We’re looking for a Stories and Content Officer to join our team

Salary: Circa £32,000

Base: Central Edinburgh/hybrid

Hours: Full time and permanent.  35 hours a week over core working hours of 10am - 3pm, Monday to Friday, with a one-hour lunch break. The office is open 8am - 7pm daily and our hybrid working policy requires all full-time employees to work at least two days a week in the Edinburgh office. Working hours can be adapted for the right candidate.

We are looking for a successful Philanthropy & Fundraising Manager with a proven track record in face-to-face major donor fundraising, or an individual with outstanding transferable skills and experience of working within the charity sector. The individual must thrive on building trusted relationships and be confident in securing significant philanthropic gifts by successfully securing complex, high-value partnerships over the line.

Management Supervision and Guidance

You will be responsible to the CEO for your daily tasks and duties, and ELT in any other matters.

Purpose
The Philanthropy Manager will create and drive The Hunslet Club’s fundraising strategy by cultivating and securing significant philanthropic support a new capital project to expand opportunities for young people across South Leeds. This role is central to building meaningful, long-term relationships with individual donors, trusts, foundations and partners, translating their passion for youth development into transformational investments that strengthen programmes, increase participation and create sustainable impact. The successful candidate will combine strategic vision with confident stewardship, ensuring that funding growth aligns with The Hunslet Club’s mission to help young people achieve their full potential.

Duties and responsibilities

The Philanthropy & Fundraising Manager will work on a full-time basis, or part-time on a pro-rata basis. The primary responsibility of the role is to secure £700,000 and above in philanthropic income over a 18 month period. This will be achieved through identifying, researching and cultivating individual donors, corporate supporters, trusts, foundations and strategic partners, using research tools and publicly available information to build and manage a strong portfolio of prospects, particularly those with an interest in supporting young people and communities.

To be successful, the postholder will develop an excellent understanding of The Hunslet Club, its mission and its inspirational youth and community work, and will help to develop and articulate a compelling case for support. The role will involve achieving a clearly defined set of Key Performance Indicators, providing high-quality stewardship to maximise donor retention, and maintaining, developing and leveraging existing relationships with current supporters. The postholder will work closely with colleagues across the organisation, including Executive/Senior Leadership and Trustees, to ensure effective involvement in fundraising activity where appropriate.

The successful candidate will organise suitable events and cultivation opportunities to build long-term relationships with potential supporters. Attendance at events, meetings and conferences will be required, with support from Executive/Senior Leadership and Trustees.

The successful candidate will also be expected to volunteer at a minimum of three cross-club community events per year and to carry out other reasonable duties as requested by the Executive Leadership Team.

The Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager will play a key role in driving income growth through philanthropy and strategic partnerships across Northern Ireland. Reporting to the Northern Ireland Director, with a dotted line to the UK Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, this role will contribute to the delivery of an ambitious growth strategy. The post-holder will build and steward relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and philanthropic organisations to ensure alignment with national and regional objectives, and will lead the development of high-quality fundraising, cultivation and stewardship events that deepen engagement, grow income and strengthen long-term supporter relationships. They will also lead and support their direct report, ensuring a collaborative, high-performing fundraising team.

Joining a specialised team at a time of growth, the Expeditions Officer will deploy first-hand exploratory field research experience in providing practical support for practitioners, helping reinforce the Society’s role as an international leader and convening power representing diverse forms of geographical exploration.

This operational role is central to evolving the Society's technical resources, strategic programmes, and flagship events, ensuring our support for both our grant recipients and the wider community of practitioners remains rigorous and impactful.

Key Responsibilities

Expedition advisory support

Participate in the provision of advice and support to Society grant recipients and other expedition teams and individuals across their project lifecycles.

Training, events and content

Work with colleagues and external trainers to develop and organise needs-based training opportunities, primarily for Society grant recipients and other supported individuals and teams, across a range of subjects.

Support the development of multimedia resources to support Society members and the wider community of field practitioners in undertaking safe, ethical, impactful expeditions.

Governance and reporting

Contribute data and updates for the bi-annual reporting to the Expeditions & Fieldwork Committee and quarterly workplan reporting to management and trustees.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience leading successful exploratory field projects, preferably through overseas, collaborative, impact-driven ventures in remote and challenging contexts.

The successful candidate will apply both academic knowledge and a practical understanding of safe, ethical and impactful field research, significantly expanding the Society’s capacity to support diverse forms of geographical exploration.

This is a permanent, full-time post subject to successful completion of a probationary period of three months. The salary range for this post is £35,897–£39,180 per annum depending on experience and qualifications. The post is based in Kensington, London.

About the role 

At the Motability Foundation, we fund, support, research and innovate so that all disabled people can make the journeys they choose. 

We’re building a Transport Solutions Team that can work flexibly across all the tools in our delivery kit – from grants and innovation pilots to research, partnerships, and commercial interventions. This includes a growing portfolio of projects tackling key challenges like inclusive EV charging, complex community transport funding opportunities, and large-scale research such as the National Centre for Accessible Transport. 

We are now recruiting four Transport Solutions Managers to help design and deliver high-impact work across this portfolio. These are pivotal roles that combine subject expertise, delivery capability, and leadership and are designed to work flexibly across our matrix structure. 

Some roles will focus more on funding: exploring new funding mechanisms and managing end-to-end development and delivery of funding opportunities and a team of grant managers. Others will focus more on direct delivery: leading projects, partnerships or research commissions. But all Transport Solutions Managers will be encouraged to develop and contribute across both areas. 

We’re looking for people who bring either or both of these skillsets to the role and who are keen to grow their expertise across the range of tools we use. Whether your background is in grant-making, innovation, systems thinking, or programme delivery, we want to hear from you. 

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative, purpose-led team driving change in the transport system for disabled people and to work on some of the most interesting and impactful projects in the sector. 

What you’ll be doing 

• Lead the design and delivery of impactful projects or funding opportunities, working closely with Programme Directors and colleagues across the Transport Solutions Team. 

• Manage end-to-end delivery of specific initiatives – this could include grants, pilots, commissioned projects, partnerships or other tools – ensuring they are well scoped and aligned to our strategic priorities. 

• Use insight, evidence, and stakeholder engagement to shape the approach to new work, including scoping documents, funding criteria, business cases, and delivery plans. 

• Work flexibly across our matrix team, contributing to projects or funding rounds outside your own portfolio as needed, and supporting colleagues with specialist input or delivery resource. 

• Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including charities, researchers, delivery partners and commercial organisations. 

• Manage delivery, budgets, due diligence, risks and outcomes for projects or funding opportunities, ensuring appropriate governance and reporting is in place. 

• Collaborate across teams including Impact & Evaluation, Finance, and Communications to ensure high-quality delivery, learning and visibility of our work. 

• Bring and apply knowledge in key areas such as accessible transport, disability, inclusive innovation, grant-making or systems change. 

• Support the development and continuous improvement of our delivery models, funding mechanisms and ways of working. 

Your experience 

Must haves:  

• Experience managing projects or funding opportunities from inception through to delivery, including planning, delivery, and monitoring, ideally across teams and with external partners or suppliers. 

• Ability to scope and deliver initiatives or funding opportunities using evidence, insight, and engagement with disabled people and other key stakeholders. 

• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple, complex workstreams to deadlines in a fast-paced and evolving environment. 

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across diverse stakeholder groups. 

• Strong data and analysis skills, including the ability to synthesise qualitative and quantitative insight to inform decision-making and strategy. 

• High IT literacy, including confident use of Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint). 

• A collaborative and flexible working style, with experience contributing to cross-team initiatives or matrix working. 

Nice to haves: 

• Understanding of disability and transport issues, such as the social model of disability, transport barriers, key legislation etc. 

• Experience delivering or managing grant programmes, innovation pilots, research projects, or cross-sector partnerships. 

• Familiarity with innovation or funding mechanisms such as challenge prizes, agile funding rounds, co-design, systems mapping, or commissioning frameworks. 

• Experience of working in or alongside government, industry, or the not-for-profit sector. 

• Experience supporting or line managing others in a team or project context.

As the Impact and Fundraising Manager, you will work hands on with our delivery team to design data collection systems that feel manageable and purposeful, not burdensome. You understand that different people think, process, and work in different ways, so you will create multiple methods for collecting the same data to suit different styles.

You take a methodical approach to understanding what data we need to showcase impact, then build the frameworks and provide the practical support to make collection happen across multiple methods. You empower the team to grow their confidence in impact measurement through training, clear guidance, and being there alongside them.

You will translate the data we collect into compelling, heartfelt stories that position The Mason Foundation as best practice. You will engage with traditional media and sector publications to showcase our work and support the COO with fundraising by providing the impact evidence that inspires funders and commissioners to collaborate with us.

What We're Looking For

• Methodical approach to collecting data across multiple different methods, understanding what needs to be collected to showcase impact without being burdensome

• Hands on experience supporting frontline teams with data and impact collection, building their confidence and skills

• Ability to design multiple ways of collecting a uniform dataset, recognizing different thinking, processing, and working styles

• Strong storyteller who can make data heartfelt and human whilst maintaining evidence-based rigour

• Experience with traditional media engagement (press releases, media relations) and writing for sector publications

• Understanding of neuroinclusion, community development, or social impact landscapes

• Experience working with CRM systems and ability to lead exploration of accessible data tools

• Empathetic, supportive, highly organised, and self-motivated with ability to work part time hours efficiently in a remote environment

ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Data Protection Compliance Officer to join our central compliance team.

You will play a key role in supporting the Federation’s Data Protection Officer and the wider Central Data Protection Team. You will help ensure the organisation operates in full compliance with legal regulations, government guidelines, and best practice—making a real contribution to safeguarding data across the Federation.

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

In this role, you will:

• Raise data protection awareness across the Federation
• Deliver, design and coordinate focused data protection awareness training, including analysing training needs
• Manage data incidents, ensuring swift containment, thorough severity analysis and accurate reporting
• Prepare targeted data protection communications for Data Champions
• Compile Data Protection Impact Assessments and Data Sharing Agreements
• Liaise with the Supply Management Team to conduct data protection due diligence on new third-party suppliers
• Monitor completion and maintain accurate records of Federation-wide “All Staff Data Protection Awareness Training"
• Capture and report data protection risks and related mitigating actions, as directed
• Carry out data protection monitoring and reviews across the Federation’s academies
• Maintain data protection compliance records
• Provide advice and guidance on data protection enquiries to academies and Head Office staff
• Support the Data Protection Compliance Manager and Data Protection Officer on Federation-wide initiatives and projects
• Coordinate the review and quality assurance of Federation policies and key documents—sending calling notices, liaising with relevant teams, and drafting policy update communications
• Coordinate a comprehensive suite of general compliance training for Head Office and academies
• Assist the Data Protection Officer with the management of Federation risk.
• Support the creation of the Main Trust Data Protection Board report & other compliance documentation
• Provide advice and guidance on general compliance enquiries to academies and Shared Services staff

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We would like to hear from you if you have:

• A graduate-level education (or relevant experience/qualifications in lieu of a degree)
• A good working knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications
• Working knowledge of the UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and the Data Use & Access Act 2025, including practical implementation
• Previous experience in education management, compliance, or data protection.
• Project management experience
• Experience working in a professional, high-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent interpersonal abilities
• Excellent administrative skills and exceptional attention to detail, including proofreading
