Here at the Royal British Legion, we are currently embarking on an exciting new phase within our Membership directorate. As part of our new ten year strategy, we are pleased to be seeking a Director: Armed Forces Engagement, Partnerships and Youth in a newly created, senior leadership role.
Reporting to our Executive Director: Membership, Armed Forces and Community Engagement, this role will be a key contributor to the delivery of our strategy with the key focus on identifying and developing key partnerships that advance our vision of ‘‘Bringing Society Together to Recognise, Remember and Support the Armed Forces Community’.
This role will see you lead the development and implementation of an Armed Forces Engagement strategy, coordinate the delivery of RBL’s work across schools and youth organisations and develop and deliver a Cadet Forces Engagement strategy.
You will lead a high performing team of Heads of Department within our Membership directorate. Key areas of responsibility will include:
· Armed Forces Community Engagement:
o Develop and implement a robust armed forces engagement strategy
o Externally represent RBL at key AFC events to promote the work of RBL and to develop external relationships
· Partnerships:
o Develop opportunities to work in partnership with other organisations
o Develop strategic initiatives and partnerships to enhance camaraderie within the Armed Forces Community
· Cadet Force Engagement:
o Develop and implement a Cadet Forces engagement strategy aimed at both cadets and CFAVs which seeks to raise awareness and understanding of the role of the armed forces community
o Develop further opportunities for Cadet Force involvement with the work of the RBL
· Schools:
o In Partnership with the Remembrance Team, lead the development and approval of the RBL Schools and Learning Strategy
o Design the youth offer and affiliation model
· Membership Development:
o Create an innovative programme of events, groups etc that provide more and better opportunities for the Armed Forces Community to Connect
o Working with the Director of Membership and Communities, develop a vision for Membership 2035, which refocuses membership on the AFC and drives a transformational change in the membership offer
You will be contracted to our London Haig House hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not on site.
Should you wish to explore a Remote opportunity where you will be contracted to your home address with occasional travel (which will not include additional £4,452 London Supplement to salary), this can be discussed at interview.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
We’re searching for a dynamic and innovative project leader who is skilled in supporting marginalised young people and who is able to forge a new approach to meeting their needs.
Westminster City Council, Young Westminster Foundation and John Lyon’s Charity are working with DreamArts to help join up services for young people with caring responsibilities. The Carers Express Project Lead will be responsible for leading Carers Express, DreamArts flagship project for young people with caring responsibilities living or studying in Westminster.
You will be responsible for producing and delivering creative and therapeutic activities for the Juniors (7-11) and Seniors (12-18) Carers Express cohort. The project should be thought of with a strategic and long-term vision that supports young people to use creativity to explore and extend meaning to the challenges they face, build a sense of belonging with peers sharing their experience and be supported with their emotional wellbeing. This will include projects in school holidays, residentials (e.g. attending the UK Young Carers Festival) and phases of evening/weekend workshops. You will act as lead facilitator and will be supported by a freelance Wellbeing Practitioner.
You will also manage a caseload of Young Carers aged 11-16, providing 1:1 support to newly identified carers and/or young carers experiencing key life transitions, e.g., primary school to secondary school. Where possible, you will assess and respond to individual needs, build positive mentoring relationships, and signpost or refer young people to appropriate support services within DreamArts or external partner organisations. Outside of your case load, you will build relationships with all Carers Express participants and their families to sustain their engagement through regular check-ins.
The role includes training and development in therapeutic approaches applied within DreamArts, including the PACE attachment model, and you will receive regular reflection spaces with our Therapeutic Consultant to process your work and ‘therapeutic lens’ sessions exploring approaches for supporting the wellbeing needs of young people in your planning, delivery and evaluation.

What could my day look like?
The Education Worker role is a frontline, fast-paced and rewarding role where no two weeks will look the same. A typical day will have different activities, possibly spread between the IntoUniversity centre, partner schools and the offices of a corporate partner.
In the morning, you might be setting off with resources to run a workshop for sixth-form students in their secondary school. About the Role
The primary focus of the Grants Officer is to support schools and youth organisations to operate the Jack Petchey Achievement Award scheme effectively and to promote, grow and deliver this and other Jack Petchey Foundation (JPF) grant programmes across London and Essex. This role will be responsible for Districts across Essex and act as the lead for specific uniform groups who deliver their activities in Essex.
This is a new role created following a recent restructure of the Grants team. It is offered initially as a 12- month contract (0.6 FTE / 22.5 hours per week) to support the growth of our Achievement Award scheme across Essex, with the potential of an extension, following review and subject to available funding. The working days and working pattern will be discussed with the successful candidate, however, it is worth noting the role will require evening and weekend work, so we are seeking someone who can be work flexibly.
The Achievement Award Scheme is the Jack Petchey Foundation’s flagship programme, with more than 2,000 schemes being operated in more than 1,400 schools, colleges and youth organisations across London and Essex. The Grants Officer role demands a wide range of skills and a high degree of autonomy, reliability and flexibility. You will possess an eye for detail, good administration skills and the ability to communicate confidently and present a positive external profile for the charity. Evening and weekend work is a requirement to meet the demands of this role. This is a busy and satisfying role, with each Grants Officer leading relationships with between 350-400 organisations. You will have strong planning skills and the ability to deal efficiently with regular grant applications, and with busy grant reporting periods twice a year.
Evening and weekend work is a requirement of this role, which on occasion can require up to two to three out-of-hours events in one week, depending on the event schedule. These are seasonal events, primarily during term-time and time off in lieu will be granted for additional hours worked. This role could offer flexibility around school holidays.

Main Areas of Responsibility
1 Develop, manage and promote the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme and other JPF opportunities
1.1. Identify schools and youth organisations not currently running the scheme and proactively promote the Achievement Award (AA) scheme to them, following up as required
1.2 Receive, assess and process all grant applications to join the AA scheme, in accordance with Jack Petchey Foundation policies and procedures
1.3 Attend, participate and assist with delivery of Achievement Award celebration events (usually evenings with some weekend events), including making a speech to congratulate the young people
2 Quality Assurance for the Jack Petchey Achievement Award Scheme
2.1 Develop relationships with and support schools, alternative provision, and youth organisations on the Jack Petchey Achievement Award (AA) scheme to operate the scheme to the highest possible standard
2.2 Provide timely support to such organisations to enable them to run the AA scheme effectively
2.3 Implement a strategic approach to conducting face-to-face and digital assessment and monitoring visits to schools and youth organisations in your area on the Jack Petchey Achievement Award scheme, to ensure our funding is well spent and to identify opportunities to improve delivery
3 Administer the Jack Petchey Foundation grant making process
3.1 Ensure accurate records are kept on the Foundation’s database (Salesforce), including up-to-date contact details and records of communication with groups in receipt of or applying for grants
3.2 Approve/authorise payment of AA grants and related programmes in accordance with our policies
3.3 Ensure appropriate grant reporting by schools and youth organisations and negotiate return of funds where a grant has not been used in accordance with conditions
3.4 Proactively manage risk, being alert to potential fraud 3.5 Ensure that clubs and groups receive all necessary materials to operate the Achievement Award scheme effectively
3.6 Assess and approve Leader Awards and Environmental Awards in accordance with our policy
3.7 Assess applications for Leader Award Grants, Educational Visits and Learning Experiences Grants and Environmental Award Grants in accordance with our policy, with recommendations put forward to senior staff
3.8 Provide regular updates on your work and Grants Officer patch during monthly one-to-ones
4 Promote the wider work of the Jack Petchey Foundation to schools and youth groups
4.1 Identify case studies and other stories and material that can be used for our communications, supporting communications team colleagues to raise awareness of our opportunities and impact
4.2 Represent the Foundation at digital and physical events, local networks, funders’ fairs, and community or young people’s forums to help promote our Grant Programmes and other opportunities
4.3 Assist with digital and face-to-face monitoring and reporting in relation to groups that have received a Jack Petchey Foundation Project Grant or other funding Promote the wider work of the Jack Petchey Foundation to schools and youth groups
Other Responsibilities
5.1 Actively contribute to Grants team and Jack Petchey Foundation team meetings

About the Role
The Level Up Academy Coordinator delivers our accredited two-day Young Carer Champion Academy to education professionals, supporting schools to strengthen identification and support for young carers.
Working closely with Headteachers, SENCOs, DSLs, pastoral leads and inclusion teams, you will help schools embed effective systems and whole-school approaches that improve outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
As part of a paid, accredited CPD offer, the role also includes generating interest in the programme and converting engagement into sustainable school partnerships. This is not purely a delivery role and it requires confidence influencing school leaders and articulating the value and impact of professional training.

AllChild (formerly West London Zone) is a non-profit organisation that proactively works with children and their families to flourish socially, emotionally and academically through our tailored Impact Programme.
Working with schools, we identify and support children and young people before the need for crisis intervention, connecting them to the help they need through our trusted adult, the Link Worker.
Our Senior Link Worker is based in the school with the children and young people they are working with on our programme. You will work directly with the children, their families, their teachers and our partners to design and facilitate a two-year Impact Programme of support and champion the children and young people along the way.
Since our launch in 2016, our Impact Programme has helped thousands of children and young people at the tipping point of need. 75% are no longer at risk in their emotional and mental wellbeing; two-thirds improved their grades, and 90% of schools renew after the first programme, noting ‘transformational or significant positive impact’ for the children and the wider school environment.

This role will lead the delivery of Radnorshire Wildlife Trust’s new three-year Pentwyn Food, Farming & Nature Project, Cylch Bwyd, an initiative designed to strengthen the local food system while enhancing biodiversity and community resilience across Radnorshire.
The project focuses on two interconnected priorities:
1. Increasing education on food growing, with a strong emphasis on environmental impact, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
2. Supporting, connecting and promoting the local food economy.
Working from Pentwyn, the Project Manager will oversee the creation of a community growing space, enhancement of habitat demonstrating nature-friendly food production, and delivery of an ambitious programme of school visits, workshops, and outreach activities. The role will build strong relationships between farmers, growers, schools, local food businesses and community members, helping to bridge divides and create long-term collaboration.
This position requires a confident leader with experience in community engagement, and partnership working - particularly within a farming context in Wales. The successful candidate will combine strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, ensuring measurable ecological gains alongside meaningful educational and social impact. As part of the role, the Project Manager will also take on responsibility for managing other RWT community projects, and be expected to contribute to the long term ambition of the site, and that will include contributing to fundraising and generating ideas for future projects.

Role summary
The Impact and Insight Manager will be responsible for leading an exciting range of high-profile research and analysis. Their work will develop the evidence base for careers education in schools, colleges and businesses, contributing to thought leadership.
We are seeking an analytical, curious and collaborative individual as an expert on careers education. Identifying, generating and using a wide range of evidence and data, you will work with the Senior Manager Impact and Insight, within the Policy and Impact team, to build an evidence-led approach across all our work, also advising on evaluations.
