Samaritans is looking for a dedicated Volunteer Experience Advisor to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of volunteering across our network. Our incredible volunteers run more than 200 branches and locations across the UK and Ireland. They offer their time to help to deliver our 24-hour emotional support service to callers in many ways, from answering telephones and emails, to fundraising, generating publicity, administration and finance.

About the Role

Our Volunteer Experience Team support over 20,000 volunteers and no two days are the same. You’ll be responsible for supporting our network of volunteers and volunteer leaders in engaging and managing volunteers, as well as involved in a variety of creative new projects helping us to provide a positive and rewarding experience for anyone that gives their time to Samaritans.

You’ll play a key advisory, analytical and development focused role, supporting volunteers and volunteer leaders on all volunteer management matters, including sensitive and sometimes complex situations. What you’ll be doing

• Providing expert advice and guidance to branches and regions on all volunteer management matters.

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced events professional to join the Living Wage Foundation team as an Events Manager. You will be responsible for developing, delivering, and supporting the team with innovative events to promote the Living Wage movement, support the existing employer network, increase public support for fair pay and encourage Living Wage accreditation.

We’re looking for a talented Challenge Events Fundraiser to join our team in delivering our ambitious events strategy. This role is vital as we continue to develop incredible relationships with new and existing supporters helping them to network, influence and fundraise via challenge events. 

Through excellent supporter care and stewardship, the Challenge Events Fundraiser is required to increase income for our challenge events portfolio. Working with the Challenge Events Manager, the post holder will deliver the events strategy as well as contribute to its ongoing development.

To succeed in this role you’ll need to:
• Develop and grow networks of event supporters, volunteers and community organisations to increase participation in fundraising events and generate sustainable income for the charity.
• Deliver an effective supporter journey, providing high-quality stewardship which motivates and enables supporters to complete successful fundraising activities within their communities.
• Support the delivery of the charity’s event fundraising strategy, working closely with the Challenge Events Manager to achieve agreed income targets.

Our partner, a collaborative platform supporting a network of conservation-focused organisations across Africa, is seeking an experienced finance trainer to design and deliver a high-impact training session for CEOs at an annual partner convention in Southern Africa.

The organisation works with multiple locally-led partners, providing sub-grants alongside tailored capacity strengthening across governance, leadership, finance and operations. As many of the organisations are founder-led, this training will focus on equipping CEOs with the financial knowledge and confidence required to effectively lead and oversee their organisations.

The successful candidate will design and deliver an engaging, practical finance session (c. 3 hours) as part of a wider one-day CEO training programme, tailored to the needs and experience levels of participants.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver an engaging, practical finance training session for non-finance CEOs, tailored to conservation NGOs operating in Africa. The topics they have suggested they would like to cover include:

• Understanding basic financial statements and what they mean for organizational health
• Budgeting and how to effectively review and monitor budgets
• How to manage and engage with a CFO or finance manager without having a technical accounting background
• Key questions CEOs should be asking their finance teams
• Identifying red flags and early warning signs of financial mismanagement
• Practical approaches to fraud prevention and detection, including essential internal controls
• Financial governance and the role of the CEO in ensuring accountability
• Donor compliance and managing restricted funds

Requirements

We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Senior Fundraising Manager to lead our next phase of income growth. • Salary: £45,000 per annum, pro rata.
• Hours: Part-time (22.5 hours per week, flexible, during normal UK working hours we would consider a contract with fewer hours for the right candidate.  All of our team work Monday mornings to ensure connectivity.)

Strategic leadership

• Lead the development and implementation of a multi-year income generation strategy aligned to Alopecia UK priorities.
• Work across the organisation to ensure fundraising activity is fully integrated with operational delivery, partnering closely with the finance, communications and delivery managers to align plans, resources and messaging, and to ensure shared initiatives are realistic, coordinated and achievable.
• Translate insight from your experience and our recent fundraising strategy review into clear, achievable plans.
• Set and monitor ambitious yet realistic income targets across income streams.
• Responsibility for achieving the fundraising targets and other fundraising-related performance indicators.
• Embed a positive fundraising culture across the organisation.
• Manage and review all fundraising income and expenditure budgets.

Income growth & diversification

As a part-time role within a small charity, the postholder will need to carefully prioritise income-generating opportunities alongside stewardship and relationship management. In year one, a key focus will be establishing effective donor pathways through the rollout of our new CRM, ensuring supporters experience clear and meaningful journeys with the charity. Alongside this, the Senior Fundraising Manager will assess and determine which early opportunities for growth should be prioritised. While areas such as community fundraising, digital campaigns and regular giving are likely to offer early potential, the postholder will lead decisions on where to focus effort and investment to generate the strongest returns.

• Leverage and optimise existing community and public fundraising activity to increase income and supporter numbers.
• Develop and grow new revenue streams, to potentially include digital fundraising campaigns, regular giving, trusts and grants, and legacy giving.
• Lead creatively and intellectually on compelling campaigning initiatives that drive engagement and income.
• Provide excellent stewardship to ensure funders and partners feel valued, engaged and motivated to continue their support.
•  Widen our existing corporate partnerships programme by building mutually beneficial partnerships to deliver income, awareness, and engagement opportunities.

CRM

• Support the design and rollout of our first CRM system, working closely with the Finance & Operations Manager to design fit-for-purpose donor journeys and pathways, establish meaningful reporting frameworks and ensure data supports excellent stewardship and strategic decision-making.
• Use CRM data and financial information to track performance, analyse trends and adjust strategy as required.

Data & impact

• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including ICO guidance, GDPR and the Code of Fundraising Practice.
• Work closely with the Finance & Operations Manager to ensure our data meaningfully represents organisational outcomes.
• Translate impact data into powerful, succinct and persuasive communications or compelling cases for support.

We are now looking to appoint to the role of Public Affairs Manager who, supporting the Head of External Affairs, will help to deliver the Associations External Affairs strategy, influencing through strong relationships with key external stakeholders.
