Events & Community Fundraising Manager

We are looking for an Events and Community Fundraising Manager, who will be responsible for growing income, supporter participation and long-term engagement across our events and community fundraising programmes. You will manage and develop our existing portfolio while identifying new and innovative opportunities for sustainable growth. This is a hands-on, strategic and creative role. You will be expected to take ownership, develop new ideas, use data and insight to inform decisions, and turn opportunities into practical fundraising activity.

You will join a small and ambitious fundraising team with an established portfolio of around 30 events and a range of community fundraising activities and partnerships, generating approximately £200,000 a year. You will have the opportunity to build on this foundation, developing new fundraising products, audiences and partnerships and improving the supporter experience.

We're hoping to find an experienced events and community fundraiser who can take the lead on their own portfolio, build strong relationships and enjoys working collaboratively in a small, fast-paced charity.

Location

We have offices in London and Huddersfield, both of which are easily accessible by public transport or road. We support hybrid working but attendance in the chosen office is required for a minimum of 1 day per week.

About the Role

As an Associate Head of Development, you will combine major gift fundraising with leadership and strategic influence.

You will personally develop a portfolio of high-capacity donors and prospects, building trusted relationships and securing significant philanthropic support for Oxford's priorities. Working closely with academic leaders, you will translate complex and ambitious ideas into compelling propositions that inspire donors to make high six-figure and seven-figure gifts.

You will also help create the environment in which other fundraisers can succeed: supporting colleagues, strengthening pipelines and contributing to fundraising strategy. You may already have line-management experience, or you may be an accomplished senior fundraiser ready to develop this aspect of your career. About You

At the heart of your experience will be a strong personal track record in major gifts fundraising, including successfully securing high six-figure and/or seven-figure philanthropic gifts.

You will understand how to build trusted relationships with major donors and prospects, exercise sound judgement around significant gift opportunities, and communicate complex ideas in a way that inspires support. James’ Place was set up by Clare Milford Haven and Nick Wentworth-Stanley after their twenty-one-year-old son, James, died by suicide ten days after a minor operation. James had no history of mental illness or depression and had sought urgent help for anxiety and suicidal thoughts but didn’t find it.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and lead our youth work at a time of development

You’ll manage a small team of youth practitioners and sessional workers while staying connected to frontline delivery. You’ll oversee and deliver group activities, after-school drop-ins and one-to-one mentoring, as well as developing holiday programmes, youth leadership and social action opportunities.

You’ll also help shape the future of our youth provision, working with colleagues across Oasis Hub Waterloo to develop our 0–18 strategy and create new, collaborative services.

Partnership working is central to the role. You’ll develop strong relationships with Oasis Academy South Bank, local youth organisations, community partners and statutory services, helping connect education, health and community provision around the needs of young people.

About you

The Fundraising Officer/s will be responsible for planning, co-ordinating, and executing all fundraising activities and initiatives.
