Brief role description:
We are looking for a Risk, Insurance and Compliance Officer to join our Legal and Governance team and play an important role in supporting parkrun’s approach to risk, insurance and compliance.
The role will have lead responsibility for managing parkrun’s insurance portfolio, including working with brokers, insurers and other advisers, overseeing renewals and claims, ensuring appropriate cover is maintained, and providing advice and guidance on insurance and related risk matters.
Alongside this, the role will support the development and embedding of parkrun’s approach to risk management, working with teams to establish practical and proportionate processes and controls. The role will also provide broader compliance support to the Legal and Governance team, including policies, processes and relevant areas of organisational risk such as information security, cyber security and data protection.
This is a varied role for someone with practical experience in insurance and risk, excellent communication skills and the ability to work confidently across a broad range of compliance matters. You will be expected to take ownership of your areas of responsibility, work collaboratively across the organisation and provide practical, proportionate advice.

Main responsibilities:
Insurance
Take lead responsibility for managing parkrun’s insurance portfolio, ensuring appropriate cover is maintained and effectively administered.
Manage relationships with brokers, insurers and external advisers, including co-ordinating the annual renewal process.
Oversee insurance claims, working with brokers, insurers and relevant colleagues through to resolution.
Provide advice and guidance on insurance, coverage and related risk matters.
Monitor changes in parkrun’s activities and risk profile and identify implications for insurance arrangements.
Risk
Support the development and embedding of parkrun’s organisation-wide approach to risk management and promote a consistent and practical approach to risk across the organisation.
Supporting the management and mitigation of cyber and information security risk.
Provide oversight and assurance of parkrun’s event risk assessment process and oversee the risk and compliance aspects of landowner agreements, working with relevant colleagues to ensure appropriate arrangements are in place.
Work with teams to support risk registers and reporting processes and help identify emerging and strategic risks.
Compliance
Provide practical support to the Global Head of Legal and Governance including the development, review and implementation of policies and procedures and the development of parkrun’s compliance framework.
Provide practical support to parkrun’s Data Protection Officer on data protection, information governance and related compliance matters as appropriate.
Support colleagues in the management of parkrun’s trade mark portfolio.
Essential experience requirements:
Relevant experience in a risk, insurance, compliance or a related role.
Strong practical knowledge of insurance, and experience of managing or supporting insurance arrangements, including working with brokers and/or insurers and dealing with claims.
Experience managing relationships with external stakeholders and taking ownership of significant areas of work.
A good understanding of risk management principles, frameworks and registers.
A pragmatic and proportionate approach to risk and compliance.
Desirable experience requirements:
Experience in compliance including developing, reviewing and implementing policies, procedures and controls.
Knowledge or experience of information security, cyber security, data protection or information governance.

Who we are
Every year, thousands of people in the UK face court alone. Often through no choice of their own, people must represent themselves at a moment that could have life-changing outcomes. This includes loss of access to children or homelessness. At the same time, people facing court alone may find themselves up against a party with legal representation. They are instantly at a disadvantage and overwhelmed by the enormity of the challenges they are up against. We supported unrepresented litigants in the civil and family courts in England and Wales over 45,000 times last year.
We provide a safe space with volunteers who listen to each client’s individual story. Last year, over 1000 volunteers helped people to get their thoughts in order, problem-solve and decide next steps, source relevant and reliable legal information, explain complex procedures, complete court forms, and clearly present statements.
At a time when legal support is increasingly limited, we have a vision that no one should have to face court alone.
The role
Support Through Court is establishing a legal advice clinic for money claim matters under £10,000, for a one-year pilot. Advice will be given to clients across the national service network who have been internally triaged to the clinic.
The role involves day-to day management of the clinic and supervising law students as they facilitate client appointments, conduct research and draft letters of advice. Clients will predominantly be supported remotely with occasional in-person appointments and advice “drop-ins” in the local area. You will train and supervise students to help them gain practical legal skills in a clinic setting, having final sign-off of completed letters of advice/oral advice to ensure clients receive an excellent service.
You will embed the legal advice offering of the clinic into the organisation, increasing and developing referrals from our national service network and supporting staff understanding of referral ability.

This role will lead CAFOD’s policy and advocacy work aimed at tackling the global climate crisis. We are looking for highly motivated individuals to provide proactive advocacy and support services to people who have experienced sexual violence/ abuse. The CYP ISVA provides practical and emotional support to children and young people who have experienced sexual violence or abuse. The role focuses on delivering age-appropriate, trauma-informed support that reduces distress and supports informed decision-making. You will work with children and young people who may not be ready for counselling, offering accessible support while guiding them through the criminal justice process and advocating on their behalf. The role also involves supporting parents and carers, ensuring the young person’s voice is heard and their needs are met.
We are looking for individuals who have experience of working within an advocacy role, preferably within domestic or sexual abuse or related fields such as mental health/social care/justice roles. You will have a sound understanding of risk assessment alongside experience of managing diverse caseloads and working pro-actively within multi-agency partnerships to support victim-focused outcomes. The successful applicants will have effective communication and advocacy skills and knowledge of the impact of sexual violence/abuse.
