The Opportunity

• Fluency in English, with additional proficiency in French and/or Spanish highly desirable (and the ability to work professionally in English)
• Willingness and ability to travel internationally, including to remote project locations

The Finance Lead has a crucial role in assisting the Head of Finance with ensuring the effective running of the Finance department, taking responsibility for the management and oversight of the day to day operations of the Finance function of the Charity and its trading subsidiary.

To thrive in this position, you’ll need to take responsibility for the management and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the finance function of our charity and its trading subsidiary.

Key responsibilities include:
• Managing the bank relationships including bank accounts and cash positions to ensure accuracy within the CRM and finance system.
• Managing the accounts receivable, accounts payable, procure to pay and general ledger functions of the charity in accordance with the chart of accounts to ensure the integrity of the management and statutory accounts.
• Working alongside the People and Culture Team and the charity’s external payroll provider to receive, reconcile and input the monthly payroll into the finance system.
• Maintaining the charity’s investment positions and accurately reflecting the current market values in the accounts.
• Assisting with the preparation of the quarterly management accounts as well as the preparation of the annual accounts for inclusion within the annual report ensuring they are compliant with the FRS 102 and the Charity SORP.
• Being a key representative during the annual financial audit process including the production of auditable working papers to ensure audit completion.
• Managing the day-to-day finance function of the charity’s trading arm, Red Balloon Trading, including assisting with the quarterly VAT return and the preparation of the annual accounts.
• Maintaining the integrity of the charity ledger, ensuring all transactions reflect a true and accurate position of the charity as well as maintaining the records for creation of new funds, customers and suppliers.
• Delivering line management of two Senior Finance Officers. Providing guidance with all day-to-day activities, being a role model and mentor to aid their personal and professional development.
• Liaising regularly with external bodies as well as maintaining strong relationships with all departments within the charity.

In order to achieve a broader range of experience on the Committee, the Authority is seeking to appoint an independent member with experience, at a senior level, in the one of the following key areas:

Candidates with experience in these areas in large private sector organisations will also be considered.

Independent Members will be appointed for an initial period up to 31 March 2029 with the potential for this to be extended for a further three years.

Successful candidates will receive an annual allowance of £1500 and will be expected to attend three Committee meetings per year. Meetings are usually held in person at MRWA’s office at No 1 Mann Island but may occasionally be held vie Teams.

Candidates will also need to be able to commit sufficient time to read Committee papers in advance of these meetings and to undertake occasional training alongside the other Committee members.

• Are currently a Member, Co-opted Member, or an employee or a consultant to MRWA in any capacity, or have been an employee or Elected Member in the last five years;

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking Head of Finance to act as the University’s senior professional lead for financial management, planning, reporting and control.

This pivotal role provides authoritative financial stewardship, ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, and plays a key part in shaping strategic decision‑making across the institution.

You will lead the Finance function to:

The organisation is an innovative and entrepreneurial women’s health focused foundation creating bold awareness campaigns, industry leading fundraising events, and shattering the silence surrounding gynaecological cancers. 

What began as a grant-awarding charity raising funds for critical research has evolved. While continuing to support vital research, the foundation is expanding its focus towards prevention, education and awareness, championing earlier diagnosis and influencing systemic change across the women’s health landscape.

As its ambition and activity continue to grow, the foundation is strengthening its internal finance capacity to support increasing operational complexity and ensure robust financial management underpins its impact.

The Head of Finance is responsible for all aspects of the charity’s financial operations, including daily accounting activities, management reporting, compliance, and governance. Supporting the organisation’s ambitious plans to create greater impact, the role will also work closely with the CEO and leadership team in building the organisations capacity, and firm charity governance to enable growth.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified and experienced accountant as day-to-day financial management is a given. As a key player in the Foundation’s growth, you will also embody the values of the organisation, inspire others and actively build strong frameworks within finance, and also for other operational areas if required. This role would be ideal for someone who has been involved in the building and growth of a charity, bringing strong charity governance in equal measure with passion and innovation.

About the role

As a Finance Assistant you will report to the Head of Finance. The successful candidate will have an aptitude for numbers and be well organised. You will be a self-starter with the ability to use your own initiative and meet agreed deadlines working as part of a team with a positive problem-solving attitude. You will hold a general accounting qualification or have proven similar accounting experience.

You will be responsible for ensuring transactions are processed accurately and for the timely reconciliation of the trial balance with supporting documentation as necessary to support the monthly management and annual statutory accounts.

Our youth clubs and casework are transformative for young refugees, allowing young people who have fled danger, had traumatic journeys and who are often here alone, to find community and connection, have a space to be a young person and access support in addressing a whole range of practical challenges they face. The role

We’re looking for an experienced and collaborative Head of Finance to lead our financial management, planning, and governance.

This is a senior and influential role, sitting on our Leadership Group and working closely with the CEO, Trustees, and Finance Committee. You’ll provide clear financial insight to support decision-making, ensure strong financial stewardship, and help us plan sustainably for the future.

You’ll take ownership of the full finance function, supported by an Internal Operations Officer who manages day-to-day transactional processing.

What you’ll do

• Lead financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
• Produce clear, high-quality management accounts and financial analysis
• Support strategic decision-making through strong financial insight and modelling
• Ensure robust financial controls, systems, and compliance (including audit, SORP, and statutory reporting)
• Partner with colleagues across the organisation to support budgeting, funding bids, and full cost recovery
• Oversee payroll and financial operations, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
• Contribute to organisational strategy as part of the Leadership Group

About you

You’ll be a confident and values-driven finance professional who enjoys working collaboratively and making complex information accessible.

You’ll bring:

• Significant experience in a senior finance role within a charity or not-for-profit
• Strong knowledge of charity finance, including SORP, restricted funding, and compliance
• Experience producing management accounts, budgets, and forecasts for non-finance audiences
• The ability to influence and support senior leaders with financial insight
• A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail

A professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience is desirable.

This role is designed as a part-time position (28 hours/week) with flexibility around how hours are worked. We are a hybrid organisation, with the option to work remotely or from our London offices (Croydon or Brent). We ask that ideally you attend at least one in-person team day per month in London.
