Global HR Operations Manager
The Clean Air Fund is looking to recruit a Global HR Operations Manager to join their team in London, Delhi or Accra. This is an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly growing organisation whose mission is to use philanthropic grants to catalyse a reduction in air pollution.
The HR Operations Manager is responsible for delivering high quality, consistent, and compliant HR operations across the employee lifecycle with equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) embedded throughout processes and decision-making. This role oversees global payroll governance, ensures strong HR systems and processes, maintains data accuracy and privacy, and leads operational improvements that enhance employee experience.
This is a highly collaborative role. As part of Clean Air Fund’s people team, you will work closely with Global HR Business Partners, Finance, Recruitment, and our global Operations team.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in HR Operations / People Operations roles, ideally in global, multi-country, and scaling environments
- Strong understanding of HR systems, data, and operational processes
- Experience overseeing multi-country, vendor-led payroll
- Experience managing third-party vendors (e.g., payroll, EOR, benefits, HRIS), including service governance and issue resolution
- Solid UK payroll experience, including monthly submissions, end-of-tax-year cycles, and compliance
- Good knowledge of GDPR and data privacy standards
- Experience using technology to improve workflows, implement systems, or drive automation (ideally including Copilot Pro, though other AI proficiency is welcome)
- Strong analytical skills and comfort working with data, reports, and dashboards
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and stakeholders while maintaining high accuracy

Summary
We are seeking a hardworking, ambitious, and dynamic Executive Assistant to the Executive Principal, who will also act as the HR Lead, to join Harris Academy Clapham at an exciting stage in our development.
This pivotal role will be based across Harris Academy Clapham Secondary and Harris Clapham Sixth Form, providing high-level administrative, organisational, and professional support to the Executive Principal. In addition, the postholder will lead on HR administration and coordination, acting as the main point of contact for staff HR matters and supporting the effective implementation of people processes across both sites.

The key duties of this role will cover:

We are nationally responsible for ensuring that there is a pipeline of lay and ordained ministers together with their terms of service and the development of future and current senior leaders to meet the missional needs of the church. Our work requires us to work collaboratively with a wide range of stake holders and partners including the 42 Church of England Dioceses, 20 Church of England Theological Colleges, the House and College of Bishops, the College of Cathedral Deans and the College of Archdeacons together with a range of universities and other external bodies. Our work is overseen by the Ministry Development Board, which is a subcommittee of the Archbishops' Council and is chaired by a Diocesan Bishop.
The Assistant Ministry Human Resources (HR) Policy Officer will play a key role in the life of the Ministry Development Team as we work together to support the mission and ministry of the Church of England by supporting the development of the ministerial terms of service and wellbeing portfolio. We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to work with staff and volunteers at our established Christian recovery charity in Berkshire. You will provide direction, support and oversight on all aspects of HR management, including: recruitment; staff supervisions and appraisals; compliance with employment regulations; training; performance and talent management; grievance, disciplinary, and capability procedures; salary structure and employee benefits; and organisational personnel planning.
We do not currently have HR software, so reviewing our requirements in this area would be one of your responsibilities.
As a small charity (c. 43 salaried staff and casual workers, plus volunteers), the role will require balancing practical tasks with management responsibilities. For the majority of the working week, you'll be based in the office (a lovely rural setting near Twyford, Reading) and, being situated within the rehabilitation centre, you will have daily contact with those men whom you are helping. They inspire and motivate us just as much as we seek to encourage and support them. (Some remote working might also be possible.)

Your new role
We are seeking an experienced Interim HR Manager to provide hands-on support while we recruit a permanent post holder. This is a key role within the not-for-profit organisation, ensuring continuity across the HR function while also leading on several priority improvement areas.
A significant focus of the role will be reviewing and strengthening recruitment processes and updating HR policies, alongside delivering a high-quality, pragmatic HR service to managers and employees.
Overview of the Role
- Review and assess current recruitment processes, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and candidate experience
- Update, review, and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring they are compliant, clear, and fit for purpose
- Act as a trusted HR lead, providing operational advice and guidance to managers across the employee lifecycle
- Manage and advise on employee relations matters, including absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance issues
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment activity, from role scoping through to onboarding
- Ensure HR processes are applied consistently and in line with employment legislation and best practice
- Maintain accurate HR records and contribute to basic HR reporting and insights
- Support and stabilise the HR function, ensuring a smooth handover to the incoming permanent HR Manager
What we are looking for
- Proven experience in an HR Manager or senior HR generalist role
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law and operational HR best practice
- Confident reviewing and improving processes, policies, and ways of working
- Comfortable operating in a hands-on, fast-paced environment
- Able to build credibility quickly with stakeholders at all levels
- CIPD qualification or equivalent experience desirable

The Opportunity
This newly created Head of People position blends strategic leadership with hands-on delivery, offering autonomy and visibility across the organisation.
Reporting to the Operations Director and managing an HR Manager, you'll take ownership of the full people agenda - from designing a forward-looking strategy to embedding inclusive, high-performing practices across the charity.

Key Responsibilities

We are looking for an experienced, driven and resourceful Head of HR and Operations, reporting to our Director of Finance and Resources. The role brings together delegated leadership for HR, Governance, Operations (Facilities, H&S, IT) and Risk management, working within the strategic direction set by the Director of Finance and Resources and CEO. We are transitioning from a historically outsourced HR model to a strengthened, inhouse HR and Operations function, to support delivery of our new five-year strategy.

Leukaemia UK and You
You will lead the development and delivery of People, Governance & Operations frameworks, aligned to the organisation’s strategy and under the direction of the Director of Finance and Resources. As a Head Of, you will contribute strategically as a specialist in your field, combining hands‑on operational delivery with a strong focus on continuous improvement. You will have the opportunity to help shape and embed new ways of working, improve processes and systems, and develop an important function that is fit to support an ambitious and growing charity. Delivery will be a team effort, with operational coordination and administrative delivery carried out by the Governance & Operations direct report, under your leadership.
Whilst the accountability is broad, we seek first and foremost a qualified and experienced HR professional, with a track record in a wide range of HR disciplines, working across a variety of stakeholders and managing a busy workload to deliver programmes of work. As part of this, we would expect a level of exposure and competence with regards to operations, governance and risk management. You will line‑manage and develop the Governance and Operations direct report, who provides administrative and coordination support across HR, governance, health & safety, facilities and IT activity.
In return, you will gain exposure to a broad range of organisational activity, work closely with senior leaders and teams, and play a key role in supporting Leukaemia UK’s next phase of strategic development.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Experience in managing a broad range of HR activities in a small or medium-sized charitable organisation.
- CIPD Qualified
- Proven experience of shaping HR strategy and implementation, with tangible outcomes.
- Business partner experience, to tailor HR support to the needs of different teams.
- Proven experience in shaping the culture and internal ways of working of an organisation, including expertise in EDIB and Wellbeing.
- Proven experience in organisational design and change management
- Excellent knowledge of UK Employment Law and how to embed this into HR policy.
- Proven experience in advising on Employee Relations to reach fair and just outcomes.
- Sufficient knowledge to oversee and review the Comp and Benefits framework.
- Proven experience in providing learning and development solutions to meet internal needs.
- Experience of line managing staff and supporting their development.
- Effective communication skills (written and oral), ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
- Effective planning and work prioritision skills to balance strategic and project work with hands on delivery and line management.
- Comfortable working in a part time role with clear priorities and boundaries.
- Resilient and resourceful to navigate through and embed organisational and process change
- Able to demonstrate our charities values of being bold, collaborative and curious.
- Discrete and trustworthy with high levels of integrity.
- Strong IT skills, including Office 365 and SharePoint.
Desirable:
- Governance experience
- Risk management experience
- Level of exposure to Health and Safety obligations
- Management of outsourced service providers.
- Willingness to identify, test and apply appropriate technology and AI tools to streamline processes.
Role Specifics
- 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE) worked over 4-5 days, Monday to Friday.
- Location: We are very flexible! Our offices are based in Central London, and we operate hybrid working. In this role you are required to work from the office at least 1 day per week.
- FTE Salary range £60,000 dependent on experience (pro-rata for part time)
