Job description

Who we are:

Muslim Aid is a UK faith-based international development organisation that provides support to communities around the world affected by disasters, conflict, or endemic poverty without regard to their social, religious, or ethnic background.

Established in 1985, Muslim Aid has facilitated the engagement of the British Muslim and non-Muslim community in support of its work in a variety of ways. Over the years, its humanitarian work has included responses to major crises around the world including famine in East Africa, earthquakes and flooding in Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as conflicts in Syria and Yemen.

We place strong emphasis on long-term development projects that build the capacity of local people to help themselves. In addition to our 5 country offices worldwide, we also work with multiple partner offices focusing on sustainable development programmes and providing humanitarian relief during times of crisis.

Summary of the role:

The Mosque Partnerships Officer is responsible for building, deepening and coordinating Muslim Aid’s relationships with mosques, Islamic schools and faith institutions across the UK. The post-holder grows Muslim Aid’s grassroots presence within the Muslim community, supports mosque-based fundraising activity throughout the year, and helps cultivate community leaders, imams and mosque committees as long-term partners and fundraising champions. The role is central to Muslim Aid’s ambition to be a premier charity of choice for the Muslim community, and to strengthen Muslim communities in the UK as a foundation for supporting communities internationally, in line with the Growth Strategy. The role sits within the Fundraising Lead’s wider Community Fundraising, Regional Growth & Mosque Partnerships portfolio, reporting day-to-day to the Community Fundraising & Volunteers Senior Officer.

About the Role:

  1. Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with mosques, Islamic schools, Muslim Student Associations and other faith-based institutions across the UK.
  2. Develop relationships with imams, mosque committees, community leaders and influential volunteers, supporting them to act as Muslim Aid ambassadors and fundraising champions.
  3. dentify new mosques and faith institutions for engagement, with particular focus on cities with high concentrations of Muslims, working alongside organisations such as BMHC, Muadh Trust, MCS and MCW where relevant.
  4. Support mosques and Islamic institutions to deliver successful fundraising appeals, providing materials, briefings and on-the-ground support where needed.
  5. Recruit and support volunteers within mosque and community networks to assist with fundraising appeals and events.
  6. Undertake basic due diligence checks on new mosque and community partners to ensure those we work with meet the required standards, escalating any concerns to the Senior Officer.

About You:

You must currently hold the right to work in the UK. Muslim Aid is not offering sponsorship for this role.

This role operates on a hybrid working basis, with a current requirement to work from the office for two/three days per week, and additional days where required to meet organisational needs.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Experience working with, or engaging, mosques, Islamic schools or other faith-based community institutions.
  2. Experience in community fundraising, community engagement or a related supporter-facing role.
  3. Good knowledge of UK Muslim communities and mosque networks, including diaspora groups.
  4. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the confidence to engage imams, mosque committees and community leaders.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including with diverse community audiences.
  6. Ability to work flexibly  at evenings and on weekends during peak campaign periods.

Why You Should Apply:

Join Muslim Aid as our Mosque Partnerships Officer and play a key role in strengthening and growing our relationships with mosques, Islamic schools and faith institutions across the UK. Working closely with the Community Fundraising & Volunteers Senior Officer and the wider Fundraising team, you will build meaningful relationships with imams, mosque committees and community leaders, support mosque-based fundraising activities and help develop long-term partnerships that inspire communities to support Muslim Aid’s work. You’ll be at the heart of growing our grassroots presence, engaging new and existing supporters and helping establish Muslim Aid as a charity of choice within Muslim communities across the UK. If you’re passionate about community engagement, building strong faith-based partnerships and using fundraising to make a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you.

Benefits you will enjoy working for us:

  • 25 days annual leave + 4 Privilege days
  • Hybrid working – minimum of 2 days per week in the office
  • Paid time off for medical appointments
  • 2 hours lunch break on Fridays
  • Time off in Lieu (TOIL)
  • Pension Scheme

How to Apply:

To apply please submit your cover letter (no more than 1 page) and CV.
