Based in the Loyalty Team, this Direct Marketing Manager role will be responsible for stewarding donors by delivering excellent supporter experiences on a mass level across a number of channels. Working with a range of stakeholders, you'll bring project management skills, data fluency and a strategic mindset to design journeys which deepen Age UK's relationships with our charity audiences, growing income across cash, regular giving and in memory support.
We operate a hybrid-working model, a blend of home and office working. This role will include regular days working from our London office (EC3N 2LB) - currently once a week on a Thursday and may involve occasional travel, including some overnight stays. Travel costs to the London office are the responsibility of the postholder and are not covered by the charity.

About the role

Responsibilities and Person Specification:
The Senior Individual Giving Officer will play a pivotal role in driving unrestricted income growth from individual supporters at Independent Age. Working closely with the Individual Giving Manager, you will lead on the planning and delivery of supporter acquisition, retention and stewardship activity. You’ll take ownership of key projects and manage multi-channel campaigns and donor journeys that deepen engagement, reduce attrition, and maximise lifetime value. From heartfelt appeals to personalised touchpoints, you’ll ensure every supporter feels valued and connected to our mission.
You will bring experience in managing the planning, budget, set-up, delivery and reporting and analysis of integrated multi-channel digital, direct and offline campaigns and activities that meet and exceed KPI’s. Digital expertise and experience working in a test and learn environment are also key. You’ll have an agile mindset, with the ability to work both proactively and reactively depending on changing priorities. You must have a passion for, and affinity with, Independent Age’s cause.
This is a hands-on role with plenty of potential to design and input your own approaches, activities and stewardship to achieve income growth and bring to life the varied work of Independent Age, inspiring supporter loyalty and long-term support.

You’ll also work closely with our partner organisations, developing joint marketing plans that effectively promote exclusive and discounted benefits for BVA members.
You'll be bringing a strategic mindset as well as strong practical skills - from writing engaging content, overseeing multimedia production, and optimising email campaigns, to interpreting data in GA4 to improve performance. You should be confident working across various CMS platforms and multiple channels, with an eye for accessible, user-focused design and messaging.

Main purpose of the job

To support a range of activity that helps raise the profile of the Royal Star & Garter group with a focus on Care for Veterans.

To provide design services for inhouse creative projects, including the development of on and offline materials to support marketing and fundraising activity.

Coordinating the development of the Care for Veterans website, bringing content into line with Royal Star & Garter and helping prepare for a longer term integration.

Effective support for a range of Care for Veterans fundraising events to include digital marketing and attending in person.

Knowledge and experience:

Experience of working in a busy marketing environment with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage a varied workload delivering projects to a high standard.

A sound knowledge and understanding of digital marketing.

Good knowledge of relevant marketing and charitable legislation and guidelines.
Skills:

Excellent communication and listening skills across a wide range of audiences.
