About the Role

The organisation has ambitious plans to grow and is looking for a Financial Controller to build strong foundations in relation to financial literacy and commercial awareness across the organisation whilst working closely with the Executive. This role will be crucial in supporting the Chief Operating Officer to deliver strategic plans over the next five years.

This role will give you the opportunity to build strong relationships across the organisation and provide outstanding customer service to various stakeholders. 

Given the relative size of the organisation, this is a broad role, encompassing many different aspects of Finance and therefore will provide an amazing opportunity for the right candidate to develop a broad Finance skillset.

About You

We are looking for someone who holds a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA/ACCA/CIMA), including newly qualified accountants with sufficient experience. Finance professionals that have sufficient relevant experience and are close to becoming fully qualified may also be considered. 

You will also have:

• Relevant experience within the not-for-profit sector.
• Strong understanding of and practical application of Charities SORP and FRS102 requirements.
• Demonstrable business partnering experience, preferably in a similar size organisation and business model.
• Strong financial control, management accounting and reporting experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to adapt and influence change.
• Advanced Excel skills and experience using a range of financial reporting tools.
• Experience of using a range of accounting software (Xledger desirable).
• Good working knowledge of MS Office programmes.
• Desire to pro-actively learn about AI and its application to finance activities.

This is a pivotal appointment at an important moment in Durham's fundraising journey.

Help build meaningful relationships with communities most impacted by the criminal legal system and ensure their voices inform research, policy and advocacy.

We're looking for a Community Engagement Coordinator to join UNJUST and support the development and delivery of community engagement activities that amplify lived experience, build trust, raise awareness and contribute to our research, policy and advocacy aims.

Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you'll build and maintain relationships with community groups, grassroots organisations and individuals with lived experience of the criminal justice system. The Deputy Fitness Centre Manager is a role that is largely based on site (80:20 split) and the post holder will work a minimum of 14 hours per week at front of house, leading delivery. The Deputy Fitness Centre Manager is responsible for the operational management of TeamUCLGyms, ensuring all members have an excellent user experience across all sites. They have oversight of operational procedures, ensuring best practice and adherence to health and safety standards. They will lead from the front, ensuring fitness programming, exercise classes and personal training are of an exceptional standard. Working to support the Executive Director and the fundraising team, we are looking for a highly motivated, organised person with excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to take initiative to optimise our planned fundraising activities over the next few months to enable us to raise vital funds and grow our funding networks.

The role is to focus on three key fundraising events, an art auction in autumn, our Big Give Campaign in December and a speaker event at the beginning of 2027 to kick off our 30-year celebrations.

• Organise the logistics of the art auction including setting up online bidding and the in-person auction event liaising with the artists, creating the brochure and overseeing the photography
• Oversee and implement all publicity around the auction including PR and social media campaigns

We’re a small team, which means we need everyone to pick up some admin. For this role, this will include managing our Shared Mailbox, processing DBS checks and keeping the office well stocked and organised. As GoodWork grows, we expect this role - and the wider operations function - to grow and evolve too, including the potential to build a small team around you in time.

Development & Fundraising Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced fundraising professional to join a large faith-based organisation in a newly created leadership role. Working across a network of local communities, you will help build long-term financial sustainability by strengthening stewardship, growing fundraising income and supporting local fundraising initiatives.

The role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will lead fundraising activity across the organisation, working closely with senior leaders, community representatives and volunteers.

You'll develop stewardship campaigns, increase regular giving and Gift Aid, expand digital and contactless giving, secure grant funding and promote legacy giving. You'll also provide fundraising advice, training and strategic support to help local communities achieve their fundraising ambitions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead stewardship initiatives to increase regular giving and long-term income.
• Develop and deliver fundraising campaigns and appeals.
• Identify and secure grant funding for a range of projects.
• Promote and develop legacy giving.
• Support the adoption of digital and contactless giving.

About you

You will be an experienced fundraiser with a strong track record of generating income through grants, campaigns and donor engagement.

You will have:

• Significant fundraising experience, ideally within the charity or not-for-profit sector.
• A successful track record of securing grants and delivering fundraising campaigns.
