You’ll play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our research grant programmes across the entire funding cycle, from application and peer review through to award management and post-award administration. You’ll work closely with the Head of Research, internal teams, external experts, and funded researchers to maintain high standards of governance, transparency, and impact across all our research funding activities.  

We’re looking for a confident communicator, with strong organisational skills, who’ll use their own initiative and ability to manage a varied workload. You’ll be motivated by ensuring our robust processes are followed to provide the best possible experience for CCLG-supported researchers, and ultimately that the highest quality research that will make an impact for children and young people with cancer is funded. You’ll be able to contribute to the continual development of our research programme to drive improvements. You’ll have a good understanding of research grants and funding processes, as well as an understanding of academic research environments in the UK, paired with a good understanding of a relevant biomedical science discipline through a degree or experience.

This role is offered on either a remote working basis, with occasional travel to our Leicester office, or on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of two days per week in the Leicester office.
Hours for this role can be flexible - while advertised as full time, we would be willing to explore part-time employment (minimum 0.6FTE).

The role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in ensuring learning and evidence informs decisions and contributes to the foundation’s strategy. Sitting at the heart of the organisation, this person will support the foundation’s learning and evaluation work, overseeing learning and feedback processes, commissioning research, and sharing what the foundation’s learning with different audiences.

The person
The successful candidate will be naturally curious, analytical and will share in the overall vision of the foundation. They will bring substantial experience of research and analysis in addition to having the ability to work confidently across both qualitative and quantitative methods. This experience will ideally have been gained in the grant making, philanthropic, charity or not-for-profit sectors.

This person will be a strong communicator both verbally and in writing and will be able to translate complex findings into clear, compelling narratives that others can easily digest and act on. Comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally, this person will be a great listener and facilitator, able to curate open and reflective conversations.

Highly organised and self-motivated, this person will be able to manage competing priorities and see projects through to completion methodically in addition to being confident using data tools and systems to produce high-quality, accurate work to tight deadlines. IT savvy across all MS packages will be essential in addition to experience of Salesforce and data visualisation/analysis software being very useful indeed.

The Role:

The successful candidate will provide a high-quality frontline service to both female and male victims of Modern Slavery (international human trafficking) and their children within the West Midlands area. You will be involved in all aspects of case management including: risk assessment, needs assessment, journey planning, outcomes and case review when supporting clients through their recovery and reflection period. You will also be involved in all aspects of accommodation, including; health and safety, requesting maintenance support, ensuring fire safety etc.

We are seeking a Director of Operations to join ERA at a pivotal moment of growth. This is a senior, strategic hire  who will shape how ERA is structured, scaled, and sustained over the long term. In 2026, we are scaling to run two summer fellowships: an ERA:AI fellowship and an AIxBiosecurity fellowship, alongside at least two major conferences and a pipeline of new domain-specific programmes. We want to streamline our operations to match this scale.

Working closely with the Executive Director and Programme Director, you will take ownership of ERA's operational effectiveness, compliance, financial strategy, and team development. You will be the person who translates ERA's ambitious programme vision into the systems, structures, and culture that make it possible and who ensures that as we grow from a small core team to an organisation of 15–20+ people, we do not lose what makes us effective. This includes managing the visa and compliance infrastructure that underpins ERA's international fellowship model.

This is a high-trust, high-autonomy role. You will have real scope to shape the organisation's trajectory, building systems that stick, managing risk proactively, mentoring a growing operations team, and acting as a senior counsel to ERA's leadership. Key Responsibilities

Operational Strategy & Scaling

• Set the strategic direction for ERA's operations function, ensuring it evolves alongside organisational growth

About You

We are looking for a senior operational leader who combines strategic clarity with a genuine bias for execution. You might be a strong fit if you:

• Have significant experience in operational leadership ideally at director level or equivalent, with responsibility for overall organisational performance across multiple functions

Location & Working Arrangements

This role is based in Cambridge, UK. We encourage and expect in-person presence, particularly during ERA's fellowship periods and conferences. Outside of these periods, we offer flexibility around hybrid working.

In exceptional cases, we may consider candidates based overseas, provided they are able to be present in Cambridge during programme delivery.

Role description: 

We are currently looking for a Head of Marketing Operations to join our Marketing, Brand and Communications Directorate 

Reporting to the Direct of Marketing, Brand and Communications, you will be responsible for providing leadership to:  

• develop the charity’s marketing plans in response to business need  

• manage the marketing department's operations, prioritising workload and overseeing processes, technologies and team performance to ensure campaigns are delivered on time, within budget and meet charity governance requirements.   

• analyse results and data to measure campaign effectiveness, drive continuous improvement, and report results to the charity’s leadership team  

Key Responsibilities include: 

• Place the needs of people with cancer and supporters at the heart of marketing content and activity 

• Lead and motivate the Marketing Operations team to deliver first-class campaigns and marketing activity 

• Plan and prioritise the work of the Marketing Operations team

• Develop and communicate the marketing roadmap to senior leaders, the Board of Trustees and charity employees and volunteers 

• Work closely with peers who represent the Fundraising and Brand and Communications teams to ensure marketing activities reinforce the brand, increase the number of committed donors and generate fundraised income

• Recommend budgets and resource requirements to support the charity’s Marketing Operations.  

To be considered for this role, you will have significant experience of managing or leading a marketing team.You will also need significant experience of developing integrated marketing campaigns that deliver against core objectives and Key Performance Indicators.You will have experience of leading projects and campaigns to deliver customer or supporter benefits.

About the role
We are recruiting for a Senior Research Manager to join on a full-time, permanent contract working 35 hours per week. This is a home-based role, with occasional travel required for conferences, events and in-person stakeholder or team meetings.

As Senior Research Manager, you will lead our Research Grants & Involvement team, creating an environment where people feel supported, empowered and able to contribute their best work. In doing so, you will contribute to the development and delivery of our ambitious research strategy, ensuring that our research funding programme supports the highest quality dementia research, informed at every stage by those with lived experience.

You will lead a collaborative and purpose-driven team, working at the forefront of research that has the potential to transform lives. This is a highly visible and strategic role providing expert input across all aspects of dementia research, including our own funding portfolio, to contribute towards our organisational priorities.

You will use your knowledge of the dementia research landscape to identify emerging trends and opportunities and shape our research funding programme. Using your extensive experience in grants management, you will ensure that our funding schemes meet the needs of the dementia research community, that our processes align with best practice and ultimately, that the research we support achieves meaningful outcomes for those affected by dementia.

About you
Joining us, you’ll possess relevant experience or education qualification in a relevant biomedical or health discipline, with extensive experience in research grants management, ideally in a medical research charity or similar funding organisation.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have good knowledge of the UK research funding landscape and research ecosystem, ideally in dementia. You’ll also have experience of embedding or supporting public involvement in research, or working in a co-production environment.

Crucially, you’ll have experience leading, managing and developing high-performing teams. You’ll also be a good communicator, able to work strategically with senior stakeholders, build relationships, influence and negotiate with them.

What you’ll focus on:

- Contributing to shaping Alzheimer’s Society’s research strategy, defining priority research themes aligned with our overarching organisational strategy.
- Acting as a trusted senior expert on dementia research internally, using horizon scanning and in-depth knowledge of Alzheimer’s Society’s funding portfolio.
- Working collaboratively to support the identification of funding gaps and new opportunities and partnerships, leading the development of future funding initiatives aligned with Alzheimer's Society’s research strategy.
- Overseeing the delivery and continuous improvement of research grant operations, ensuring that processes maintain the highest standards and reflect sector best practice, working closely with the Research Grants Manager.
- Developing and maintaining trusted senior level external relationships with leading dementia researchers, funders and partners, strengthening Alzheimer’s Society’s credibility as a leading research funder, and ensuring we are abreast of emerging trends and developments.
- Overseeing the development and delivery of Alzheimer’s Society’s vision for meaningful and impactful involvement of people with lived experience of dementia across its research programmes, working closely with the Research Involvement Manager.
- Leading, inspiring and developing a high performing team, building depth of expertise and strategic confidence and embedding a culture of test, learn and continuous improvement.
