Role overview 

This newly created senior role strengthens The Young Foundation’s strategic business development function and supports income growth across the full range of our programmes and partnerships. The post will provide expertise in fundraising and procurement processes including approaches to philanthropic funders and investor circles as well as formal tendering, dealing with a range of funding modalities from research grants to commercial consultancy and trusts and foundations. 

Key responsibilities 

Business development and income growth

• Lead high‑value income generation processes, including building consortia, securing philanthropic funding, and delivering high quality formal tenders, coordinating inputs from across our delivery teams.

• Oversee the preparation of costed proposals and pitches for a diverse range of funders, including research councils, local authorities, commercial consultancy, and philanthropic trusts. 

• Support the continued growth and impact of The Young Foundation’s external-facing activity, aligning business development with communications and policy work. 

• Manage a robust pipeline, tracking opportunities and ensuring strategic alignment with organisational priorities.

• Develop budgets, pricing models, and partnership structures for commissioned work.

• Identify new funding and commissioning opportunities through horizon scanning, network engagement, and proactive outreach.

• Collaborate with senior colleagues to refine and grow thematic and programme areas.

• Support and advise colleagues across the organisation on approaches to business development including opportunity identification, competitive analysis, structuring meetings, building consortia and financial models. 

Partnerships, networks and relationship management

• In collaboration with programme delivery leads, build and steward relationships with funders, commissioners, consortium partners and strategic collaborators.

• Lead account management for key partners to support long‑term growth and mutual value creation.

BD leadership, systems and strategy

• Create, improve and maintain appropriate BD systems, processes and tools, including pipelines, trackers and lessons‑learned approaches.

• Contribute to organisational strategy and planning and, in particular, to fundraising strategy and external affairs.

• Create and monitor BD metrics, reporting on feedback and recommending appropriate courses of action.

• Manage a repository of BD data and information, including track record, capacity statements, boilerplate bid sections, etc.

• Champion The Young Foundation’s values, ensuring inclusive, ethical and community‑centred practice. 

Person specification  

Prior experience – essential  

• Substantial experience of leading/managing business development and income generation for a think tank or similar research/innovation led organisation. 

• Track record of securing income across a range of relevant funders through both competitive tenders and proactive approaches.

• Strong commercial acumen.

• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

• Understanding of UK government and non-government sectoral funding landscapes.

• Strong network in the UK community and/or social innovation sector.

• Commitment to equity and social justice.

• Demonstrated collaborative approach to team-working – able to work effectively with colleagues with a range of specialisms and to operate effectively in a remote-first organisation. 

Prior experience - desirable 

• Experience with the introduction of CRM software.

• Familiarity with creating and reporting on BD metrics at Senior Leadership Team and/or Board level.

• Experience of/interest in exploring the impact of AI in business development and fundraising. 

• Familiarity and/or previous experience with The Young Foundation’s thematic areas (eg, community engagement, just transition, social innovation, young people, etc.).

One of the twelve members of the Coram group, Coram Children’s Legal Centre (CCLC) is the UK’s specialist centre for children’s rights in education, immigration, community care and family law, and provides significant international legal systems consultancy. The centre is located on the Coram Campus in central London with a base in Colchester. We champion access to justice through information and advice, legal practice and representation, policy and strategic litigation. Our Legal Practice Unit provides advice and representation primarily under legal aid contract. Our Policy and Practice Change team promotes practice change through training and capacity building to professionals and secures systems change through research, policy and advocacy.

About the role

This role will provide leadership and management for CCLC particularly focused on the Legal Practice Unit’s legal aid billing operations. Through systematic and efficient management, the post-holder will play a pivotal role in CCLC’s financial and operational sustainability. The role will be accountable for maximising the unit’s legal aid billing in controlled work, certificated work and inter partes costs and will hold responsibility for the unit’s billing systems. It will also be responsible for private fees billing. The post-holder will oversee the smooth running of legal aid billing including through line management of the billing team. The post-holder will work very closely with legal, operations and administrative staff. The role will act as a key point of contact for a range of internal and external stakeholders including Coram’s central finance team who will support the role with grant fund management and overall accounting functions for CCLC. The post-holder will support the Managing Director of Legal Practice and Children’s Rights and department heads in the successful maintenance of our relationship with the Legal Aid Agency. Where appropriate they will be deputising for the Managing Director on legal aid and financial matters.

The role would suit a highly organised and efficient legal, or a finance or billing professional with solid experience of legal practice and a deep understanding of the challenges of legal aid. Whilst candidates with direct experience of legal billing (and more specifically civil legal aid billing) are welcomed, we recognise that this is a highly specialised and niche field. As such, this role could suit a highly experienced solicitor who appreciates the important role developing sustainable businesses plays in ensuring access to justice and who therefore wishes to move into practice and financial management. They will need an aptitude for processing large amounts of data, developing and managing spreadsheets and improving organisational systems. However, they will be well supported through training, an enthusiastic and competent junior billing team, the central finance team and an outsourced legal cashiering company, as well as a friendly and collaborative management team including the Managing Director and the Heads of Education Law, Community Care Law and Immigration and Asylum Law.

This is a largely office-based role in order to fully provide support to the billing team. However, some remote / hybrid working may be possible depending the experience of the candidate after the initial settling in period and there will be flexibility over how the four days will be spread across the week (within working hours). The team are mostly based in the London office and with one billing team member in Colchester so the post holder may require some occasional travel.

When young people in care turn 18, all the support they’ve relied on can fall away, literally overnight.  Suddenly, they have to navigate adulthood on their own. This would be tough for any teenager, even if they could fall back on their family for help. So it’s not surprising that two out of three care-experienced young people feel unprepared to leave care. Too many still don’t get the support they need to make it safely past this cliff edge.

Care leavers aged 18-21 are nine times more likely to experience homelessness than their peers.

Settle exists to change this. We’re an award-winning charity, supporting care-experienced young people as they move into their first home, so they can confidently transition into independent living, avoid eviction and homelessness, and establish the foundations they need to thrive in adulthood. We are on a mission to end homelessness among care-experienced young people.

With our current Head of Fundraising leaving us to go travelling, we’re seeking someone new to help us achieve this ambition. You’ll have a lot to build on. Hours: The hours are full-time (35 hours per week) preferred, with attendance at funder events outside core hours as needed from time to time – part-time will be considered for the right candidate but we envisage at least 0.8FTE / 28 hours per week

This is an exciting opportunity to lead CPAG’s strategic legal work at an important time in the organisation’s fight to end child poverty. As Head of Strategic Litigation, you will oversee and carry out CPAG’s work using legal cases for positive impact, to benefit families and children in poverty. You will be responsible for setting the strategic direction of CPAG’s legal work, in addition to managing CPAG’s legal practice and playing an active role in conducting high-profile litigation on a day-to-day basis.

We are looking for someone who is strategically minded and passionate about using the law to advocate for the rights of, and directly improve the lives of, families in poverty. The ideal candidate will be a solicitor (E&W qualified) with substantial post-qualification experience. You will have experience of conducting public law litigation and legal aid (publicly funded) work. You will be able to supervise the casework of colleagues, such as CPAG’s junior or trainee solicitor(s) and welfare benefit advisers, and support the professional development and wellbeing of your team. You may have experience of working with clients in vulnerable situations or with additional needs, for example, survivors of domestic abuse, refugees, disabled people or children and young people.

A leading, globally recognised research organisation is seeking a Head of Financial Planning & Strategy to drive financial insight, performance and strategic decision-making.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will lead a high-performing team and play a key role in shaping long-term financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, while partnering closely with senior stakeholders and trustees.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading financial planning, budgeting and long-term forecasting
• Delivering insightful analysis to support strategic decision-making
• Overseeing business partnering and research finance teams
• Supporting investment decisions through financial modelling and business cases
• Enhancing reporting, business intelligence and performance insight
• Supporting ongoing finance transformation, including a current ERP implementation

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong experience in financial planning and business partnering within a complex organisation. Strong stakeholder engagement, leadership and analytical skills are essential.

Experience of ERP implementations is highly desirable, particularly Oracle.

Overview

This is an exciting time to be joining the charity! Our new strategy focuses on growth and long-term sustainability, with ambitious plans to extend our reach and impact nationally and to expand and diversify our services. Our long-term ambition for the future is a transformed landscape of multi-disciplinary therapeutic support in schools, with UP acknowledged and recognised as a thought-leader, innovator, preferred collaborator and convener.

Working closely with the Finance & Resources Director, this newly created role will be a key member of UP’s Finance team, supporting the charity to successfully deliver the charity’s strategic plan. You will provide accurate financial information, robust accounting controls and support for budgeting and programme costing, helping the charity operate efficiently and sustainably.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in charity or not-for-profit finance, confident in accounting software (Xero) and with strong Excel skills. You will be highly organised, detail-focused, and able to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues.

What began as a grant-awarding charity raising funds for critical research has evolved. While continuing to support vital research, the foundation is expanding its focus towards prevention, education and awareness, championing earlier diagnosis and influencing systemic change across the women’s health landscape.

As its ambition and activity continue to grow, the foundation is strengthening its internal finance capacity to support increasing operational complexity and ensure robust financial management underpins its impact.

The Head of Finance is responsible for all aspects of the charity’s financial operations, including daily accounting activities, management reporting, compliance, and governance. Supporting the organisation’s ambitious plans to create greater impact, the role will also work closely with the CEO and leadership team in building the organisations capacity, and firm charity governance to enable growth.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified and experienced accountant as day-to-day financial management is a given. As a key player in the Foundation’s growth, you will also embody the values of the organisation, inspire others and actively build strong frameworks within finance, and also for other operational areas if required. This role would be ideal for someone who has been involved in the building and growth of a charity, bringing strong charity governance in equal measure with passion and innovation.

Our client is a large, complex organisation operating in the not-for-profit sector, with a diverse portfolio. With an annual income exceeding £100 million, the organisation is undergoing significant transformation to modernise its finance systems and improve service delivery.

The Finance department operates across multiple entities, supporting strategic decision-making and ensuring financial sustainability. The team is currently engaged in a major transformation programme, including system upgrades and process improvements. This interim role has been created to allow the current Head of FP&A more time to focus on this transformation. The interim will focus on BAU.

The JobT

his is a senior interim leadership role within the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) function. As Head of FP&A (Finance Business Partnering), you will:

• Lead a team of five Finance Business Partners, ensuring consistent and high-quality financial support across the organisation
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting processes
• Drive improvements in reporting tools, templates, and processes
• Support the Head of FP&A and collaborate with other senior finance leaders
• Lead on business-as-usual change initiatives, including internal audit actions and risk mitigation
• Act as a senior finance representative on project boards and steering groups
• Promote financial accountability and literacy across the organisation

You'll play a key role in embedding a culture of strategic insight, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

The Person

You'll be a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience in financial planning and analysis. You'll bring:

The role

We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative Head of Finance to lead our financial management, planning, and governance.

This is a senior and influential role, sitting on our Leadership Group and working closely with the CEO, Trustees, and Finance Committee. You’ll provide clear financial insight to support decision-making, ensure strong financial stewardship, and help us plan sustainably for the future.

You’ll take ownership of the full finance function, supported by an Internal Operations Officer who manages day-to-day transactional processing.

What you’ll do

• Lead financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
• Produce clear, high-quality management accounts and financial analysis
• Support strategic decision-making through strong financial insight and modelling
• Ensure robust financial controls, systems, and compliance (including audit, SORP, and statutory reporting)
• Partner with colleagues across the organisation to support budgeting, funding bids, and full cost recovery
• Oversee payroll and financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
• Contribute to organisational strategy as part of the Leadership Group

About you

You’ll be a confident and values-driven finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively and making complex information accessible.

You’ll bring:

• Significant experience in a senior finance role within a charity or not-for-profit
• Strong knowledge of charity finance, including SORP, restricted funding, and compliance
• Experience producing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts for non-finance audiences
• The ability to influence and support senior leaders with financial insight
• A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail

A professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience is desirable.

This role is designed as a part-time position (28 hours/week) with flexibility around how hours are worked. We are a hybrid organisation, with the option to work remotely or from our London offices (Croydon or Brent). We ask that ideally you attend at least one in-person team day per month in London.

This role requires that you come from a finance business partnering or FP&A background with extensive relationship-building across income-generating stakeholders, with a track record in driving strategic financial decisions and performance monitoring in income-generating teams such as fundraising teams through profit/efficiency measures and effective financial planning covering budgeting and reforecasting. The role requires strong analytical and influencing skills and the capability to balance a strategic and ‘big picture’ mindset with strong attention to detail. Candidates with no experience working closely with income-generating teams will not be considered for the role.
