Fauna & Flora is seeking a highly experienced professional to manage it’s fundraising from a portfolio of statutory (government and multilateral) donors, such as Defra, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service etc.

You will support colleagues and partners to develop high-quality proposal packages for priority donors, and ensure their timely submission. You will coordinate proposals and reporting internally, and ensure all documents produced for donors meet their criteria, as well as follow Fauna & Flora approval and submission procedures. There is a strong capacity development element to this work, and you will share knowledge, learning and resources across Fauna & Flora to maximise success rate and promote best practice in grant management and donor stewardship. You may also develop and deliver training packages, in Cambridge and potentially overseas. You will monitor Fauna & Flora’s activities in statutory fundraising and fund management within your portfolio, and support internal decision-making and strategy development by sharing this learning.

Experience of working with government funding sources, be they bilateral and/or multilateral, is essential for this role. You will have proven experience of securing restricted funding from government sources, and a strong understanding of how statutory donors and funding programmes support the achievement of international targets and government priorities. Knowledge of and experience in biodiversity conservation, the development sector, and/or climate is an asset; a commitment to learning and supporting these sectors is essential. You may have worked in the non-profit sector, such as international development, or have a background in bid management, proposal development, and grant fundraising.

Strong relationship-management and communications skills are essential to the role, to develop positive, collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regional teams, non-governmental partners, and government agencies. You will be diplomatic and persuasive, and your excellent interpersonal skills will enable you to coordinate people and processes to meet timelines. You will be a strong team player and enjoy working in a dynamic environment where the ability to respond swiftly to changing organisational and team needs is paramount. With a proactive and pre-emptive approach to your work, you will seek to add value and work with minimal supervision.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential. Skills in languages relevant to Fauna & Flora’s programme (e.g., French, Spanish, Bahasa) are highly desirable. Sensitivity to the different working environments and capacities of colleagues around the world is also essential.

A National Museum renowned for housing once of the finest arts collections in the world is currently seeking an Interim Financial Controller to join the team for an initial 6 month period.

Reporting into the Director of Finance & Resources, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the organisation and is the first point of contract for internal and external stakeholders. You will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and time financial reporting and produce monthly management accounts.

Duties will include the following:

• Preparation of all routine and ad hoc reports drawn from accounting records
• Production of monthly management accounts, including variance analysis
• Monthly reports for all budget holders
• Coding of all self-generated income, ensuring that recognition complies with the relevant accounting standards  
• Maintenance of the Fixed Asset register (reconciliation performed annually as part of the year end process)
• Payroll reconciliation (payroll is performed by an external third party provider)
• Preparation of the annual budget and periodic reforecasts of budget throughout the year
• Monthly counting and banking of the donation boxes
• Regular monitoring of bank accounts and working capital

Visitor Experience Manager
Location: Slimbridge
Salary: £34,405 per annum
Contract: Permanent

This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, working 5 days out of 7 including weekends and bank holidays.

Slimbridge Wetland Centre is looking for a Visitor Experience Manager to lead both our paid and volunteer teams, champion cross departmental working and achieve an inspiring and engaging visitor experience.

Working with the General Manager, you will ensure that visitor experience is at the forefront of everything we do, including how we engage with our visitors before, during and after their visit.

As our Visitor Experience Manager, you will lead and support our Learning, Engagement & Events, Visitor Services and Administration teams. You are responsible for conveying a warm welcome at the admissions desk and the business reception, delivering events & engagement programmes throughout the centre and overseeing formal learning, and the Scott House Museum.

You will also act as duty manager on a rota basis ensuring the smooth operation of day-to-day activities within the centre, communicating to all on site the expectations of the day.

With a wide and varied remit, including Arts, Heritage UK and Health and Social welfare, the key responsibilities will include:

• Providing the Trustees with expert professional advice and well-judged recommendations for grant-making, based on detailed knowledge of their sector and comprehensive research and analysis.

• Assisting in the management of grant making operations including assessing applications, conducting due diligence, and ensuring effective grants administration.

• Reviewing and evaluating the progress of programmes and partnerships, working closely with recipients of grants and programmatic investments to develop their capacity to maximise impact and ensure effectiveness.

• Providing Trustees with research relevant to the Trusts’ mission and priority areas as well as financial and narrative reports, and information on the Trust programmes including grants, investments, and projects.

About you:

• With experience and understanding of working in areas of activity relevant to the Trusts’ work, you will have demonstrated experience in managing grant programmes with diverse grantees to achieve strategic charitable goals.

• With excellent communication skills, you will be able to present ideas skilfully both in writing and in person and be able to build rapport with Trustees and build strong collaborative working relationships with other funders, expert advisors, NGOs, and grantees.

• You will have strong research skills based on knowledge of the charity sector and be able to successfully plan and manager a substantial administrative workload, with careful attention and be able to effectively prioritise work across both Trusts.

• You will be confident to take initiative and work independently and thrive in working in a complex and diverse environment, but most importantly, you will whole-heartedly support the family’s realisation of its philanthropy and demonstrate commitment to the Trustees’ objectives and grant-making priorities.
