A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an Individual Giving Manager to join the Fundraising team at SSAFA, the Armed Forces charity, for 12 months. This role is critical for the success of our income generation activities and acquisition of new supporters.
We are looking for a target driven team player who will skilfully and tactfully manage a variety of stakeholder relationships, including our face-to-face agency partners and volunteers. This is an exciting time to join the team as we look to build on successful growth of existing supporter acquisition initiatives.
About the team
This role sits within the Fundraising, Marketing & Communications team. Reporting to the Head of Supporter Engagement, you will also work collaboratively with the Individual Giving Manager – Donor Development, Individual Giving Officer, Supporter Care Co-ordinator, and the Events team. You will also work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including our Branch Network and Regional Hubs to connect with new supporters across the UK and maximise opportunities.
About you
To carry out this role successfully you will have a track record of:
- Experience of developing and running successful individual giving programmes to recruit new donors.
- Experience of managing external relationships at all levels, for example with suppliers, agencies, including effective negotiation on costs and contracts.
- Experience of managing face-to-face fundraising programme.
- Experience of lottery fundraising.
- Experience of working with a supporter database.
- Numerical skills and ability to use Excel and/or PowerBI for tracking, reporting and analysis.

About the Role
In your role you will be responsible for developing, delivering and overseeing RSPB’s wider countryside conservation work and managing associated staff on the islands to ensure conservation of the many species and habitats of international importance and so ensure delivery of relevant outcomes of RSPB’s Saving Nature Strategy across Orkney. The role will lead, manage and develop the conservation team in the area, helping to deliver a work programme focused on our priority landscapes including some of Scotland’s rarest and most iconic species and habitats.
This will be achieved by using detailed knowledge and experience of the appropriate conservation toolkit to ensure we achieve our objectives. This may include site safeguard casework, species recovery work, land management advice, overseeing conservation projects and engagement in land use and marine policy.
This post will have a key role in instigating and managing programmes and projects across the Area and in association with RSPB colleagues. This includes those led by RSPB in the local area such as Species on the Edge and those where delivery is achieved across wider partnerships. You will be proactive with other island stakeholders to deliver ambitious targets for key marine, upland, wetland, peatland & farmland species and habitats. The position will have an important external role, building positive relationships with key partners and stakeholders so that RSPB’s policies and messages are understood and furthered within relevant partnerships and fora. As the conservation leader within the area team, you will contribute expertise to the Area management structures, monitoring and reporting on the work plan and development of new work plans and/or project ideas. You will also be expected to contribute expertise and experience to RSPB’s policy and advocacy work and contribute to the delivery of our funding and communications objectives, through communicating our conservation messages in various ways.
You will ensure we can identify threats to priority species and habitats and work with internal staff and external stakeholders to develop and implement projects, strategies and programmes of work to address these threats. You will lead on casework response in the islands and manage projects and internal budgets and staff. You will help shape where we carry out species recovery work across the islands and help spot out future opportunities to work on our key species and habitats. You will help shape and deliver the Orkney Local biodiversity action plan in partnership with stakeholders. You will liaise with our research, planning and policy colleagues to conserve our island wildlife

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care is an independent charity committed to improving the quality of life for people living with cancer, their carers, family, and friends.
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Cancer Information Specialist Nurse, and are seeking an experienced, flexible, and dynamic NMC registered nurse to join our team.
At Cherry Lodge, we work alongside the clinical care of the NHS in an area centred on Barnet and covering much of North London and South Hertfordshire. We are based at the very friendly and welcoming Cherry Lodge Centre, in Union Street, Chipping Barnet. We also have an Outreach Service with an impact across the borough of Barnet, concentrating particularly on providing information and support to members of black and minority ethnic groups. Our Befriending Service provides additional support for people in their own homes.
Job Purpose:
To act as a specialist information resource for the management of people with cancer, their carers, and families.
To co-ordinate, manage and develop the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care (CLCC) information service by providing assessment, information, support and signposting to people visiting and telephoning the centre. Oversight of interventions and therapies delivered, ensuring the person with cancer/carer/family experience of support feels seamless and is transparent.
To work proactively with primary and secondary care and voluntary sector partners to promote Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and build awareness of the support available for people living with and beyond cancer. This will include further developing relationships with local cancer care providers including the North London Hospice and North Central London Cancer Alliance.
Contribute to the coordination of the day-to-day running of therapy and complementary therapies delivered at CLCC, including mentoring of junior staff and volunteers as necessary. Working in close partnership with the Volunteer Co-ordinator and Befriending Service Lead.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Information/Service Provision
To ensure people with cancer their carers and families/friends gain access to the information they require by providing the following services:
1. To provide one to one sessions where assessment and planning ensures people are able to discuss all information aspects of their illness (symptom management, treatment, and living with cancer).
2. Provide support, access to therapies and signposting to other local services and support services.
3. Provide appropriate psychological support throughout the cancer diagnosis, treatment and follow up pathway, as appropriate and identified by the person with cancer.
4. Facilitate and support nurse/therapy led groups
5. Act as the person with cancer’s advocate, particularly where informed discussion may affect care management options, by ensuring robust links with secondary care Clinical Specialist Nurses.
6. Deliver support, information, and education to promote self-care following a diagnosis, and reduce risks of future complications. Actively encourage a Health & Wellbeing, enabling approach.
7. Work closely with the Cancer Information Specialist Nurse (Outreach).
8. To maintain a comprehensive, accurate and up to date information resource, including a database of information about local and national services.
9. Maintain professional links and liaise with other units/centres to ensure continuity of care and support for patients throughout their care pathway.
10. To use communication skills and empathy to impart information at all levels. To work with the Operations Manager to audit the service on a regular basis ensuring that feedback from users of the service is used to develop services further.
11. Support and participate in service review and ongoing development of nurse/therapy led services.
12. Ensure clear and concise records are documented ensuring effective communication observing NMC guidance for records and records keeping.
13. To provide information by telephone and respond to written requests for information.
Managerial and Leadership responsibilities
1. Act as a role model demonstrating high standards of care and providing leadership to all staff in the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care team.
2. Responsibly manage resources utilised within the role.
3. To publicise the facilities and activities of CLCC within the local provider trusts and in the wider community.
4. To ensure all activity delivered at CLCC is recorded on the database and provide regular updates to the Operations Manager and Trustees, helping to identify where there is unmet need in order that new services can be developed/commissioned.
5. To develop policies and procedures to assure the quality of information giving and support, including monitoring and evaluation systems that meet the highest standards, and is in line with activity across the North Central London Cancer Alliance.
6. To contribute to the Charity’s annual and strategic plans by working with the Operational Manager and Trustees to provide data & narrative that will assist in planning future service developments.

2. To contribute to CLCC’s education programme by organising talks, seminars and workshops relating to cancer information and support.

ROLE PURPOSE
This position involves identifying and prioritising potential donors capable of making significant contributions to help us deliver a range of projects aimed at enhancing the student experience and supporting the local community. Do you want to be part of a team leading the field in the development of private investment into nature’s recovery?
In the past 18 months, The Trusts have been developing new approaches to funding nature’s recovery from the private sector, utilising novel revenue approaches such as nutrient neutrality credits and the voluntary carbon market amongst others. They have developed finance mechanisms to sit alongside these revenue streams such as a philanthropic loan system. They now want to scale up this work to help The Trusts and others to scale nature’s recovery across Wales. They need to turn policy into strong principles that allows us to develop guidelines and templates to help the Trusts across Wales access green finance.
Our client need dedicated expertise and capacity to work with the Trusts to bring this work into a coherent strategy, develop models and plans that build revenues for nature’s recovery allowing much greater investment. This post is designed to provide that expertise and capacity to work alongside those Trust staff that are already committed to developing these programmes.

- Identify and secure new funding opportunities with clients, creating tailored proposals to appeal to funder appetite and needs.
- Oversee and contribute to external communications and marketing campaigns.
- Oversee the business development pipeline, ensuring its effectiveness and alignment with our strategic goals.
- Deliver high-quality bid proposals and pitch documents to support business growth.
- Develop and implement client management and engagement strategies, including our philanthropic networks, enhancing operational relationships and value.
- Grow new strategic partnerships with civil society and local community groups and identify their funding requirements, ensuring optimum communication with those grass roots groups.
- Analyse and present HubSpot data to inform strategic decisions and refine our offering.
- Manage budgeting processes and prepare essential documentation for pitches and contracts.
- Be an ambassador for the Social Change Nest, representing the business at industry conferences, events and workshops and grow strategic partnerships.
- Champion the maintenance and improvement of our CRM system, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- 4-5 years in a business development, sales or client facing role.
- Proven business development expertise with a track record of winning new business and able to apply these skills to enhance our business development strategies.
- Able to use your knowledge and skills to identify and seize opportunities for growth through partnerships, projects and clients.
- A solid understanding of the philanthropic and grant-making sectors in order to enrich our strategies and client interactions.
- Numerate and adept at analysing data to derive insights that guide business planning and strategy.
- Outstanding customer service skills, both proactive and reactive. Your reliability, trustworthiness, and ability to respond to our clients’ needs set you apart.
- Excellent pitch and bid-writing skills with an ability to craft compelling proposals that resonate with our target audience, including design and pricing.
- Capable of anticipating and evaluating the potential risks and returns of projects and able to assess risk as part of the process.
- Experience of managing complex work strands and coordinating across different teams demonstrating your leadership skills and strategic awareness.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a confident communicator. You excel in bringing people together to achieve shared objectives.
