Chefs in Schools is a young, ambitious charity that’s rapidly growing. Our mission is to improve kids' health, through improving school food & food education. Working in areas of high deprivation, we support and train schools and their kitchen teams to serve the best, freshest and tastiest food possible, alongside meaningful food education. About you and the role
This is a pivotal role, at a pivotal moment for us. We are entering a critical growth phase, which includes rapidly expanding our own operations and managing significant external partnership. As Head of Finance & Systems, you will be accountable for ensuring we have the right systems and structures in place to grow at pace without detriment to good governance.
The purpose of this role is to lead on our finance strategy, and ensure all of our systems, reporting and processes are helping to drive forward the charity and deliver on our objectives at scale. You will work closely with the Chief Executive and Directors to ensure that financial planning is effective and supported by accurate data analysis. You will report directly to Trustees as required and ensure that the highest standards of transparency and probity are maintained.
You will be joining the team during a period of growth in the size and complexity of our delivery. We currently have 24 employees and anticipate growing significantly in the next twelve months. You will have a crucial role in shaping our systems and processes to ensure we can scale effectively, both our existing programmes and a new membership-based programme that is in development. We’re looking for an experienced finance professional with an interest in effectively using technology and systems to drive efficiency, without compromising on accuracy or compliance.
You will oversee all financial administration, ensuring this is carried out proficiently and in line with all legal and regulatory requirements, including ultimate responsibility for ensuring that all statutory filings are made accurately and on time. Your role will also encompass ensuring that we operate within legal & regulatory frameworks and stay up to date with changes in relevant legislation.

Key responsibilities:

Developing a comprehensive financial strategy that supports the delivery of the charity’s objectives and activities

Developing our systems strategy, including reviewing suitability of our current systems (Quickbooks for accountancy, Beacon CRM, PLEO for expenses management, Survey Monkey for data collection etc. ) and ensuring optimal use of systems, maximising automation, and using AI where appropriate.

Leading and developing the Finance and Office Manager and ensuring effective support from the external book-keeping team.

Lead on creation of the annual budget, working closely with Directors.

Advising the Chief Executive, team and Trustees, ensuring that benefits and risks of decisions are fully considered and fit with the overall financial strategy

Oversee sound financial administration, management and governance across the organisation, ensuring robust financial controls in place and operating effectively.

Provide leadership and guidance to all things finance related, providing mentoring and support to the team, and coaching on financial awareness.

Accountability for monitoring that the organisation’s services are, and will, run to budget, supporting budget holders and reporting promptly on risks

Have ultimate oversight of the external audit and production of the statutory accounts, supported in delivery of this by the Finance & Office Manager

Oversee production of management accounts and bespoke financial reports, including accurate forecasting, incisive analysis and accessible narrative commentary, ensuring decision-makers have the information they need.

Forecasting cash flow and managing the treasury position.

Support the Partnerships & Impact team and Programme Managers with financial inputs to funding proposals and ensure restricted funds are used in compliance with grant conditions.

Oversight of finance, governance and basic HR administration, supporting the Finance and Office Manager with high profile or complex queries, seeking specialist advice on financial or compliance matters as required

Skills & experience:

You have experience in a senior finance role (e.g., Director, Head of) in any sector, and some experience within a finance function in the 3rd sector (in particular familiarity with Charities SORP and experience of administering restricted funds).

We’re looking for a Clinical Quality Improvement Facilitator to drive improvements in cystic fibrosis care by supporting and accelerating targeted quality improvement (QI) within CF centres and clinics across the UK.
At a time of significant change and transformation in CF clinical care, this is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and passionate team at Cystic Fibrosis Trust. This role will play an important part in maximising the impact of several datasets already held by the Trust, and enabling patient-centric, evidence-based improvements in CF care.
A confident facilitator, you will help to translate data insights into actionable recommendations for CF teams, and support them with local projects to improve care, from small scale changes to larger QI initiatives. You will build strong relationships with the CF clinical community, encouraging and supporting them to share best practices and innovations. There will also be opportunities to contribute to the wider work of the QI team and attend relevant conferences and events.
To be the right candidate for this role, you will bring:
- Experience of clinical quality improvement in healthcare settings, including knowledge of evidence-based QI approaches
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, including experience of delivering presentations and/or group facilitation

Overview:
The impacts of climate change on our food system are escalating, affecting food prices and production and food and farming are themselves a major source of greenhouse gas emissions. ECIU has generated multiple analyses of these issues over the past few years which have been used by a broad range of stakeholders and covered extensively by the media.
We are now seeking to grow our team in this space. These roles are an exciting opportunity to combine your analytical and communication skills to generate reports and commentary that expands the evidence base while grabbing the attention of a range of stakeholders including journalists. Your work will help to ensure a better informed debate on the interactions between food, farming and climate change, covering emissions, resilience and adaptation to, for example, climate-induced food price shocks.
The work will include different types of foods, different farming from livestock to arable and both UK and international agriculture. You will be liaising with expert stakeholder groups and academics. Health will be a key theme in the work. The postholders will communicate findings to stakeholders including journalists and MPs.
You will manage your own programme of work, supported by a wider team of analytical and communication experts.
The Energy and Climate Intelligence Unit (ECIU) is a non-profit organisation that supports informed debate on energy and climate change issues in the UK. We provide independent analysis and accessible briefings to the media and other stakeholders to improve understanding of climate-related topics and contribute to evidence-based discussions. Our work covers a range of issues including land use, transport, the power sector, and heating and buildings, with a focus on the UK but with international work too.
This is a unique opportunity to inform the debate on one of the most pressing and less explored areas of climate change.
Role and responsibilities:
·Analyse how climate change is affecting UK food and farming and vice versa, using various sources and data; present findings clearly in reports, briefings, press releases and social media content.
·Monitor and analyse emerging political and media debate around climate change and UK food and farming, including misinformation.
·Provide fast turnaround analysis of breaking developments, synthesising findings into accessible and impactful outputs for media and other stakeholders.
·Stay updated on climate and energy policy, particularly how it relates to the UK’s food system.

South London Citizens (SLC) is Citizen’s UK second oldest chapter, established in 2004. SLC has over 100 member institutions spread across seven south London boroughs, working together for the common good.
South London Citizens has developed 1000s of local leaders through training and action teams and won big national campaigns, for example delivering free school meals for children whose parents have no recourse to public funds.
The Living Wage campaign is part of SLC’s DNA and in the last 12 months a campaign to bring the Living Wage Campaign to the Southbank has delivered well over 1000 pay rises to south London workers. The Real Living Wage is currently £13.85 in London, compared with the National Minium Wage of £12.21 (for workers aged over 21).
Community Organising
Through our theory of social change, called community organising, we train thousands of everyday people to lead change in their communities, equipping them with the skills to hold politicians and other powerholders to account. We are made up of 500+ member organisations in powerful alliances throughout the UK. Our members include schools, universities, faith groups, parents’ groups, health practices, charities, trade unions and other civil society organisations.
Purpose
The principal responsibility of an Associate Organiser is their own development: learning the craft of Community Organising under the guidance of an experienced Community Organiser. They work intensively with a small number of member organisations under close supervision, growing their experience, skill and responsibility incrementally. An Associate Organiser is working towards becoming a competent practitioner of the craft of broad-based community organising methodology, and focuses on the building of relational power, the recruitment and retention of dues-paying institutions, the development of leaders, the strengthening of member institutions, leader-led public actions, and the winning of systemic change.
This role is particularly to organise around the issue of low pay and precarious work and participate in Citizens UK’s flagship campaign, the Living Wage Campaign. We need someone who can speak Spanish as well as English, as south London’s Latin American communities are leading the work in South London. There is scope to involve leaders in campaigns around housing, health and migrants' rights, as we recognise that people affected by low pay are very often determined to take action on wider issues beyond work. The purpose of the role is to develop leadership, especially grassroots leadership, workers from London’s lowest paid sectors, that can power the campaign. Crucially the Associate Organiser will work with colleagues in South London Citizens to build and execute a strategy that develops powerful leaders for South London Citizens and wins the Living Wage, Living Hours and other material gains for thousands of workers across the capital.
Main Responsibilities
Working as an Associate Organiser in South London for Citizens UK, reporting to the Lead Organiser, South West, SLC, your main responsibilities will include:
Build relational power to further the goals of CUK
