*This role sits within a pay grade with a pay range of £25,813 to £33,052, The salary on appointment will be set at the lower end of the pay range at £25,813, depending on the candidate's skills and experience. This approach aims to ensure fair compensation for new hires while maintaining alignment with the structured pay scale for the role.

Context and purpose of role

The Finance Apprentice will play a crucial role in supporting the Finance team to deliver our strategy. The Apprentice will undertake a structured Level 3 Assistant Accountant training programme, combining work-based learning with academic study to develop practical accounting, financial and administrative skills.

During the apprenticeship, the Finance Apprentice will gain experience across key finance activities, including purchase and sales ledger processing, financial administration, and supporting core accounting processes such as reconciliations and reporting.

This role offers a strong foundation for a career in finance, providing exposure to financial operations as well as insight into financial accounting and business partnering in a supportive and friendly team environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with purchase and sales ledger processes

About the role

We are seeking a Branch Finance Manager to provide financial oversight, compliance support and business services across our national branch network and National Support Centre.

You will play a key role in ensuring strong financial control, accurate reporting and consistent compliance across branches, working closely with staff and volunteers to strengthen financial governance and operational effectiveness.

IPSEA is a national charity working to ensure that children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) receive the educational support they are legally entitled to. We are seeking a Head of Finance and Resources to provide strategic leadership and operational management across IPSEA’s finance, HR and Fundraising functions, ensuring the charity has robust financial management, effective systems, and sustainable infrastructure to deliver its mission. You have strong organisational and analytical skills and can analyse financial information and translate it for non-financial stakeholders. Experience improving systems, processes or digital infrastructure would be preferred but is not essential.

It would be desirable if you had experience overseeing HR, fundraising or wider operational functions, or managing multi-disciplinary teams.

• Manage project development and initiation, including contracting, the development of detailed project plans, including go/no-go milestones, and budgets
• Manage and oversee project delivery, including monitoring of progress, according to agreed timelines and deliverables (including written updates and formal reports), and managing project finances, including reviewing and approval of invoices and monitoring project expenditure

Support the Director of Research and Development on the following external engagement activities

• Development and implementation of outreach and engagement activities in the DMD patient and research community to inform areas for research focus and prioritisation
• Scoping and development of formal and informal strategic partnerships and relationships with key stakeholder organisations (e.g. membership societies, other charities, consortia etc)

Support delivery of DUK flagship strategic programmes

DUK has strategic programmes in clinical research access and capacity, care standards and care access, assistive technologies and patient data. Under the oversight of the Director of Research and Development and working closely with the relevant programme team:

• Coordinate key programme updates and discussions between the DUK team and the programme teams
• Working with DUK comms team, support the development of external comms and marketing
• Working with the Director of Research and Development and the programme teams, support development of new initiatives and external funding opportunities

Other key responsibilities

• Provide general research admin support (e.g. arrange research meetings, both internal and external, prepare agendas and take minutes)
• Work with DUK comms team to identify case studies and success stories and support the development of the research comms strategy
• Coordinate research comms and work with the Director of Research and Development and comms team to ensure all research content is accurate and appropriate
• Work with the income generation and comms teams to provide updates to our key co-funding partners
• Support the collection of portfolio data across all programmes for DUK KPIs and to support DUK impact report development
• Coordinate and deliver research led events and support the Director of Research and Development in the agenda and content development for the annual Duchenne UK New Horizons conference
• Travel across the UK to attend meetings with partners

Job description

DMI is looking for a motivated Finance Manager to join our friendly team in London. Working closely with the Head of Finance and the finance team in the UK, and liaising with relevant staff in DMI’s international offices, the successful candidate will play an important part in ensuring that DMI’s finances are managed effectively and in line with internal policies and statutory requirements.

More specifically, the Finance Manager will have the following responsibilities:

Key responsibilities

1. Supporting the Head of Finance in ensuring that DMI complies with relevant financial legislation and regulatory requirements in the UK and internationally. This includes supporting the year-end financial reporting and audit processes across the DMI group, together with payroll, VAT and other statutory reporting requirements where relevant.
2. Leading on improving and transforming finance processes and systems across DMI. This includes identifying opportunities to automate workflows, improve reporting, strengthen controls and increase efficiency using digital tools, AI and other technologies where appropriate.
3. Developing and maintaining financial models, reports and tools in Excel to support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and organisational decision-making.
4. Preparing and consolidating project and HQ budgets, cash flow forecasts, management accounts and other financial reports to support operational and strategic decision-making.
5. Working closely with colleagues in DMI’s international offices to review monthly financial performance, strengthen financial processes and support planning for future periods.
6. Supporting donor financial reporting and ensuring expenditure is incurred and reported in line with donor requirements and organisational policies.
7. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation to improve understanding of financial management, systems and controls, including supporting and mentoring staff with both financial and non-financial backgrounds.
8. Supporting wider organisational priorities and carrying out other duties as reasonably required by DMI.

Person specification

Required knowledge, skills and experience

1. Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CA or equivalent) with relevant post-qualification experience.
2. Strong Excel and systems skills, including experience using financial management systems (DMI currently uses QuickBooks).
3. Experience preparing and managing budgets, forecasts and financial reports.
4. Experience improving finance processes, streamlining workflows or strengthening financial controls.
5. Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver work accurately.

The Role

In this role, you will support the Director of Finance in providing a proactive, efficient, and highly effective finance service across the Diocesan board of finance and trust custodian company, as well as supporting the larger finance team who look after the Board of Education.

The role will include taking ownership of the budget and forecast for Board, running the month-end and reporting process and interacting with Heads of Department and key Diocese clergy in helping to run their day-to-day operations.  The role will also take the lead in managing the tax and statutory reporting, and appropriate training assistance will be made available as required.

You will play a key role within a Finance department totalling 9 staff.  The team have been through a time of change, including the introduction of a system 3 years ago that still requires some input to ensure it is being maximised in usefulness.
