We currently have two opportunities to join our team, each providing the chance to support clients through practical, often life-changing housing interventions.

About the roles

Project Manager – Client (Permanent contract)

In this role, you will help ensure the smooth delivery of our project management services for older and vulnerable homeowners across Bristol. You’ll provide high-quality advice on housing, repairs and independent living, supporting clients to:

• repair or adapt their homes
• access essential works that enable safe hospital discharge
• explore suitable alternative housing options
• understand available funding routes

Working closely with our technical project managers, who diagnose defects, design and specify works, and oversee on-site delivery, you will guide clients through the process with clarity and confidence. Strong judgement, a proactive approach and an empathetic manner are essential, along with good organisational, numerical and IT skills.

Project Manager – Client (12-month fixed term – Making Space Project)

This role focuses on our Making Space project, supporting clients who need help decluttering or reorganising their homes to improve safety, wellbeing and independence.

You will:

• coordinate and manage a caseload
• provide information, advice and options
• offer practical and emotional support with decluttering
• help clients make informed decisions about their home environment
• collaborate with colleagues and external partners

This is a deeply person-centred role requiring a trauma-informed, sustainable approach to reduce risks, improve wellbeing and support tenancy sustainment.

As our Fundraising Officer you’ll play a crucial role in raising philanthropic income for the university. You’ll be joining us at an exciting time as 2026 marks the University’s centenary.

Your work will involve planning and delivering a range of fundraising activities aimed at raising charitable donations from alumni and other supporters. Projects will include an international giving day, telephone campaign, direct mail appeals, online crowdfunding projects and raising money at public events on our campuses.

This position sits within the UK Finance team, specifically within the Management Accounting team based in London. As our Finance Business Partner you will regularly support and advise UK team leaders and senior managers to review financial aspects of their financial performance and plans, working closely with People, Finance & IT, Policy and Campaigns, and parts of the international programmes directorates. 

• Regularly advise UK team leaders and senior manager to review financial aspects of their operational plans.

• Continue to develop the systematic forecasting process for departments and ensure robust 3 year financial plans are implemented 

• Support strategic decision making on long term financial plans and modelling, supporting WAUKs 10 year strategy 

• Develop enhanced self-service reporting relevant at budget holder and department level that supports optimal decision-making 

• Create efficient finance processes that best deliver the needs of the organisation 

• Provide training and advice to build the financial management competencies of budget holders 

• Work closely with the wider finance and IS team on delivering the organisational priorities 

Requirements

To be successful, you will need: 

• Completed a professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA). 

• Experience of formulating, overseeing and reporting on operational plans, including KPIs. 

• Demonstrable innovative ability; using data and insight to inform recommendations for improvements to products, processes or activities. 

• Proven experience of using insight and analysis to provide trends, inform and drive business decisions. 

• Keen interest in information systems, ability to learn new systems quickly. 

• Experience of accounting for restricted funds, preferably in an international organisation. 

• Adaptability to build effective working relationships with both finance and non-finance colleagues and work in a collaborative way. 

• Highly organised, with the ability to prioritise and co-ordinate multiple tasks and confident to work independently. 

• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. 

Although not essential, we’d prefer you to have: 

• Working knowledge of a budgeting and forecasting system. 

• Experience of using Power BI.

Role Overview

We are seeking a mission-driven senior leader to shape and deliver our work supporting young people across the UK.

As Head of Programme – Young People, you will shape and drive the Foundation’s grant-making strategy in support of young people, ensuring our funding delivers systemic change and champions youth-led approaches. You will lead the Youth Fund and related initiatives, setting direction, overseeing grant-making, and influencing practice across the youth sector.

As Head of Programme – Young People, you will lead the strategic development, direction and delivery of the Foundation’s Youth Fund and related initiatives. You will oversee grant-making, champion youth-led practice, and influence sector-wide learning and collaboration.

Reporting to the Director of Grants, you will have direct responsibility for a high-performing team composed of two Grants Managers and one Grants Assistant. • Significant experience in the youth, charity or civil society sector, with a strong understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing young people.

Reporting to:   Communications & Marketing Manager

Contract: Permanent; Full time 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday. Some evening or weekend working will be required as part of this role.

Job purpose

The Communications & Marketing Officer is a key role within our busy Communications Team. They will support the wider Willow team in delivering on plans to raise the charity’s profile and increase supporter engagement. The Communications Team supports the communications needs of all teams across the organisation.

Principal responsibilities and duties

• Contribute to, and help to evolve, Willow’s communications activity, including emails, website, marketing and social media
• Work with the Willow teams to plan and deliver a regular calendar of content, ensuring the communication and marketing needs of colleagues across the organisation are met
• Manage the promotion of fundraising campaigns and events
• Engage with press, supporters, beneficiaries, partners, volunteers and medical professionals to help establish Willow as a national brand
• Gather and create engaging content, including case studies, images and videos, to be used to raise awareness of Willow’s work locally and nationally
• Develop and manage working relationships with creative agencies, printers and freelancers to deliver high quality communications, on time and within budget

The Role 

We are currently looking for a Retail Van Driver to join our Retail, Services and Operations team.

Reporting to the Warehouse Operations Manager, you will be part of the team responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the donation centre and warehouse. The primary focus of this role is to deliver stock to our retail shops across Yorkshire in a timely manner. However, at busy times you will also be required to assist with general maintenance tasks and supporting with the removal of general waste through the appropriate channels whilst working in compliance with all relevant Health and Safety legislation and our Driving for Work policy. 

Specifically, you will: 

• Carry out deliveries of donated stock to shops ensuring that the shops receive the stock that they have requested from the Donation Centre. 

• Complete collections of furniture and goods across Yorkshire, including the disposal of waste materials, as directed. 

• Assist with the moving of furniture and other goods between shops and the Donation Centre. There will also be a requirement to collect goods from donors. 

• Be responsible for day-to-day vehicle maintenance, including completion of the weekly vehicle maintenance checklist and daily visual checks. 

• Ensure charity vehicles are left secure, clean and presentable at the end of the day and ensure any vehicle defects and damage promptly are reported in accordance with charity procedures. 

• Be an ambassador for the charity whilst driving branded vehicles, ensuring that you drive carefully and mindfully of other road users. 

• Create a positive, professional, warm welcome for all visitors. 

• Seek opportunities to actively engage with visitors to enhance their visit and further promote the profile of the charity. 

• Be responsible for conducting an initial assessment of the quality of goods collected, including furniture which will include declining donations that are unsuitable for sale and may contravene the Sales of Goods Act 1979. 

• Be knowledgeable about, and an ambassador for the charity so that you are able to answer questions and answer any queries. 

• Promptly report any accidents, incidents or unsafe occurrences to the Facilities Manager via the charity reporting procedure. 

 
About You 

To be considered for this role, you will need: 

• To be ideally educated to at least GCSE standard or equivalent, including Maths and English. 

• To have the ability and willingness to travel across the Yorkshire region. 

• To have a full UK driving license with less than 6 penalty points. 

• To have a willingness to undertake any additional training as required.

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced programme manager who will oversee The Advice Workforce Development Fund (AWDF). AWDF is a collaborative programme dedicated to strengthening and sustaining the social welfare advice sector in London. The role will coordinate and run steering and advisory groups, and ‘task and finish’ groups, working with cross-sector stakeholders to enable the implementation of recent recommendations generated by research commissioned by the programme, and help with monitoring and evaluating the project and funded projects under this programme. The successful candidate will have strong project management skills, a commitment to social justice, and a track record of delivering impactful support to external partners.

The workforce development programme was created after working closely with a group of funders and advice sector representatives who are now steering group members. The programme has reached an exciting stage, as it transitions from a foundation-laying and research phase into more of a focus on influencing and implementation of the learning generated to date, while also maintaining and strengthening new and existing relationships. This role, with support from the Head of Sector Support and Grants and the CEO, will oversee the continued development and delivery of this exciting partnership into the longer-term. This role will also work closely with the Propel initiative under London Funders to ensure effective coordination of work is done at all levels.

As our next Chief Executive Officer, you will:

• Strategy & Impact: lead a collaborative listening phase and then develop and deliver a 3–5 year strategy and rolling business plan that defines the Centre’s core offer and impact targets.

• Governance & Finance: own the annual budget and medium-term financial modelling, deliver full-cost recovery across activity lines and present timely, accurate management information to trustees.

• Operational Leadership: ensure continuity of community services, venue trading and café operations and strengthen operational systems including safeguarding, H&S and business continuity.

• Income Generation: drive commercial performance of venue hire, events and catering, professionalise fundraising (major donors, legacies, corporate partnerships) and lead bids for multi-year statutory contracts.

Who you are:

• A seasoned senior leader with proven experience in a small/medium charity, community organisation or social enterprise that combines front-line delivery with significant premises/estate responsibility.

• Demonstrable track record of leading strategic development and delivering organisational growth while balancing hands-on operational leadership.

• Strong commercial and earned-income expertise, with experience of running successful commercial – ideally site-based - operations.

About the Church Commissioners

Established in 1948, The Church Commissioners works to support the Church of England's ministry.

The main aspects to the work of the Church Commissioners are as follows:

Managing the endowment fund

The Investments team of c. 85 colleagues manages the Church's permanent endowment fund. This £11.1 billion fund (as at 31st December 2024) is one of the largest in the country and has its origins in Queen Anne's Bounty, which was established in 1704.

The fund represents a diverse investments portfolio, which is managed with a strong focus on responsible and ethical investments that enable the funding support for the Church of England to grow in line with agreed investment return targets.

Church-Facing Commissioner Teams

There are three Church-facing Commissioner Teams:

• The Church Buildings team of c. 35 colleagues supports dioceses and parishes with the care, conservation and development of historic church buildings, advises on permissions for changes to church buildings and provides guidance on architectural and heritage matters. It helps churches adapt for worship and community use and works with government to advise on policies that affect church buildings;
• The Mission & Pastoral Services team of c. 10 colleagues supports the creation, merger and closure of parishes and benefices. It oversees the adjustment of parish boundaries, supports dioceses on the legal framework for pastoral change, and handles the legal steps when a church building is no longer required for public worship, including finding suitable alternative uses or disposal;
• The Bishoprics & Cathedrals team of c. 40 colleagues advises on the provision of suitable housing and office accommodation for diocesan bishops and archbishops, funding bishops' working costs, and supporting cathedrals in their governance and sustainability. It also oversees , the historic library and record office of the Archbishops of Canterbury and the main archive for the documentary history of the Church of England.

Central Support and Governance

Overall, there are c. 10 colleagues in the Central support and governance team:

• The Commissioners' Secretariat team supports the Chief Executive, senior trustees and Board in all aspects of their governance;
• The Engagement Manager is responsible for working closely with a wide variety of Commissioners' teams to help ensure that the Church Commissioners has effective engagement with a wide variety of Stakeholders;
• The Strategic Programme management team varies in size depending on the strategic projects currently underway (see below for further details).

Church of England Central Services (ChECS)

The Church Commissioners is supported by a number of key enabling teams which are part of the Church of England Central Services. This NCI consists of Finance, Assurance, Technology, Data, Project Management, Communications and Legal teams. The ChECS team is c. 150 colleagues.

The Church Commissioners is accountable to Parliament, General Synod and, as a registered charity, to the Charity Commission. The Archbishop of Canterbury is the Commissioners' Chair and the current Deputy Chair is the Bishop of Salisbury. Three of the Commissioners' trustees are known as Church Estates Commissioners (CECs), who will be key stakeholders for this role. The First CEC chairs the Assets (investment) Committee and the Second CEC is an MP who helps exercise accountability to Parliament. Both are appointed by HM The King on the advice of the Prime Minister. The Third CEC chairs committees that oversee the work of the Church-facing Commissioner Teams and is appointed by the Archbishop of Canterbury.

The Director of Strategy and Engagement has direct responsibility for Central Support and Governance, comprising the Commissioners' Secretariat (4 colleagues), the Engagement Manager and the Strategic Programme Management team (c. 5 colleagues). Additional Strategic Programme team members may be added as further strategic projects are commissioned.

Strategic focus

• Support the Chief Executive and Board with the development, articulation and delivery of the Commissioners' strategic business plan to enable it to support the mission and ministry of the Church of England, engaging widely and authentically in so doing;
• Act as a close adviser and sounding board for the Chief Executive and leadership team, ensuring the provision of accurate and timely advice, briefings and presentations;
• Assist in developing and delivering plans and projects to give life to the business plan.

Communications and stakeholder engagement

• Advise on, and support, stakeholder engagement. Develop and implement engagement and communications strategies for key stakeholders and leaders, e.g., bishops, parliamentarians, dioceses and General Synod (the Church's legislative and deliberative body). This includes major projects and programmes of work and liaison with the Communications team;
• Champion the views of key stakeholders and beneficiaries within the Commissioners, helping to ensure that business plans and projects reflect the perspectives of the wider Church.

Project support

• Manage complex or sensitive strategic projects and issues, thinking through the consequences of those projects, decisions and communications, including considering reputation matters.
• Facilitate the implementation of change plans, working closely with the Commissioners' leadership team and other NCI executive team colleagues.
• Support the implementation of cross-NCI programmes from the Commissioners' perspective;
• Use the Project and Programme Methodology adopted by the Church Commissioners and participate in current project governance structures - working with the PMO to continue to improve this.

Provide leadership and support to project teams, including:

• the Programme Spire team (which is managing a multi-year research programme to understand and respond to the charity's historic links to African chattel enslavement);
• any changes to the organisational structure for the Church Commissioners, ensuring they are provided with appropriate performance targets and support. This should be done working closely with the appropriate Finance and People teams.

Leadership and wider context

• Keep up to date with current events, trends and concerns which might affect the work of the Commissioners, NCIs and the wider Church;
• Support the wider Church as a senior leader, contributing to the development of the NCIs. Draw connections between operational activities in different teams, and with other NCI activities where appropriate.

• A salary of c.£95,000 plus age-related pension contributions between 8-15% of salary. We will also match any pension contributions you make up to an additional 3% of your salary.

Creative Green and Creative Climate Partnerships

Julie’s Bicycle’s Creative Green and Partnerships programme works with individual organisations and networks through consultancy and partnership. The programme combines sustainability expert advice, networking and peer-to-peer knowledge, supporting a wide variety of organisations in arts and culture to embed environmental sustainability into their value. From developing environmental action plans and training to designing net-zero pathways and sustainable exhibitions, we support organisations in incorporating sustainability into their strategy and governance, understanding their ecological impacts, and developing and monitoring action plans and practices. 

We collaborate to enable practical action for transformational change by working with diverse cultural organisations, including those in visual arts, museums, galleries, and theatre. Our Creative Green team partners with various organisations such as the British Film Institute, British Council Americas, Green Libraries Partnership, Tomas Saraceno Studio, Goethe Institute, Independent Cinema Office, Arts Council Ireland, and numerous European funding programmes. We also work with cultural services both in the UK and internationally across sectors including performance and music.

Our Partnership with Arts Council England 

Julie’s Bicycle is the partner for the Arts Council’s Environmental Programme, supporting organisations to take environmental action and meet their funding requirements and supporting the Arts Council to drive positive environmental change within the sector. The programme focuses on delivering support to organisations in: reporting their impacts and taking action using the Creative Climate Tools; running events, peer sharing sessions, webinars, signposting to and developing resources to deepen understanding around data use, and relevant topics in sustainability; broadening access to climate literacy via e-learning; providing a strand of workshops to provide targeted support for artists, creatives and freelancers, and; to inspire, develop and nurture sector leadership via a number of dedicated programme strands focused on governance, justice, resilience and decarbonisation. The programme is adaptive, and as we move into 2026, there is a significant opportunity to shape the delivery of our Decarbonisation programme in particular, to respond to the needs of the sector.

Our leadership strands include: 

Transforming Energy, our Arts Council England decarbonisation programme. This programme currently has two strands: Buildings Net Zero Energy supports building-based organisations in enhancing their energy management processes, and our Capital Investment Ready programme supports cohorts of advanced organisations in preparing their cultural venues for electrification, with a focus on 2030 decarbonisation goals. 

Additional strands include our Board Environmental Champions program, which helps trustees and board members of National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) and Investment Principles Support Organisations (IPSOs) incorporate environmental responsibility into governance, supported by a champions guide and peer networking sessions. The Leading Resilience programme, an ongoing pilot and mentoring initiative, fosters leadership within the portfolio and sector by enhancing understanding and skills for adapting to climate impacts. The Role

We are looking for an outstanding individual to join our team as a Climate Change & Sustainability Specialist, to lead and facilitate the management of strands of work on these programmes: 

• Transforming Energy - Arts Council England (30% FTE) 

• Creative Green and Partnership programmes (50% FTE) 

The work involves project-managing and delivering key partnership projects, and supporting collaboration with both subsidised and commercial cultural organisations, as well as with networks of organisations, funding bodies, cities, and local authorities. We focus on projects that generate knowledge that can be shared with the broader sector to promote climate action.

Candidates will have strong knowledge of the environment and climate, including their root causes, impacts, key issues, solutions, and approaches. You will have the confidence to embed sustainable practices across operations, strong facilitation skills, and the ability to drive change and governance in organisations and networks. 

You will be passionate about the cultural sector's unique role in accelerating a just energy transition and inspiring wider action. We would particularly welcome expertise in community energy networks and solutions, nature restoration and carbon sinks, and broad environmental management and the just transition.

You will have proven project management experience and be able to combine strategic thinking with on-the-ground delivery across all project stages, leading consultancy activities, including mentoring clients and running public-facing sessions. An excellent communicator and confident project manager, you will have a flexible, solution-focused approach.

Responsibilities

As part of the Creative Green and Creative Climate Partnerships team, our Climate Change & Sustainability Specialist will manage partnerships, working closely with a wide range of high-profile organisations in the arts and culture sector to help them understand, manage and improve their commitments to climate action and a just transition. A typical month might involve developing sustainability advice for cultural organisations supported by international cooperation, developing and delivering sustainability training for libraries, researching opportunities for climate action for artistic residencies, analysing environmental management data and writing recommendations and reports, helping write new proposals for partnership development, creating recommendations to influence cultural policy funding in the UK and Europe, creating a net zero plan for museums and theatres, supporting the sustainable production of exhibitions and performances. 

With the Arts Council England programme, you will lead the management and delivery of the strand focused on decarbonisation, working collaboratively with the team. There is a significant opportunity to shape the programme to support organisations in decarbonising across key focus areas, including community energy schemes, district heat networks, nature-based solutions, circular economy initiatives, and energy management approaches, among others. Beyond this key strand, they will collaborate with the team to support aspects of delivery and contribute to team activities across the wider programme as appropriate. They will also collaborate on delivery support and contribute to wider team activities.

Key responsibilities: 

Project scoping and proposal writing

• Actively seek partnership development opportunities that align with our strategy and aims.
• Scoping and planning new projects.
• Writing competitive proposals for new partnership projects.

Project Management and delivery

• Full project management, including managing timelines, resources, contracts, and budgets. This includes high quality, timely delivery of project strands, resources and events within the Creative Green and Partnership programme. 
• Managing and delivering the decarbonisation strand of the Arts Council England environmental programme, and evolving the focus and support provided for organisations in line with sector needs.
• Designing and facilitating training and focus groups for organisations and specific stakeholder groups/networks, leadership sessions in person and/or virtual. 
• Analysing environmental data focusing on energy, materials, carbon footprint calculation, environmental data and science-based targets and life cycle analyses.
• Developing strategic pathways for organisations to decarbonise towards achieving Net Zero Carbon emissions with emphasis on a Just transition and sustainability plans for cultural organisations. Carrying out the necessary research to respond to specific organisational / sector challenges.
• Developing clear and accessible communications about decarbonisation strategies and progress for a variety of internal and external audiences.
• Producing reports, strategy, policies, action plans, tools and resources.
• Providing advice on how clients can meet environmental regulations. 

Learning and knowledge Sharing

• Distilling and synthesising learning, insights and knowledge arising from projects.
• Clear communication and active sharing of knowledge with the wider team to support and enhance internal learning
• Presenting findings and recommendations to clients, partners, Julie’s Bicycle’s team and broader stakeholders.
• Keeping up to date with current research and legislation.

Experience And Skills

Essential

• Significant experience (five to seven years) of working in environmental sustainability programmes or a similar role. 
• Demonstrable experience of successfully managing environmental projects, working in partnership with external organisations
• A degree in environmental science/studies/management/sustainability and/or another relevant academic discipline area, or evidence of equivalent expertise.
• A proactive, flexible approach, and the ability to progress work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• An interest in the arts and culture, the role they can play in the climate crisis, and the sustainability issues that impact this sector.
• Demonstrable expertise related to a range of the following: decarbonising pathways and just transition, community energy networks and solutions, nature restoration and carbon sinks, broad environmental management and circular economy, and sustainability in the supply chain.
• Deep commitment to climate justice and to threading this throughout their work
• Experience and confidence in designing and facilitating workshops, training and focused group discussions or similar.

Reporting to the Business Operations Manager, the Retail Manager will be part of a diverse team encompassing health and wellbeing, hospitality, heritage and support services. This is not a typical charity retail role as the shop is uniquely situated within a wellbeing and heritage centre that also includes a Tearoom, Gym and Community support facilities.

The Retail Manager will play a key role in the retail transformation, setting up the new shop, recruiting the team, training and establishing best practice and standards; bringing the retail vision to life.

Full-time Solicitor (£50,000)

(Head of Legal Services/Compliance Officer for Legal Practice) | Central London | 40 Hours Per Week

We are making rights usable in real time for trans communities. As our first full-time, in-house solicitor, you will build and lead our legal function, supervise our casework and set standards that change outcomes case by case and system by system.

What you will lead

· Service build and leadership: Design and run a high-quality legal service. Set procedure, quality checks and file management that get used.

· Supervision and standards: Supervise staff and volunteers. Mentor, review files, sign off advice and keep practice safe and effective.

· Strategic casework: Identify patterns, test lawful routes others overlook, and pursue remedies that unlock access for many, not just one.

· Templates and guidance: Create repeatable tools, model letters and notes that make good practice easier.

· Training: Deliver practical training for staff and volunteers on core areas and updates.

· External relationships: Work with partner firms, Counsel, regulators and support organisations. Refer and co-work where it benefits clients.

· Keeping current: Track legal and regulatory change. Update guidance and workflows promptly.

· Issues and disputes: Handle escalations quickly and proportionately.

Helpful extras
