- Experience with campaigns, partnerships, or fundraising.
- Experience working with scientists and technical experts.
- Passion for environmental education and positive, solutions-focused storytelling.
Conditions
- Reports to: Co-Executive Director (Content & Engagement)
- Salary: £30,000–£32,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- Contract: 12-month fixed-term contract. As this is a new role, it is initially being offered on a fixed-term basis, with a strong likelihood of becoming permanent following review.
- Working Hours: This is a full-time role based on a 37.5-hour working week, worked across five days. We are committed to flexible working and operate core collaboration hours of 10am–4pm, Monday to Thursday. Outside of these core hours, employees have flexibility over when they work their remaining hours, subject to the needs of the organisation.
- Working Environment: Ocean Generation is a digital-first, home-based organisation, enabling us to maintain a geographically dispersed and diverse team while maximising our investment in our charitable aims. We value the benefits of occasional face-to-face collaboration for team wellbeing and effectiveness.
- Location: This is a remote role and candidates may be based anywhere in the UK. As there is no permanent office, you will work from home, although candidates located within reasonable travelling distance of London may be preferred due to occasional meetings. Proof of the right to work in the UK will be required.
- Travel: Occasional UK travel, including overnight stays, will be required. All reasonable travel and accommodation expenses incurred in carrying out your role will be reimbursed.
- Holiday: 25 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays.
- Pension: Ocean Generation operates a workplace pension scheme. Eligible employees will be automatically enrolled in accordance with statutory requirements.
Our Commitment to Inclusion
Ocean Generation is committed to being an inclusive and equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. If there is anything we can do to make the application or interview process more accessible, please let us know.
Please submit your CV along with links to your portfolio or examples of relevant past work. A cover letter is not required.
Your work examples will matter more than the content of your CV, so please make sure these links are included and accessible.
Shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a task as part of the application process. Interviews are expected to take place in the first or second week of September 2026.
We’re on a mission to empower 50 million young people to take Ocean action by 2030.

ID 1851 HR Business Partner, Human Resources (up to 2 vacancies)
Permanent contract
Family Action Head Office, London (N1) with hybrid working
37 hours per week (full-time)
£37,211 - £41,518 per annum
Plus £3,866 Inner London Weighting (if London-based) or £480 (if home-based)
We are flexible about both hours and where you work. The role is 37 hours per week full-time, but we welcome applications from people looking for part-time or other flexible working arrangements. We are also open to both office and home-based working; for colleagues based at our London office (N1), we operate a hybrid working model with an expectation of office attendance twice per week.
One of the roles will partner with our London-based services, so being based in or within commuting distance of London would be beneficial. However, we don’t want location to be a barrier and we welcome applications from people based elsewhere in the UK.
Family Action & the Role’s Impact:
At Family Action, we support people through change, challenge or crisis. It’s what we’ve done for over 150 years. We protect children, support young people and adults and offer direct, practical help to families and communities.
We see first-hand the power of family to shape lives, for better or worse, so we speak up for the importance of family in national and local policymaking, amplify family voices and represent the changing needs of families in the UK today.
In the HR Business Partner role, you will partner with leaders and managers across the organisation, building strong relationships and developing a deep understanding of the services and business areas you support. As their key HR contact, you will provide expert advice and coaching on complex people matters, help managers build their confidence and capability, and support them to plan strategically for their people and align their plans with the wider people strategy.
You will also manage, coach and develop a team of HR Advisers, supporting them to build their expertise and deliver a high-quality HR service.
Alongside this, you will lead on complex change processes, including TUPE transfers and restructures, working collaboratively across HR, Services, and Implementation teams to implement change effectively.
If you have significant HR experience, strong applied knowledge of employee relations and experience supporting complex organisational change, we would like to hear from you. You might come from a generalist HR background or have specialised in employee relations or change, and you don’t need to have worked in the not-for-profit sector or held a formal management role before. The ability to build trusted relationships, provide pragmatic and solution-focused advice, deliver through others and contribute to the continued development of our people practices will make you an ideal candidate.
We are a supportive and inclusive organisation, and we want to break down barriers to people joining us. If you don’t feel confident applying because you don’t meet every single requirement on the Person Specification – please don’t let that stop you; we want to hear from you. We encourage you to use the application to highlight what you can bring to the role – your skills, knowledge, and experience as well as your values. At Family Action our 4 core values are incredibly important to us and underpin all we do. We are a 'people focused', 'can-do' organisation, which strives for 'excellence' in all we do and operates with 'mutual respect'.
Benefits:

- flexible working arrangements and new starters have the right to make flexible working requests from day one of employment
- enhanced paid sick leave and paid family leave provisions

We are committed to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion in all that we do and welcome applications from all sections of the community. Intersectionality is important to us and we particularly welcome applications from ethnically diverse communities, LGBTQIA+ candidates and disabled candidates because we are committed to increasing the representation of these groups at Family Action. We know that greater diversity will lead to even greater results for families and children and strive for our workforce to be truly representative of the diverse communities we support.
All candidates with a disability are welcome to apply under the Disability Confident Scheme and request priority consideration for an interview, provided they meet the essential criteria for the role.
To help remove financial barriers to working with us, we will reimburse reasonable travel costs if you are invited to attend an interview in person.

Please note that we will be reviewing applications as they come in. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if a suitable candidate is found, so we encourage you to submit your application without delay. We are also ideally looking for a candidate who can join us as soon as possible (i.e. on a short notice period), however if that is not your situation please do not hesitate to apply as applications will not be assessed on this basis.

The opportunity:
This is a senior role with responsibility for the strategic direction, quality and impact of We Belong’s youth development portfolio. Reporting to the CEO and working as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will lead programmes spanning early intervention, educational attainment, further and higher education, employability, skills development, youth leadership and progression into positive opportunities.
You will oversee the Let Us Learn Programme, Emerging Young Leaders Programme, Schools Excellence Programme and Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Bronze programme. You will also strengthen young people’s influence within We Belong through the Core Group, ensuring that lived experience informs organisational priorities and programme development.
The Context:
Following the landmark Supreme Court judgment in the Tigere case, which helped secure fairer access to higher education for young migrants, We Belong has continued working to ensure that young people can progress into higher education. This has included successful campaigning to increase scholarship opportunities and building strong relationships with educational institutions across the UK.
However, more work is needed. Young migrants can experience significant barriers to educational attainment, further and higher education, employment and personal development because of their immigration status.
These barriers can arise long before a young person reaches the point of applying to university, beginning an apprenticeship or entering employment. We recognise that university is not the only pathway to success and that young people should be supported to explore a range of routes that reflect their ambitions, strengths and circumstances.
Early intervention is therefore essential to ensure that young migrants understand their rights, receive accurate information and appropriate support, and are able to make informed decisions about their education, training, employment and future.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about working with young people, supporting their development and creating pathways for them to achieve their ambitions.
If successful, the applicant will be joining an award-winning youth charity and a staff team dedicated to improving outcomes for young migrants between the ages of 16-25 years old and empowering young people to create change.
Please submit your application by sending your CV and a cover letter explaining how your experience and background make you suitable for this role. Applications submitted without both a CV and a cover letter will not be considered.
