School of Hard Knocks (SOHK) is one of the UK’s leading education charities, working in 29 secondary schools across England, Scotland, and Wales. Using rugby as a key delivery tool, we support young people who are struggling to engage in early secondary education - often because of anxiety, low confidence, disrupted home lives, or behavioural challenges rooted in trauma. For many of the children we support, life has already brought more hardship than most adults experience in a lifetime. The SOHK Schools Programme is a two-year intervention working with cohorts of around 20 pupils from Year 7 through to Year 9. The Senior Challenge Fundraising Officer will lead the delivery and growth of the six figure third-party and mass participation challenge events portfolio.
You will manage end-to-end third-party challenge events, developing community-facing charity-owned fundraising products and delivering excellent supporter stewardship.
Working closely with the Head of Fundraising and colleagues across the charity, you will increase recruitment, empower supporters to raise ambitious funds, and create journeys that encourage long-term engagement with the charity.
You will:
Experience required
Experience in third-party mass participation challenge fundraising.
Proven ability to grow participation and increase income, with experience developing stewardship journeys, recruiting supporters and identifying opportunities to maximise fundraising potential.
Experience using CRM systems and supporter data to track engagement, monitor fundraising performance and identify opportunities for improvement, using insight to inform decision-making and strengthen fundraising outcomes.

Fundraising and Communications Officer
We are seeking an experienced and proactive fundraiser who can build relationships, grow community support and create engaging communications that make a difference.
Salary: £30,000 – £34,000
Location: Hybrid – home and Loughborough, with occasional travel across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland
Hours: 37 hours per week

About the role
This is an exciting opportunity to join a small, committed fundraising team within a charity working to prevent homelessness and support people at risk.
Working closely with the Fundraising and Partnerships Manager, you will help deliver an ambitious fundraising and communications strategy, increasing voluntary income, raising the charity’s profile and developing lasting relationships with supporters, businesses and local communities.
It is a varied role combining community fundraising, supporter engagement, events, digital fundraising and communications.

About you
You will be a confident relationship-builder who enjoys getting out into the community, meeting people and turning conversations into meaningful support.
You will ideally have at least two years’ experience within charity fundraising, with experience across one or more areas such as community fundraising, corporate partnerships, major donors, digital fundraising or social media.
You will be comfortable making the ask for support, developing fundraising ideas and creating engaging communications. Strong written and verbal communication skills are important, alongside the ability to manage competing priorities and work collaboratively as part of a small team.
You will need to be able to travel across the local area, and some occasional evening and weekend working will be required. A DBS check is also required.

You will support the development of website content including news articles, blog posts, service information pages, and fundraising campaign pages.
You will help to develop and distribute donor communications including thank-you messages, and impact updates using email marketing platforms.
You will assist with the creation of marketing materials across digital and print channels - including digital graphics, leaflets, posters, and e-newsletters to support campaigns, fundraising events and services.
