About the role

Crisis at Christmas Day Centres are safe, warm and welcoming places run by friendly volunteers. Open 24th – 28th December 2026, the Day Centres are an open-access service providing food, companionship, activities and vital services such as healthcare, showers and fresh clothing. Although designed for people who are experiencing homelessness, our guests come from a range of different situations, including current rough sleepers, vulnerably housed individuals, people experiencing food poverty, and those suffering from loneliness and isolation.

You will provide safeguarding advice and oversight at one of our sites, ensuring that all guests, volunteers and staff are supported in a safe, inclusive and trauma-informed way. You will be responsible for responding to safeguarding concerns, supporting decision-making around risk, and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed consistently across all services and activities.

You will not be responsible for:

· dealing with housing or accommodation queries that are not related to safeguarding

· offering casework or advice and support to guests

· investigating safeguarding concerns or proving risk

· ongoing work beyond their contracted hours

To be considered for the role you must be able to be on site at a Day Centre in London during the Christmas period. This will include working on Bank Holidays and weekends, including Christmas Day.

About you

· Significant experience of working with and safeguarding adults within a fast-paced service environment.

· Experience managing safeguarding concerns, risk and crisis situations in line with safeguarding legislation, guidance and best practice

· Experience of working in psychologically-informed, person-centered and anti oppressive ways

· Ability to work collaboratively with staff and volunteers

· Strong communication and record-keeping skills

Desirable

· Experience working within homelessness, health, social care, community or voluntary sector settings

· Experience supporting colleagues in a fast-paced operational environment.

Requirements for the role

· Complete training on the Crisis at Christmas incident management system (IMS)

· Half day induction, including an evening meeting with volunteers – 9th Dec 2026
