Philanthropy and Partnerships fundraising at Alzheimer's Research UK has grown significantly over recent years. The Directorate has a strong track record of soliciting seven-figure donations and winning significant corporate partnerships with well-known and well-loved brands such as Omaze, Cadbury, Warburtons, Roadchef and Dobbies.

We are now building upon this success and have launched a new, significant fundraising campaign. This campaign will help drive further transformational growth, from income across major donors, trusts and foundations, and corporate partners. Ultimately, it will help us fund cutting-edge research that will bring forward the day when we can diagnose, treat and prevent dementia. 

As part of Alzheimer’s Research UK’s Leadership Team, and working closely with the senior stakeholders across ARUK, the Head of Philanthropy will lead the organisation’s work with our philanthropy audiences (namely major donors, trusts and foundations). Under the banner of the new campaign, the Head of Philanthropy will define and implement the team’s strategy, ensuring it supports the charity’s vision, mission and strategic objectives. 

The Head of Philanthropy will lead a Directorate of approximately 8-10 people and line manage three team members (namely the Philanthropy Executive and two Philanthropy Managers).

The role holder will also personally lead on relationships with a small group of ARUK’s most generous supporters, and prospective supporters, across Philanthropy audiences.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy, finance and reporting

· Work with the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships and Partnerships to lead on the strategy for the Philanthropy Team, including leading on the Ops plan, budgeting and strategy for the team.

· Grow Philanthropy income at Alzheimer’s Research UK, in line with agreed targets and expenditure.

· Monitor progress against targets, adjusting as necessary.

· Provide direction, guidance and support across the Philanthropy team.

· Evaluate reporting methods across the team and ensure they facilitate the accurate recording of the Philanthropy team’s fundraising activities.

· Represent the Philanthropy team at Head level internally.

Fundraising

· Manage a small portfolio of key current and prospective donors, building strategic relationships at the very highest level and delivering six and seven-figure gifts.

· Build a network of Senior Volunteers, working with the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships to ensure the team are maximising the opportunities available through our President, Chair and other senior stakeholders.

· Develop a thorough understanding of ARUK’s projects, policies and activities to enable you to articulate the mission of our work and inspire people to join us.

· Present and pitch to potential supporters and donors, managing high-level meetings where relevant and engaging other appropriate senior representation when needed.

· Ensure high-quality management of existing supporter relationships, making sure supporters find giving to ARUK rewarding and enjoyable.

· Tailor and develop Cases for Support to attract support for the work of ARUK’s projects.

· Manage and attend events and meetings with external representatives and involving the Director of Philanthropy and Partnerships, CEO and other colleagues and volunteers.

· Work with senior and scientific staff, empowering them to build relationships with current and prospective supporters.

· Explore the opportunities for cross-team working, especially, but not limited to the Corporate Fundraising and Celebrity teams.

Line Management and people management

· Inspire, motivate, challenge and support individuals and teams within the Philanthropy team. Promote collaborative working across the team and with other teams across the charity, developing a culture of innovation, openness, accountability and resourcefulness.

· Line manage three members of staff, namely two Philanthropy Managers and the Donor Relations Manager, actively empowering, coaching and supporting them to develop their teams’ operational plans and deliver on key priorities.

· Set clear goals, objectives and KPIs for each team member and provide them with the ongoing guidance and support they need to reach them.

· Role model and actively embed Alzheimer’s Research UK values and behaviours across all activities, and champion the principles of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

· Provide strong leadership and support to the Philanthropy Team, through coaching, mentoring and developing individuals to enable them to effectively carry out their role.  Carry out performance appraisal meetings and effectively promote team building and collaborative working to deliver the strategic and operational plans.

· Ensure all Philanthropy and Partnerships activity is conducted to the highest standards and in line with the strategic priorities, developing consistent and rigorous methods for measuring success and sharing knowledge/outcomes across the team, department, and wider charity.

Communications

· Work closely with the Finance team to ensure all grants are correctly allocated and used, and conditions met

· Liaise and work with the Research team and the Communications team to produce accurate and timely reports and applications

· Stay up to date with ARUK’s research and other news to be able to communicate effectively with supporters, disseminating the charity’s key messages both among the team and to key supporters.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience needed:

· Demonstrable knowledge and experience of major gift fundraising.

· Thorough understanding of managing a team of fundraisers.

· Experience of developing and implementing fundraising strategies.

· Proven track record in establishing, monitoring and achieving ambitious fundraising targets.

· Experience of managing a Philanthropy team to deliver significant income growth.

· Excellent communicator, with an ability to build relationships and inspire confidence and respect at all levels.

· Demonstrates strong negotiation, influencing and decision-making skills, with an ability to present arguments logically and confidently

· Excellent listening skills, receptive to feedback and demonstrates flexibility, curiosity and an ability to learn.

· Strong team player who can work both independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.

· Confident and engaging presenter with an ability to adapt style to suit the audience and react/manage short lead times.

· Excellent planning and organisational skills, with an ability to work to deadlines and reprioritise work in accordance with the organisational needs.

· Strong attention to detail with an ability to remain calm under pressure

· Strong ethical standards and a high level of personal integrity.

· Excellent IT skills in PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

 

Additional Information:

Ways of working: As part of our Agile ways of working you will be required to work approximately 2 days a week from the office, which is subject to the requirements of the role and the business needs. Flexibility on where you work can be split between working from home and our office.

Roles that are classed as part of the Agile ways of working are not able to claim any costs for Mileage/Travel on Public Transport, Accommodation and/or Meals.  This includes when attending the office for various meetings/events.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference in local communities. In this role, you will work closely with colleagues in the Social Value Team, the Charities Liaison Team and wider Group functions, playing a key part in ensuring our initiatives continue to improve lives and places. You will assist LHCPG’s Group and Regional Business Units in implementing the broader Social Value Strategy across our products, services and projects, whilst collaborating with associate partners and companies planning community projects and supporting them to report on the outcomes of their social value plans.

This fixed term position will support Scotland and the North of England and will involve regular travel throughout the regions. You will create the positioning statements and the overall brand architecture that give these organisations a distinct personality, building on their core values to make sure they feel authentic.

We want someone who won’t shy away from testing whether a client should be bold and authoritative, or lead with an emotional narrative to influence the right people. 

What we don’t want is someone comfortable with the bland stuff. We are not looking for someone who imposes their own idea of what a brand should be. The best brand work comes from listening closely to how clients describe what they do, helping them refine and articulate it, and shaping that into something clear and distinctive. The brands you create need to go beyond words; you will create a brand that helps clients live it in practice. 

What we are looking for: 

In addition to the above, you will have: 

• A background in running brand audits, including stakeholder interviews, competitor research, and workshops to identify where a brand sits now and where it needs to go.

• Skill in translating technical policy language into a clear, creative written brand strategy that a client’s communications and design teams can use.

• Confidence in turning strategy into actionable briefs for designers for visual identity development. 

• Experience serving as the main point of contact for clients, managing their expectations, and offering constructive pushback when necessary.

An international charity with a highly respected fundraising portfolio is seeking a Senior Events Manager to lead the delivery of a large-scale, global events programme.

This role arises following the resignation of the current postholder, who leaves the programme in an exceptionally strong position. Processes are well established, supplier and logistics relationships are robust, and plans for upcoming major events are already well advanced.

You will lead a small events team and take overall responsibility for the delivery of a demanding and high-profile programme, including a flagship international challenge event generating significant income.

• Lead the delivery of a complex portfolio of fundraising and stewardship events in the UK and internationally
• Take overall responsibility for a flagship international challenge event, including budget management, logistics and participant experience

As an integral member of the Fundraising Team, the London Fundraising Assistant will support the delivery of a range of successful fundraising activity based around the three centres, in order to maximise income for Maggie’s. 

As Fundraising Administrator, you will welcome and support visitors within the centre in their fundraising for Maggie’s as well as in the local community and ensuring they are motivated, informed and supported.  

This is a demanding role in a fast-paced environment where priorities change frequently.  

There will be a requirement to work irregular hours as well as frequent travel in the London area.

As a Services Admin Coordinator, you will be the backbone of our services team, ensuring smooth operations, coordinating key activities, and supporting our mission to improve the lives of people affected by epilepsy.

At Epilepsy Action we recognise the power of collaboration and teamwork, so our team members with hybrid contracts can expect to work a minimum of 40% at our office in Leeds. On average this is 2 days a week, normally on Mondays and Thursdays, for full-time employees. The expectation to collaborate face-to-face is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do which may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to help us create a world without limits for people with epilepsy.

What you will do​

Every day is different, but your purpose stays the same: helping our services to run smoothly.

You will:

• Work closely with services teams to create listings for virtual events to enable people to learn more about epilepsy
• Create and amend webpages for our services
• Arrange service users appointments, rescheduling appointments as necessary in line with our service guidelines.
• Respond to enquiries via telephone and digital channels ensuring they are logged on our CRM.
• Utilise process mapping and IT skills to identify efficiencies across services.
• Support the gathering of service user feedback for evaluation purposes.
• Support with the marketing of services.
• Maintain our presence in national and regional directories.

This is a role where you’ll make a positive difference behind the scenes, utilising your organisational skills and initiative to streamline processes.

About the role

The Chief Operating Officer at GLAN will play a crucial role in steering the team in the successful implementation of the charity’s organisational strategy, and will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the organisation – in order to build a sustainable, compliant, resilient and well-governed organisation.

The ideal candidate

We are looking for an experienced leader with a proven track-record of delivering financial oversight and overseeing complex budgets and projects to completion in a fast-paced environment. We are looking for someone who possesses excellent people skills, who is emotionally intelligent and can guide a dynamic team remotely.

The Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the delivery of core services and will manage a core team of staff to deliver Finance, HR, Fundraising, Communications and Governance.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a similar role, with in depth understanding of how charitable, purpose driven organisations operate. You must have excellent leadership skills, a solid grasp of data analysis and performance metrics, financial planning and budgeting skills, and an advanced understanding of business planning, budget and project management.

Key Responsibilities

Senior Leadership

• Lead the Senior Leadership team in the implementation of our revised organisational strategy 2027-2030.
• Ensure organisation-wide financial oversight and operational business planning.
• Provide guidance and support to GLAN’s team.
• Deputise for the CEO when necessary and take ownership of high-level decision-making.

Operational oversight

• Maintain operational oversight so that legal, advocacy, funding and finance align with GLAN’s organisational strategy.
• Oversee and facilitate the flow of information between the legal and operational teams so that our legal case works aligns with finances, commitments to funders, team capacity, and communications plans.
• Ensure that systems enable on-going monitoring of expenditure so that fundraising and finance are aware of gaps/underspends.
• Help ensure cases/teams are sufficiently resourced in terms of staff capacity.
• Ensure joined up working, and provide strategic guidance when challenges arise.

People and culture

• Provide strong leadership to ensure a professional and healthy working culture.

• Ensure we have all necessary policies in place and take the lead on coordinating the establishment and review of existing and further policies. Oversee the regular review of GLAN’s risk management frameworks and our risk register.
• Oversee GLAN’s governance structures (internal reporting, Board meetings etc.), ensuring decisions are well informed and documented.

Financial oversight

• Oversee financial operations: budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, expenditure controls, financial reporting, payroll.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, audit requirements and donor / funder financial reporting obligations.
• Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, and financial service providers.
• Ensure best practices are followed and financial risk is identified and managed appropriately.

Operations

As Events & Community Engagement Lead, you will drive a dynamic programme of events, outreach, and partnerships that not only showcase our work, but actively challenge perceptions and champion inclusion.

You will take ownership of the strategic planning and delivery of our full events portfolio - from Theatre in Education performances and community workshops to respite holidays, fundraising events, and external commissions. You’ll ensure every event is thoughtfully designed, professionally delivered, and aligned with our mission to amplify the voices, talents, and lived experiences of our students.

A key part of your role will be building and nurturing meaningful relationships. You’ll develop partnerships with schools, universities, healthcare providers, businesses, and community organisations - creating opportunities for collaboration, education, and increased visibility for our work. Acting as a confident and passionate ambassador, you’ll represent the charity in a variety of public and professional settings, helping to grow our network and influence.

You will also lead on fundraising, identifying and securing new opportunities through grants, sponsorships, and partnerships. The Chief Executive & Creative Director holds the most senior post at Dance City, unites the creative and strategic functions of the organisation, and is accountable to the board of trustees for the good management and impact of the charity. The Chief Executive & Creative Director leads and works collaboratively with the board, senior management team (SMT) and stakeholders and partners to ensure that Dance City creates opportunities for people to create, produce and experience dance at its very best. The Chief Executive & Creative Director drives the business, identifying commercial opportunities, securing financial resilience, and ensuring that Dance City’s programme is at the vanguard of sustainable dance development in the region. The Chief Executive & Creative Director is based in the northeast and plays an active role in the social life and cultural communities of the region.
